Hey there, brand new today...
I'm trying to lose 30lbs - ish. More just get in shape. I'll stop when it looks right.
I have a Chinese food addiction to kick, and my favourite kind of donut has now been in the lunchroom for 5 hours. This could be difficult!
Anyone willing to suffer and gripe with me is most appreciated!

Hang in there!

Use "The Force" to resist that powerful donut! Get steamed rice and steamed dishes to take the "edge" off of the chinese food addiction! I prepare mine at home now. I got LOTS of stir-fry veggies, some grilled chicken, szechauan sauce, and soy sauce. No, it's not the same, but it sure tastes good and it's not swimming in oil. In fact, there is no oil! :)

Oh I love Chinese food!! There's this one place here called Eggroll Express and it has the absolute BEST eggrolls EVER!
Their wings are also to die for and their boneless chicken= YUM.

I don't think you have to fight it, just more like... choose better.. ya know? Or just limit how much you actually eat of it. Say before you ate the entire meal, next time cut it in half or something ya know? You can still enjoy the foods you love, ya just have to portion portion portion :D

Do something else to get your mind off of it!! Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water, it reduces cravings.

Good luck and welcome.

Hey guys- thanks for your support already!
Yes- I have a plan. First step is to give up the Chinese, which never seems to work- so the tips for preparing my own are helpful! (Unfortunately, I never cook)
I've actually made a big workout plan and logbook for meals and workouts- I've done this before. It always works, until something about my lifestyle changes... last time it was quitting smoking, and moving in with my perpetually hungry bf.
I've now gone into the lunchroom, ate my lunch, stabbed the donut with a butterknife and left it in the box. Progress!

You can do it!!

Good job for leaving it ! i'm not that strong. I always talk to myself like it's waste now if I don't eat and lots of people are starving. I umm don't happen to be one of them, so on't know how i ALWAYS TALK MYSELF INTO EATING WHAT i SHOULDN'T!! Good luck to you!!:)

oh my gosh a donut stabbing..........don't worry i wont tell........lol;)
sounds like ya got a good plan going, keep on posting and good luck, and i hear ya on the always hungary bf, i got a always hungary hubby!!!! makes life hard sometimes!!!!! STAR

LOL @ donut stabbing!

Sounds great that you have your logs, I know it's double the work, but it may help to post that info in your diary here as well. That way when things happen in your life, like before that cause you to waiver a little, we can kick you in the butt. LOL We're really good at that! :p

Have a great Friday!

Oh and as for the chinese food, I would suggest choosing the best alternative on the menu and/or trying to prepare it at home, which would be healthier for you. That way your body isn't craving it...that's going to cause a stumbling block sooner than later. I had to start doing what M does and incorporate chocolate into my menu, that way I don't crave it and get out of control, blowing my new lifestyle and all my hardwork.

Hi squid!!! I love your name ;)

lol at donut situation, I have a v funny mental image of you: "take that donut!!" Lol

Congrats on commitment to weightloss!!

Honestly, I know its hard to cook sometimes, time pressure etc, but it honestly makes it a hell of a lot easier to eat healthier!!

Good luck!

Everything went well until the cookie and beer. But am I ever gonna give up cookies or beer?? Heck No! So those are gonna stay and I'm not feeling bad. The guys at the office will no longer have maple donuts in the assortment, as they don't want to witness the brutality. And the Chinese Food issue was ultimately solved by ordering a ton of it and stretching it out so I can have a little every day. That way I won't get a massive craving and need to devout the Golden Wok All-you-can-eat Buffet.
I'm a nut case... athlete, trainer, and author of the Chinese Food, Cookie, and Beer Diet.
My dog is going to love me tomorrow, we are going for the walk of his life. I need to get to the mall and buy an "inspirational swimsuit" but my guy has the truck. I'd rather drive and then burn the calories when I get home. Thank goodness he's back on Tuesday!

So today was pretty much awesome. I can't believe that I'm not sucking at this diet. How are all you guys doing?
Poochy and I had another awesome walk today, and both of us have been eating pretty good. I'm at 155 now, but I don't know how to adjust my ticker.
Good news- the ski hills open next week and that'll keep me busy and exercising for sure! (Plus- nobody can afford burgers or beer at the resorts there so I won't be pigging.)
I'm now at 9 weeks until heading for the Caribbean, can't believe it's coming up so soon. I'm looking forward to the island lifestyle and all that great fresh fruit!

Weekly Summary

While I only started this on Wednesday, I'm doing my weekly summaries on Mondays. So...
My goal for this week was to get to 155- which I did! And as a result, I get to buy myself a lovely new gym bag. I've got a goal weight set for every week, and a prize every week if I make it. (Although the prizes would be so much better if I didn't have to buy them myself... maybe when my bf gets back we can be in charge of prizes for eachother)
This week was pretty easy cause I always drop the first few pounds fast. The coming week will be challenging, because it too is a "five pound week". But after that they are all "two or three pound" weeks.
Anyhow, I have survived sabotage attempts by the office donut suppliers, trick or treat leftover pawners, and a family dinner with the big guy's folks and I'm proud of that.
Hope I can keep it up.

Great job so far! Mini goals are the best, 'cause the big goals sometimes seem SOOO far away. I'm totally with you on keeping small amounts of the bad food in my diet so I don't get cravings. Life without (a tiny bit of) chocolate is not worth living! BTW, love the screen name. Are you without an ocean?

Some people in my home town can hardly remember my real name because I've been Squid for so long. It was a nickname from way back and it stuck- it rhymes with Syd, and I've always loved floating in the ocean! The happy is self explanatory. The only time I'm not happy is when I bust a zipper or pop a button!
