Gym how much is enough

Hi I want to lose a bit of weight, and tone up.
Now I am going to the gym about 4 days a week, and spend about 30 minutes on a treadmill, 20 on a bike, then do weights for about 20 minutes.

I feel that I should go more, like everyday.
Is there any benifit in going everyday, will it speedup my weightloss, or do I need to rest, how much is enough, and what is too much ?
thanks

You definitely need to have rest days. What are your stats? Im wondering why you do 50 minutes of cardio and only 20 of weights...You could increase the number of days if you want to do cardio x day and weights y day. Just leave one or two a week to have off.

Its a hard question to answer. You have to feel it out yourself. If you feel yourself breaking and hurting excessively, back off. If I were you I'd do cardio one day and weights the other. Your draining yourself for your lifts. Your lifts pack on muscle. Extra muscle burns cals like Woooohhh.

I would start doing 2 full-body workouts a week with weights and 3 cardio sessions. (just an example) I would determine my limits and know if I do too much and don't listen to my body I'm fcked. Otherwise its too broad of a question too fully answer.

Definitely don't go everyday. That doesn't give your body any time to recover from the day before. 4 days a week is fine. Try 2 on, 1 off, 1 on , 1 off, 1 on, 1 off.

Try going two days on and then a day of rest then two days on followed by a day of rest, etc...

Also try doing 30 minutes on the treadmill one day and a full body 30 min workout. Then the next day 30 minutes on the bike followed by another 30 minute full body workout.

Remember, if you are strength training at a high enough intensity and maintain an elevated HR throughout your workout, mostly through a cicuit formatted program, you will burn the same amount if not more calaories during your workout than you do during your cardio. It will also be beneficial to switch up your cardio routines everyday to avoid repetition.

Have a look at some of these full body programs. You might find one that will suit your fitness goals.

Good luck! Ben

ps. when I was a noob, I went to the gym everyday too. I still do....

How much is too much? I guess you are the only one that really knows.

I would have a day of rest, of course you don't just lie in the bed all day. :)

Some experts claim you need a minimum of 5h of physcial activity A WEEK! to get lean. Weights, cardio, sports etc

Diet is also a major factor.
