Thought I would post a couple before and after face pictures. The first is from last summer when I weighed around 215 lbs the second is from the other day at 181.
Hey M, yea I know I can have the campfire pies. It's just what I put in it is the problem. My two had leftover BBQ Pork Rib, mushrooms and Cheese.
Anywho, I didn't get to run this morning cause of a little thing called a thunderstorm. So I waited until I got off of work to run. This had to be the weirdest run I've ever had. When I started out I felt like I was real bouncey. Once I got to the half mile mark I started to feel heavy all of a sudden. Then for the majority of the run I felt slow until the last 1/4 mile I felt really fast. Told you it was a weird run. In the end I ran 30:05 sec. for a distance of 3.4 miles. This was also the competition of the C25K program. I can't believe I did it.
Now for the hard part. I have 1 week to get ready for the 4 mile race. It should be to much of a problem considering that I just ran 3.4 in just over 30 min.
My goal it to (well finish the damn thing without stopping) finish under 45 min.
TOTAL C25K MILES: 77.70

GGH - Have you practiced running in different places? Also, have you done any hill work? Do you know if the course for Saturday is hilly?
Hills took me by surprise during my first 5K. Even if the course description says 'no hills', it may be a good idea to drive (or walk) the course before running it. If your not expecting hills, and then they pop up in the middle of the run you may not have enough energy to make it through.
I can only run 3 miles on a hilly surface - but 4-5 on a flat surface. They make a huge difference.
That's great.
I need to move away from places with 'hill' in the name. "HILLsborough"... "Chapel HILL"...
Good one DW

Well I ran my last 4 mile practice run this morning. Only difference from before to now was that I ran with no head phones on. I've gotten so use to running with a beat in my head I wanted to make sure I get the same results without the beat.
The end results: 36:38. That is 1 sec better that my previous best. OH YEAH!! So now I'm going to take the next two days off from running and relaxe before I run the race on Sat. I will how ever still be doing some sort of exercising in the mornings. Most likely turn on the T.V. and hope that FitTV has some exercising program on like Gilad or Cardio Blast or something.
im pretty sure i wouldnt be able to run 4 miles in a half hour..... not even close.... right now im pushing it to run 3 in 30 minutes... now i do stop to walk for a few minutes so maybe if i pushed through those times... but i dunno! maybe ill try that tomorrow. Good luck on your race! why cant you have your headphones for the race though? Is that normally a rule??? Maybe i should race... then id know....
Well my first official race is in the books.
I was able to complete the whole 4 miles without stopping. Let me tell you with all that I have gone through since Feb. When I crossed the start line I had a serious rush of emotions. Then again after I crossed the finish line. The best part of the whole race was the fact that I when I crossed the finish line the clock read 34:50. That was almost 2 min. faster than my practice runs. WHOO WHOO.... Now for the confusion part. I checked my finish time and finish place online once it was posted and there are two different times listed. The first was the time I seen on the clock as I finished the race which again was 34:50, then on the web site I also had what was called a net time of 34:13. The only thing I could figure was that the 34:50 time was from the gun to when I crossed the finished and since I was about a block back at the start I actually lost :37 just getting to the start line where my net time started.
So my question is; Is what I tried to explain correct? If so, just what is my official time, the 34:50 or the 34:13?
Anyways, it was definitely a new experience.
I do have to admit one thing. I wish I had something of some support at the race. I was really hoping to get some pictures to post. What I mean is that yet again my wife showed her true colors of just how supportive she is of me any my life change. This morning when I got up to get ready to go she informed that she didn't want to go because she was fighting a headache that she has had for 2 days. And it just happen that by the time I got home the headache was gone and everything was hunky dory. I seen that coming the day I told her that I signed up for the race.
Sorry for the ranting.
Hey guess what I ran a 4 mile race in 34:13 or 34:50 one of the two.
