Half of Me:The Story of Fat Girl Slim

I just got an inhaler so i want to try indoors so i am running under the same circumstances as before to see if there is a difference. I am going to get a sports watch this weekend and hit the track next week.

I know that i didn't start training anywhere near to when i should have for this but at least it will give me an idea of where i stand and all that - there will always be another 5k :)

My one experience with outside running was less than stellar, although i know i need to - i am a little gun shy right now so i want to get a little stronger with the running in general and then i will take it on the road, so to speak.

good to be back - have to make a better effort to stay :)
Pacing yourself is the hardest part of running outside - find a decent musical set that keeps you from running too fast... or google online metronome... it helps with establishing a pace...

Two to three times a week - again, i know that i haven't done what i have needed to to do it right, i got my head out of my ass kinda late in the game, so to speak.

this will be a good base to see how i am fit-wise if nothing else and give me an idea of how much training i need to do for the next one.

No, I think you'll be ok. This isn't the first that you've done outside work. You were doing it on your vacation and doing it quite well, if I remember correctly.

Get the base line with the inhaler tomorrow, then run twice outside next week to see how it goes. Then you'll be all set on Saturday.

Sound good?

Sounds great :)

Friday's run (treadmill) 36:24, todays run (track) 37:30.

Didn't have to stop with either one but I'm beat :)

Inhaler helps - today more than yday - it doesn't eliminate the problem but it is somewhat more bearable.

Ill take tomorrow off and run Monday again - see how it goes :) I'm excited. The times aren't stella but they are for me :D

The better thing is my weight. Today is weigh-in day and I was at 177.6. I think I was in the 181-180 range on Monday when I got back to this so it is a 3-4 lb loss or so :)

Yay!

Ali, you might not think it's steller, but I do. You are at the point now where you can just go out and run over three miles. When could you do that before? Excellent job! :cheers2:

Time to update that ticker, by the way. Show it off a bit. :hurray:

Ali, thats great! :D

great times on the runs, really. What a change from earlier in this thread eh?
Seriously, keep up with it. You are doing so well recently.

Trops is so right. Change the damn ticker! I want to see it under 180!

You are doing so well and are so back on track. :D

Yay Ali!

Ticker updated :)

I could never do that before - somewhere in here is a post with me whining about my first experiences with running...something about pain and pain and did I mention pain?

This is much better - progress if you will :)

Hmm. I'm dealing with some pain today. Big ole popped blister on the TOP of a toe. How'd that get there? I don't know if I'm going to run today. I'll have to see how it goes. New sneakers might be the motivation for me to go.

Thanks Brian!

I am happy with the run times, happier that I went on the track and didn't die or anything embarassing like that. 5K is Saturday so I'm going to run today and Wed and do some light cardio for the rest of the week.

Ticker is changed :)

I am so back...

Thanks Brian!

Dropping dead on the track would have been sooo embarrassing for you. Thank god it didnt happen. :-/

I know could you imagine??? As it is, I may be able to run this damn thing w/o sounding like a stampeding asthmatic elephant :D

Whoever thought I would be happy to be just 'overweight'?

Bye bye morbidly obese :D

So.

I have my 5k on Sat so I ran tonight and will run again on Wed to prep for the BIG DAY. HAHAHA.

I ran that thing in 35:21, which makes me think I fell into a time warp since it is over two minutes better than my last run, but no, my one friend who has been talking me though this race swears that isn't it.

Totally crazy :)

Hi all :)

ran my best time last night - 33:24, no more until race day saturday.

weight (unofficially) is 174.6 so that is moving in the right direction too :)

i am so happy to be back on track again...

Ali, happy for ya. Sounds like you're doing great and best to you on your run on Saturday! Do it for you and no one else.

Thanks Steve - this is a huge thing for me - in high school i was the kid that had to walk the mile (at the weight i am now) so to be able to run three straight is just huge. i am really excited to do this.

btw - love the bug in your signature :)

Well that's the old you. The past is behind you for a reason. You bring the good stuff with you, including lessons learned, and push forward. I'm proud of ya.

And yea, the bug. Some people love it. Others hate it. :)

Hot Damn, Ali! That is a really good time.

You'll do great Saturday. :cheers2:
