I tell people that stuff all the time but it seems too stupid or too easy. They never even try it... blow it off as hogwash and I guess they assume I'm 'special' or some bullshit like that.

I'm not promising it will work.

But I'm promising it's worth a shot.

I will Steve, thanks for taking the time to give advice...I clearly haven't been able to solve this one on my own.
 
I like following the fiber too. I know it's not considered one of the big three macros, but I find that it helps keep everything in balance. Why go for an apple when a pear has three times the fiber? Do that enough times during the day and you're full.
 
That's a good point trops.

Keith recently discussed this in another thread not too long ago and it's something I've been preaching for years. Not always, but usually if you ensure you are getting adequate protein and good fats, the rest will fall into place.

Of course it's possible to overdo your intake still, but it's a lot harder. Protein-containing foods are very satiating.

So if you're going to pick one macro, I'd go with this.

(I'm going to let my ignorance show a little bit here . . . ) macros??

It's great for health and satiation.

It's caloric content is low, so as long as you are sure you're getting adequate amounts of it... you don't have to worry too much about it in terms of energy consumption.
 
I think I am going to work on increasing my protein and see how that helps since I know that is the one I have the most problems with...
 
I did ok on eating yesterday, felt reasonably better and went to bed with the intention of getting up and going to the gym.

Yeah right. I woke up at 730 again. I am starting to think that there is something wrong with me...

I am going to do tomorrow, early afternoon (so at least I know I will get there) but I want to do cardio and weight training...anyone have thoughts on the order of things? Cardio will be elliptical and stairs, if it makes a difference...
 
When doing cardio and weight training in the same workout I always do the weight training first. Which ever is second doesn't get the full results, but getting less then full results on cardio is ok since it is piggybacked on the exercises that you just did.

Ya know, I tried the whole morning workout thing before and I could never adhere to it. I'm just not a morning person. I mean I actually am... I never sleep past 8 - 8:30 at the latest. But I used to try and get in at the gym at 5:30 in the morning and no matter what I tried to trick my brain into believing... I always found a way to stay in bed.

I just wasn't cut out for it.

I value sleep too much and stay up too late.

She gets up earlier than me most days.

Except for the summer when she doesn't have to work. Rat bastard!

You need to try to get in the habit again. It seems you have bee nsparadic lately and need a routine again....

WT before cardio is how I have always done it. More because i sweat like a pig and do not want to lift like that but I have heard it is beneficial to do it inthis order.
 
It's suggested that WT is done before cardio as you can run the risk of injury if you're tired yourelf out from cardio and then attempt to weight lift... a 5 - 10 minute warmup first is ok -but the real cardio shoudl be done after the wt (least from what i've read)

I have the same thing...

Yea, she teaches. She does stuff during the summer but it's certainly much more lax than a normal job. She takes some classes, coaches swimming, etc.

Regardless of any type of full plate my wife has in the summer, it isn't work..

Annoys the hell out of me somedays when I am getting up at 430 to go to work and I reset the alarm for 730...
Although I could never do her job- I'd kill them...:D

I had been getting up for this since october and never had any problem. I get this cold thing and now for a week, I can't get up sooner than 730. Going at night is hard w/a little one due to scheduling so I would rather go in the morning...so annoying...

Ha! You sound exactly like me.

Plus the politics of teaching suck. I'd kill a parent or administrator in a heart beat. I enjoy not having a ceiling on the amount of income I can make too.

Oh really... that is strange. I was really tired about a year ago no matter what. Went to the doc and I actually had Lymes Disease.
