Half of Me:The Story of Fat Girl Slim

Thanks Mal - I haven't tried the Gap - that will be my next stop...I just hate what I did to myself and I can't stand how it makes clothes fit now...it takes up so much space it should be paying rent or something...

:smacks ali:

It's not you -

it's the clothes...

you are where you are -

hating yourself doesn't change it..

Just keep going forward...

how many more platitudes can I come up with :) I'm tryig to be sincere...

you don't look horrible.. you don't look awful... you aren't huge...

besides -i think hating what you're seeing bathing suit shopping -is pretty normal... :D
See, this is why men are useless in this type of conversation. We buy swimsuits off the rack without an issue 90% of the time.
I just never understand why there is so much of a difference from one type of woman's suit to the other.

Basically, men's bathing suits are just glorified underwear. Which, I suppose is what a bikini is but...there are different cuts, and tightness, etc...there is just a difference...ask your wife :)

same reason why there's multiple styles of dresses - different things look better of different body types - and the trick is finding what looks good on your body type.

and ahem -I've seen plenty of men who've no business wearing speedos, wearing them - or the european style swimsuits... the difference is - that a lot of men just don't care - if it fits -then wel -it's good -and fits is relative... (which explains the beer belly hanging over the belt of a lot of fellas I see :)

Trust me. Well aware of the issues.
I am just always amazed by the issues women have with this kind of stuff- it is not the woman's fault by any means.
Trust me, my wife has a huge amount of issues with bathing suits. She has 5 or 6 of them. 2 look good on her. none look good on her in her mind.

99% of men have no right even looking at a speedo- that should not even be a consideration.
There is not much guys can do about a beer gut haning over the belt.......

it becomes less noticable if the pants fit a little better.. there's this little known person who can help with fit -it's called a tailor :)

Summer along North Avenue beach is always good for some - interesting sites... oooh yeah - menfolk far older than I am - in speedos... now unless you're competing in an olympic event... at the olympics - no speedos :D and those tight fighting european style trunk swimsuits -unless youve got a bum - and a taut tummy - again - NO - not ever - I really considered starting to charge the city of chicago for the bleach I n eeded for m y eyes :D

The problem is a lot of guys do not give a crap and think they look good. Women are the opposite- a lot of them think they look like crap when they actually look good.

I say it again 99% of the population should not wear speedos. Those little European numbers look like hell but more men can pull those off then a speedo.

Write a letter to R. Daley about your eyes. I am sure he will give it full consideration.......

Just a little random bitching here...

Bra straps are the BANE of my existence. I am wearing this cute sort of soff theshoulder top today and I have to pull the bra straps to the side so they don't show.

Well they won't freaking stay put. So I have spent way more time than is considered reasonable fixing them.

That'll teach me to try to look cute :D

Strapless bras
Convertible bras
or those bras that are sold with the clear straps (VS has a nice one with detachable straps :)

Cute is always good... just need to increase your lingerie wardrobe :)

Do you notice that all of my problems are related to wardrobe malfunctions? I swear I am retarded when it comes to this stuff...I have strapless bras but they are from my days of 264+ so I know that they weren't going to work unless I stuffed them...probably not such a good idea.

Note to self: get a new strapless bra :)

Until then, maybe tape will work...hehe

baby oil is good for removing duct tape.

Since wardrobe seems to be the root cause of some of your "self worth" issues.. that's easily correctable... Even though you're not at your goal yet - Stacy and CLinton say Dress the body you have now -NOT what you want to be... why not spend some time with a personal shopper - or even check a fashion school for a stylist in training and be their shopping victim - youd on't have to spend a lot of money - but you'll get a good sense of what does look good on y ou and the styles you should be wearing.

So yesterday was good and aggravating...I was on the phone with a client when, as I was looking for something on my desk, I knocked my cell phone onto the floor where it proceeded to break.

I was so surprised that I stopped talking to my client mid-sentence. I pick the thing off the floor and the flip top is hanging off to one side and some wire is hanging out of a crack that has now appeared in the body of the phone.

Crap. This phone has been through the mill and managed not to break on me. Hell, I dropped it 6' down a sewer grate and it didn't break. But it breaks on a 2' fall from my desk to the floor. It worked in the sense that I could make/recveive calls but I had to hold it together to do so. Not exactly something that can work on a long-term basis.

I am not due for a new phone from Verizon until June. I call their customer service to see what cheap phones they may have for sale - no luck there - without being eliglible for a new phone you have to pay full frieght which in their case was $100 minimum...

Thankfully I remembered that one of my coworkers used to have a Razr until she switched to a Blackberry. I asked her if she still had it and she agreed to let me use the Razr until I qualify for a new phone. WAHOO!!!

I took the Razr to Verizon last night and got everything transferred to the new phone for the low low price of $20. Much cheaper than purchasing a new one.

One disaster averted.

For those of you who read this blather with some degree of regularity you know that this week has been less than stellar for me; yesterday my boss decided that the entire office needed to decompress with a little wine and cheese happy hour in the afternoon.

I think I over did it...I had a glass of Reisling/Pinot blend and two glasses of champagne. I am sure that was more calories than I want to think about. In addition to that, I had cheese, crackers and fruit. My only saving grace was that I ate pretty lightly through the day - yougurt in the morning with a wedge of Laughing Cow, some pistachios and a Kashi bar in the afternoon.

Since we were at the mall late we didn't get to eat dinner until probably 10pm...I got a buffalo chicken salad (grilled) and had the dressing on the side. I don't know how bad that was but I tried to minimize the damage...

Today is another day and I suppose one bad day won't kill me...

My measurements came out ok - there was some small change which at least indicated forward progress. I don't want to have to start tracking every last calorie I put in my mouth - I know that I am not cut out for that from past dieting experiences - but if things slow down, I am going to have to face the fact that I may have to. We'll see.

Today is a day for cleaning and laundry...fun stuff. Lifting day tomorrow which I am looking forward to.

Life goes on :)
