Gym salary in sales? anyone know?

Random question - I didn't know where to post this but I thought this might be the best place. I was thinking about applying for a sales position at a gym. I have always been a fitness enthusiast and am looking into getting my foot in the door of the industry at the moment (as well as getting certified as a personal trainer in the near future). But I have no idea what a sales position pays and if I could even afford to live on this type of salary. What does the job entail? Why does it call for a self-starter? Are their cold calls involved? Any help would be appreciated!

thanks

It depends on the experience level of the trainer coming in. For trainers who really know their **** (with related degrees and CSCS or ACSM certs) I will pay enough that they make $40K+ easy. My star trainer usually pulls in around 55K himself. My entry level trainers are paid about $15 a session. If you average about 35 hours of training that's about $25K annually. I screen the hell out of them though!
