Grey Ghost Hunter's Diary

I took the afternoon off from work today to take the wife to the doctor's for a procedure that ended up not happening.

Anyways, since I was off I decided to go for a little bit of a different type of run today. I went out to a lake near here and did a 5.2 mile trail run. That was a definitely a different experience, and I loved it. Wish I would of done it before now. Running through the timber and around a lake, it was so serene, calm and peaceful. What really surprised me was the fact that the time seamed to just disappeared and before I knew it I had completed the whole run. After the run I came home and finished my workout with my new increased abs workout.

Well all this is it. Today is the day I take off for Kuwait.

Once I get there I will try to get back here but just don't know when or how.

If I don't, I just wanted to let you all know that it has been great knowing you all and I'll never forget any of you. You have all be a great inspiration to me in helping my lose almost 40 lbs since Feb.

I do plan on continuing my weight loss while I'm gone and hopefully will be able to get back here to you all as soon as I can.

Take care and I'll see you all from the other side of the world.

Best of luck to you! You've had some great achievements and I'm sure there are many more to come! Keep up the great work and we will see you again soon!:grouphug:

hello from kuwait.

Well I've been in Kuwait for just over a week and let me tell you, it is definitally an experience. Been trying to keep up with the workouts but is extremely hard with this air. Whenever I go for a run you can almost feel the sand going into your lungs. Really make running hard, but I seem to manage.

I can tell that I have lost a few more pounds but don't know exactly cause I have no scale and all the scales here are kg. Hopefully I'll come accross one and find out just how much I have lost.

I do have pictures but will not be able to post them until I can d/l them from my phone. Once I do I'll post them up for you all to see.

Well I'm going to end this for now. So talk to you all later and good luck to you all.

Thanks for all the kind words and support.

I'M BBAACCKK!!!

Kinda. lol

Sorry I haven't been on for so long. Haven't had access to a computer to log on. And let me tell you it shows.

Home on vacation right now until the 15th of June, Then will be heading back to Kuwait.

I am sorry to say that my workout and diet has not been that well. Trying to get back on the wagon but is really difficult due to my schedule. 12.5 hours a day kinda puts a hamper on things. lol.

But now when I get back to Kuwait I will have a lap top so I will be on a lot more and will hopefully get back into the groove again.

Now I haven't just dropped off the wagon completely. I have managed to get to the gym a few times with a co-worker of mine when I had the extra time, and once I get back to Kuwait I plan on hitting it a lot more. Once I get back, I'll post up with an update and my progress.

So, by for now. Hope to see/hear from you soon.

Gettin back on track

Hey All,

Back again, coming at you still from Kuwait. Well it looks like I'm going to be here a little longer than the original one year planned. I gotta say I'm sorry for not keeping up with posting. I have really been wanting to but just never got to.

Well, this past year has definitely been an adventurous one to say the least. But I'm not going to go into that. That's not what I'm here for.

As for my diet and running. When I first got here I was doing pretty good. I kept up with my diet and running for a little while, but after time I found myself extremely drained and no energy to do anything but sleep after duty. Being the low man on the pole and working 12.5 hours a day I just didn't have the energy. My day starts out at 3:00a.m. when i get up. I catch the bus at 4:00a.m., geared up and on duty at 5:30a.m., on duty until 6:00p.m., back to my apt by 7:30p.m., eat, shower, prepare for the next day then in bed by 10:00 or 11:00. Not a whole lot of time to workout.

Before I knew it, I had stopped running all together, but I was still doing pretty good with the diet. Not to eat a lot of bad foods. Then, with time I started to fade with the diet and started eating out more and not the good stuff either. On my days off I would sit around my apt watching movies and vegging out.

The end result? Well at first I actually lost almost 10 pounds because I was always on the move. Then as time went by, I started moving up the pole and the jobs were less and less strenuous but just as long. Needless to say I gained back the 10 pounds I lost when I first got here and added another 15 on top of that. I discovered it one day when I went to get dressed and my jeans got awful tight. So I went out and bought me a scale and seen my weight gain.

So, right there and then I told myself "NO MORE". Time to get back to action. That was about 1 1/2 months ago and today I weighed myself and am happy to say I am down to 175. So, I reset my weight ticker with a new goal to hit and have got back to my dieting, along with running.

So, with that as of right now, I am going to renew my promise to myself and to you all, that I will become more active in posting up here on the board and to stay motivated and to look to other to help me stay motivated to make my goal of 160 lbs.

Wish me luck.

Went for my daily run tonight. The temp here in Kuwait is 106 with a humidity of 10%. So running wasn't bad at all considering last week it was 120 with 60% humidity.
Anyways, I ran 3.25 miles in 28:51. Not my best run but good enough for now. I promised myself that I could have one more night of bad food before I start my diet. So tonight I'm having a frozen pizza that I had bought.
I did manage to get to the store today and bought plenty of fruits and veggies along with some tuna. Also bought some Kuwaiti cuisine foods too. Some Hummus and something new I'm going to try. It's a vine leaf that is wrapped around rice, sunflower oil, onions, mint, dill and other spices. Sounded interesting and I'm always up to trying new foods at least once. Especially, different cultural foods.

Long day, long run

I had a long day today and was not in a very good mood. By the time I got off and got back to my apartment, I was really looking forward to running tonight.

So I ran the same 3.25 mile run I did last night hoping to blow off some steam. Didn't happen. I made the run in 29:28, it seemed like I was running faster than last night but I guess not. I guess we can't always beat our times everyday.

Diet is going good for now. Had yogurt and fruit today for lunch, haven't had a chance to eat dinner yet.

After a long day I was looking forward to my run tonight. So when I got home I wasted no time in changing and heading out the door. Put on the headphones and cranked up some Kid Rock.

Even with the temps at chilli 104 degrees at 7:00 at night I was able to knock off my 3.25 mile run in 28:11.

Diet is going pretty good. Had Yogurt, Cherry Tomatoes for lunch and Lasagna for dinner.

MILES RAN: 9.75

Awesome run tonight. Even with the 104 temps. I smoked my time from the previous runs. Ran the same 3.25 mile in 27:47. Love that run....

As for my diet. I had chicken salad with crackers, cherry tomatoes, and yogurt.

My body is feeling really good. Hoping the scale will be nice to me come Sunday.

lol

Went for a 5 mile run to day (ha ha ha). Ok, attempted a 5 mile run today. Didn't turn out as well as I was hoping for. It was 109 degrees and the route I took kept me in the sun for pretty much the whole run. When I started out I felt like I was running pretty fast but wasn't going anywhere. By the time I hit about 3 miles I was toasted. I was down to a slow shuffle. Just couldn't get anything going. Ended up having to was the next 1.5 miles, then ran the last 1/2 mile. It wasn't a pretty site what so ever. Think I'm going to wait until the temps drop below 100 the next time I try that run.

Well after yesterday's disaster I decided to slow down a little on my run tonight. Went back to my 3.25 mile.Kept a nice steady pace and finished in 29:15. Didn't want to overdue it. Overall it was a decent run.

As for my diet. It wasn't too bad this past weekend. The wife sent me my Girl Scout Cookies in the mail to me. That didn't help any. lol. I ate 3 boxes in the past 4 days. oops...

Weighed in day is today.

My official weight.......172

Dropped 3 lbs. Gotta say, no complaints here. Overall was a good week. Hoping for just as good next week.

You know its weird how somethings that start out blah turns out good. Didn't really feel like running today, but dragged myself to do it anyways. Started out to what I thought was a nice easy pace but before I knew it I was moving at a pretty good pace. Ended up with a strong finish.

Finished my 3.25 mile run in 27:47

MILES RAN: 24.50

You're doing a great job on the running. Running is always something I have wanted to be able to do, but I find I get tired after a few minutes. Everyone says to do intervals, but I always tend to give up. Any pointers?

Congrats on your weight loss so far.

Thanks Venus, If you haven't heard of it yet. Try out the c25k program (Couch to 5k). I thought it was a really good program. Just go to . There you can d/l the podcasts. there is one for each week of the program. Just load it up onto your mp3 or ipod and hit the road. In know time you will be running 5K with no problem. Oh, and it has some pretty good music to go with it also.

Been a couple days since I posted up, so I thought I would do some catching up.
Ran good yesterday. My usual 3.25 mile run. Run time was 27:47. That afternoon I went out walking to look for a store, (never did find it). Ended up walking about 2 miles.
Today, a coworker and I walked down to a mall which is a mile down the road from us. We orignally were going to get a cab for the trip back, but ended up walking back instead. We then went downtown for dinner and ended up walking another 2 miles walking around all the shops.
Once I got back I went for my run, but kept it pretty easy since I did all the walking today. My run time for today was 28:34.
Diet is pretty good except for my dinner tonight. I ended up having hot wings and fries. I also had at two seperate times today two smoothies. One was a fruit smoothie the other a mixed berry smoothie.
So now I'm hoping that with all the walking and running I did today, it will counter act what I ate. lol

High temps + High Humidity + having to slow down to avoid other people = 28:59, 3.25 mile run.

Otherwise it was a decent run. Can't complain about it. Except for the cramp in my left side. But I ran through it.

MILES RAN: 34.25

Felt great today. During the run I felt like I was running on springs and fast. One of the best runs I've had in a long time. Didn't break any records or anything but I guess that's not the point in all this is it.

MILES RAN:37.5

Went on my usual 3.25 mile run today and finished with a personal best time of 27:04. Also, went for a 3 mile walk this afternoon too.

Getting faster everyday. I know this may not be true but it sure seams like it. When I finished my run and seen my time I was amazed and surprised. It didn't seem like I was running that fast. Granted it would be great to break the 27 min mark. I'm not expecting to run like this everyday. I know there will be days that will be considerably slower but it sure feels good. lol

Diet is going good. I did how ever go out for dinner twice this past week and kinda over did it. But the rest of the week was good. Tomorrow a coworker and I are suppose to go out and explore some areas of Kuwait that we haven't been to yet. So I'm expecting that we will be stopping and eating sometime tomorrow also. Hopefully the walking will help out.
