So yesterday was good and aggravating...I was on the phone with a client when, as I was looking for something on my desk, I knocked my cell phone onto the floor where it proceeded to break.
I was so surprised that I stopped talking to my client mid-sentence. I pick the thing off the floor and the flip top is hanging off to one side and some wire is hanging out of a crack that has now appeared in the body of the phone.
Crap. This phone has been through the mill and managed not to break on me. Hell, I dropped it 6' down a sewer grate and it didn't break. But it breaks on a 2' fall from my desk to the floor. It worked in the sense that I could make/recveive calls but I had to hold it together to do so. Not exactly something that can work on a long-term basis.
I am not due for a new phone from Verizon until June. I call their customer service to see what cheap phones they may have for sale - no luck there - without being eliglible for a new phone you have to pay full frieght which in their case was $100 minimum...
Thankfully I remembered that one of my coworkers used to have a Razr until she switched to a Blackberry. I asked her if she still had it and she agreed to let me use the Razr until I qualify for a new phone. WAHOO!!!
I took the Razr to Verizon last night and got everything transferred to the new phone for the low low price of $20. Much cheaper than purchasing a new one.
One disaster averted.
For those of you who read this blather with some degree of regularity you know that this week has been less than stellar for me; yesterday my boss decided that the entire office needed to decompress with a little wine and cheese happy hour in the afternoon.
I think I over did it...I had a glass of Reisling/Pinot blend and two glasses of champagne. I am sure that was more calories than I want to think about. In addition to that, I had cheese, crackers and fruit. My only saving grace was that I ate pretty lightly through the day - yougurt in the morning with a wedge of Laughing Cow, some pistachios and a Kashi bar in the afternoon.
Since we were at the mall late we didn't get to eat dinner until probably 10pm...I got a buffalo chicken salad (grilled) and had the dressing on the side. I don't know how bad that was but I tried to minimize the damage...
Today is another day and I suppose one bad day won't kill me...
My measurements came out ok - there was some small change which at least indicated forward progress. I don't want to have to start tracking every last calorie I put in my mouth - I know that I am not cut out for that from past dieting experiences - but if things slow down, I am going to have to face the fact that I may have to. We'll see.
Today is a day for cleaning and laundry...fun stuff. Lifting day tomorrow which I am looking forward to.
Life goes on
