gwal's DIARY

My name is jen, and I am a 34 year-old woman who has been trying to lose weight forever! I have never been skinny, but never really obese either ( I carry my weight fairly well).

I want to lose 35 pounds. I am currently in a size 12-14. I'm guessing I could get down to an 8-10 with that weight loss.

I hope to lose that amount of weight in the next six months.

My plan is to eat small meals more frequently (I have had success with boosting my metabolism this way in the past), drinking lots of water, and avoiding sugars/processed foods. My biggest challenge is binge eating. Usually I can avoid that if I make a distinct plan each night as to how to eat the next day...I suppose this diary will help.

I think my goals are realistic, and exciting at that!

My start date is today, February 20th, 2007.

I'm looking forward to being an active part of these forums

thanks!

welcome to the forum and to your diary - glad to have you here...

you seem to have a great plan put together and the right attitude to achieve your goals :D that's awesome

Just tallied up my day....

Breakfast:
peach 30
cottage cheese 120
coffee + creamer 45

Snack:
popcorn 100

Lunch:
chili over salad 325
sour cream 60

Snack:
low fat oatmeal cookies 200
coffee/creamer 45

Dinner:
Chicken breast with brown rice 350
peach 30

and 100Oz of water!!!!

That's 1305 calories...not enough for me to boost my metabolism, so will increase a bit tomorrow.

Not bad for my first day, though! Yeah me!
:)

Great job on the calories today. Are you planning on excercising? When I first started I wasn't excercising regularly but when I started I really watched the numbers start dropping rapidly. Then I fell off the excercise horse and the next few pounds were agonizing...so I'm back at it and I realize now that its so important not only for weightloss but regular physical activity really has boosted my energy levels and my measurements change more rapidly since I'm not just losing fat but toning up as well. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Exercise is already a part of my routine. I do elliptical training and weights. I'm not particularly religious about it, but do try to get about 4 workouts per week. The schedule is sporadic, due to my work schedule. It is literally impossible to work out on days I work, as I take call, which means constant interruptions! I promise to myself that I will workout today...

Hey Gawl, we are about the same weight, and have near the same goals. I was wondering how tall you were?

Good luck with your weight loss!

Given our height difference, we obviously don't weigh the same, but have similar proportions. I am definitely bottom-heavy.

I feel like I did pretty well today.

Just under 1500 calories in.

35 minutes/ 5 miles on the elliptical (about 200 cal burned).

Chest/shoulders/biceps/triceps weight training.

90 oz of water.

My only complaint is that i probably ate a bit too much salt today, which will surely hold onto some water weight, so I'll be extra careful tomorrow.

Stepped on the scale today for the heck of it...down 1.5 lbs. That's all I need to know that I can do this and that it's working. Who knew a scale could be inspirational?

Wishing you a very happy almost Friday... Hope it's a great day today.

it's also be Humble day -- which personally i find silly - take a moment tobrag on your accomplishments... :)

another pretty good day...

just under 1400 calories in.

I have to go to a birthday party tomorrow, and I hope that I can resist the temptations. I plan to eat the salad that I know will be there, then I'll chew some gum to resist the cake and goodies. Wish me luck.

1510 calories today (even with treating myself to a piece of birthday cake at a party tonight). Chewing gum during the snack phase of the party totally saved me. Then, skipped the pizza, and doubled up on the salad. I'm pretty proud of that.

Did pilates today, too.

Tomorrow, will be going out to eat for another birthday. I'll try to stay as low cal as possible.

Had a busy weekend with parties, etc.

Back on track today.

So far, turkey breast/nectarine/water.

Hi there.

Hi gwal!
I have been cruising through some diaries that were near mine when I posted...You are doing an awesome job on your plan to eat better! What is your work? It's probably on your page, so I'll go out there and get to "know" you better!
Have a great week!
Cheryl
