Half of Me:The Story of Fat Girl Slim

Do I know you???

Nope- not at all. ;)

How the hell are you???
Im good. Tired but good.

I am not discounting believe me, I just don't want to ride the coattails of my former success so to speak.
I hear you. going through the same thing here. Not starting over but need to get my self back on track here. counting sucks but it is necessary..
It is nutrition...the exercise part is easy enough, it is watching what I put in my mouth that is the hard part...
are you consistant on your exercise though? It seems that you are not. Nutrition is easy enough.
Redo my ticker eh? Interesting idea...
I am full of interesting ideas..

I don't know where I am with running to be honest, every time I get started I hurt myself or end up having to take time off due to work. It goes in fits and starts which I can't stand. I need consistency here for it to work.

I am going to try the c25k program, that champion of couch potatoes everywhere, although with my current level of progress I think I am going to start in week 4 and see how it goes.
Follow c25K. i think that will be the best for you.

Hey, Ali girl we missed you a lot. Im glad you are back. Its okay with the maintaining. I did it for a month too. I understand the frustration you are feeling.

Nope- not at all. ;).

I didn't think so...mental twin aside and all that :)

Im good. Tired but good. .

It would appear that you and I are following parallel paths with work and all that, no surprise that you are tired, honestly...let me know when (if ever) it legs up, maybe I will be due for a break then...

I hear you. going through the same thing here. Not starting over but need to get my self back on track here. counting sucks but it is necessary...

I think that if I had as little left to do as you do I would view it differently but I have so far to go in the weight loss and just changing my physique areas that there is really no other way to say it.

are you consistant on your exercise though? It seems that you are not. Nutrition is easy enough. .

I am and I'm not if that makes sense. When I go, I go. When life gets in the way, it is very hard. At any rate, you busted me. I am really trying on this count, it is just hard to do what you gotta do sometimes. Oh well. Gotta take care of me for once.

I am full of interesting ideas...

So I've heard ;)

Follow c25K. i think that will be the best for you.

Let's hope so, right now I sound like an asthmatic armadillo when I run...

Hey Matthew - thanks! It looks like you got yourself back on track, that's great. I just gotta do it and stop whining. I will get there eventually...

Hey Ali!

I've also bn on a bit of an odd month... time to kick it up a notch now, eh? Couch to 5k CHALLENGE time?? :smash:

Ali, so glad that you're back. Two days in a row. That might become a habit.

I see that you did update your ticker. Good for you. Are you taking some "before" shots now, too? Perhaps some starting measurements. And let's not forget about the mini goal rewards. 15 pounds lost and you get a new outfit, or something. Finish the 5k in under 35 and a new mp3 player. What's the plan?

(perhaps making a dedication to do at least one post a day here might be a good start, too)

I like this guy:D
Good ideas all around.

If you are starting over- start over. 265 lb Ali is gone forever- those are not your starting photos.

185 lb Ali is here. Those should be starting photos.

Trops=smart :D

Trops=smart :D

Just don't tell anyone. They might expect me to actually produce some real work at work. :smash:

One more one. New diary with no more Fat Girl Slim. You are no longer the fat girl. You are the woman who has some weight to lose. Brian changed his, remember?

Hi Trops!!!!

I'm here, I'm here - I was in court all morning today and I had a trial submission that I had to get out yesterday which took all of my time.

Planning on posting tonight if all goes according to plan.

:D

Man you two are tough customers :)

I am glad though, you are keeping me on the straight and narrow.

I had Court Wednesday in Atlantic City and then spent all of my day yesterday in Court with my boss (no pressure there) settling what is probably the largest-asset case my firm has at this time.

Of course, this took hours and hours of preparation and that is what I have been working on this week. The workouts were really good Mon and Tues and then due to some personal issues I was not able to go Wed and Thurs, tonight I am going out but I am going to hit the gym tomorrow and Sunday.

Consistency is my biggest problem right now - different things keep cropping up which interfere with my ability to work out and it is frustrating. Going in the morning is no longer an option for me and going at night, as long as everything goes perfectly seems to work, however, if there is one glitch in the system, all goes to hell in a handbasket.

On the bright side, I recalculated by caloric needs and it would appear that I was off by 100 cals a day, which over time will def add up and could explain part of why I have hit a stall.

I have readjusted and seen that I have moved from 185 back to 181 - I am not treating that as an actual 4 lb loss b/c in a week or so that isn't realistic but it shows movement in the right direction.

I signed up for the 5k and am scared to death but excited at the same time. I have few expectations about my performance, I would like to not have to walk during it and if I could avoid looking like an asthmatic elephant, I will be happy.

I believe that I am going to start a new diary and picture threads to mark the end of the first phase of losing weight and the beginning of the new one. Thanks Brian and Trops - great ideas from two of my favorite guys on here :D

I have a tentative title in mind but I will link to it from here so those of you who read my nonsense can follow along if you like :)

I feel good, just stressed as hell, which helps nothing but I am plugging gamely along.

Hi Ali. :)

Been a bit.

So you're struggling with consistency, huh. Well my only advice is to leave rigidity at the door. If you are planning on 4 exercise bouts per week (just throwing that number out there as an example) then let them fall where they fall. If shit pops up, don't cancel the workout. Postpone it. You are probably doing this already.

As long as you manage to find 4 afternoons/evenings per week, you're set.

To boot, if you aren't getting enough nights per week to fit in all your 'scheduled' workouts... you need to make up for it on the nutrition end.

If exercise goes up, so should calories in general. If exercise goes down, calories should follow. A lot of people forget this. They work their asses off picking some arbitrary caloric intake that they stick with regardless of what's happening. That's silly. If you aren't getting adequate exercise in, the calories need to tighten up.

Best to you!

Hey Steve :) True dat. Too freaking long IMO. It is good to be back, I really need the accountability that comes with posting here.

I am. My goal is 6x a week, which I have not been meeting consistently but I do just postpone the one I miss. It is frustrating b/c it slows things down so much but things have really just gotten so much more hectic lately for me. I am grateful that this didn't happen to me in 07 and I was able to make the gains I did. It would have been so much harder if I started in 08.

As long as you manage to find 4 afternoons/evenings per week, you're set.

I think I can do this - I need to let go of the 6 day a week mentality and realize that if I get it great, if not, just get in four solid workouts.

To boot, if you aren't getting enough nights per week to fit in all your 'scheduled' workouts... you need to make up for it on the nutrition end.

This is where I am not making an adjustment. I need to go back and look at my cals w/o any activity just to get a baseline of what I need on those days I don't get to work out.

Duly noted. I am a pretty smart person most days but incredibly stupid sometimes. This is one of those times. Thanks for pointing it out.

Best to you!

Thanks man! Hopefully things start moving for me again soon :)
