Grey Ghost Hunter's Diary

Two things just popped up in my head that may or may not have any effect on my weekend.

The first thing is I am currently (along with many other pills) on a water pill. Well I never took it yesterday. I don't know if this would have that type of effect or not.

Secondly, my brother was over yesterday and after he came out of the bathroom he made the comment that my scale was way off. And made the comment that it showed him at 98 pounds with hiking boots on. Now he is a very small framed and wirey guy so it wouldn't suprise me that he was at that weight. Until this morning, now I'm starting to think that he screwed with my scale. I'll kill him if he did. He is one of the family reletives that isn't so supportive of my health and diet change. Always making comments that I won't stick to it and will be back to my same self in no time.

Can you recalibrate your scale??

Hopefully he didn't screw it up, that'd be real sucky of him!!

I don't know if I can calibrate it or not. I'll have to look.

Anyways I did a 9:32 one mile last night.

Re-weighed myself this morning again just to see if it wasn't just me. Well, it says I'm still sitting on 194.

Well, I'm still not convinced that my scale isn't possessed, so I weighed myself again this morning. Now it says I'm back to 190. Well I moved the scale and finished shaving then stood back on it again. Get this, your not going to believe this. It read that I was 187. :toetap05::confused:

I'm telling you my scale is possessed and is totally screwing with me.

exactly how much did you shave off - you didn't have a floor-length beard or anything did you ;) I seriously think scales were invented as some kind of practical joke! I got on mine the other day and it said my BF% was 24% - I was so excited as that's about 2% lower than last time. I got back on to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it said my BF% was 38%. I mean really, that's just cruel. :banghead:

Ok, so every year my office particapates in what is call "The Moon Walk". And every year I come up with some excuse not to do it. Well this year I decided that I am going to do it.

What the Moon Walk is, is a community health promotion program created and organized by the Peoria Area Labor Management Council (PALM) to encourage people to walk more and reap the related health benefits. Participants track their mileage using a pedometer or other method, then pool their mileage toward a common goal. The good thing about it is that you can rack up milage by walking, running, biking and aerobics.

They call it a Moon Walk because the ultimate goal is to accumulate enough miles to walk to the moon and back.

There are several teams from 3 different cities that particapates and all money raised get donated to several different charities around the area.

Cool eh. Well enough of my babbling. Wish me luck.

Did my one mile run tonight and yet agian I was able to better my time. I ran a 9:17.

Slowly by surely I am working to my times from back in the Army. Hopefully I will get back to under the 7:00 mark. But then again that was when I was in my twentys.

I didn't get to do any workout last night due to a board meeting. But that wasn't the bad part about the evening.

Around 9:00, we ended up taking my daughter to the ER for pains that have been increasing over the past few days. Now if you have ever been in an ER before you know you are not getting out of there any time soon. Well that turned out to be after 1:00 in the morning for us. And since my last meal was at 6:00 I was gettin pretty hungry and found myself standing infront of a vending machine as I was getting something to drink. Well I ended up breaking one of my biggest rules "NO VENDING MACHINES". Oh well, at least I didn't go hog wild on it and settled with a bag of chips.

I'm hoping to get a run in tonight. If not, this weekend should work me out pretty good. The Archery Club I belong to is do it's annual outdoor range clean up on Saturday and one of the big things we are doing is laying 16 tons of gravel, BY HAND. If that don't give me a workout I don't know what will.

Archery! Sounds fun...and hard to do, too! ...I hope your daughter's ER visit turned out to be for the best after all was said and done...with no harm but a bag o' chips!! ::hug::

Yea Archery. You're right it's alot of fun. I'm a board member of our local Archery Club. I also, (along with my daughter), compete in local and state competitions. We also compete on the NFAA and the ASA circuit when our schedule permits.

As for the ER. For the past week she has had some progressing pains in her abdominal area. She had some type of scan done on Saturday and we are still waiting on the results. We have pretty much narrowed it down to her galblatter, due to the fact that she has a family history on her mothers side of galblatter problems.

Here are a couple pics of my daughter and I shooting.

Official weigh in day is today and when I stepped on the scale it made my day even better. Espically after Sat.

I weighed in at 190.

I finally broke the 2-4 lb weekend gaining problem I've been having for the past 3 weeks.

Well just got th results back from my daughter's test. Looks like I'll be spending a whole lot of time in the hospital for the next couple of days. The wife just called and told me the my daughter is going under the knife tomorrow to remove her gall bladder. She is going to be sooooo pissed. This means no shooting for at least a month.

I can already hear the vending machines calling my name.:reddevil:

All went well at the hospital. Definately got my exersice at the hospital. I paced pretty much all day. I was able to keep away from the vending machines (Probably cause I didn't come across them anywhere as I was walking). We ended up at the hospital cafeteria for lunch and all I had was a club salad.

Something that kinda suprised me as I was in the cafeteria. Why is it that a hospital is suppose to be a facility of health but the cafeteria's food is about the unhealthest there is. I couldn't believe what they were serving. A ton of fried foods, the greasest burgers I have ever seen, and pizza with a ton of cheese. What, they didn't have enough patients and they were trying to get more by making them fat and unhealthy?

Ok, rant over with.

Anyways, we finally go home about 7:00. Once home I fixed myself a salad for dinner, but I think I over did it. It was quite large. After that I found myself eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and then an Icecream sandwich. I have no idea why I just started eating all that. I just found myself doing it. Hopefully it won't come back and bite me in the ass.

Tell me about it. I was there with my wife for 4 days when our daughter was born in january. Sushi saved my life.... Other than one small section with fruit, sushi and salads the rest of the cafeteria was full of junk... Pizza, burgers, fries, fried chicken. bleh.

1 mile run time 8:48.

Gotta love this. Every time I have ran I have dropped anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds of my previous time.

Went to the VA yesterday for a follow up blood work. Since this was only a follow up, there is no actual visit with the Doc. So, I am having the VA mail me a copy of the blood test when they get them back. I am hoping to see major improvements since Oct. which is the last time I went.

Didn't do any excersicing last night, but what I did do was some window shopping (kinda). Since the wife won't let me get a gym membership, I went to a couple of places that sells excerse videos to see if there was any that I would be interested in. Well, after looking at all the dvd's out there, I came to the conclusion that I have no interest excersicing to a video. I just couldn't find one that would keep me motivated. For some reason when I workout alone (except for running), and to a video, I tend to only go at it half ass or give up. I just can't get motivated enough to keep myself going. What I really want is to get into a live setting like a class of some sort.

Well anyway, this weekend is Easter. So I plan to step up at least the running. I am planning on typical run tonight, then running again on Sat. and Sun. This way I'm hoping it will make up for the dinner on Sunday. Granted I'm still going to try and really limit myself on Easter. I don't know if will matter or not. I just would like to have that feeling of extra insurance. If you know what I mean.

Well I survived the holiday weekend with the in-laws. I was able to somewhat aviod the temptations of over eating on Sunday. I limited myself to only one serving of food. Got a couple dirty looks but no real confratation from anybody.

Was able to get in a one mile run on Friday (8:38) and Sunday (9:00).

Stepped on the scale this morning to see that I still was at 190. Due to the weekend I can live with the no weight loss for the week. Well actually I was at 188 on Friday. But at least I didn't have a gain for the week.

Got my test results back from the VA yesterday. I couldn't be more happy with the results. The first number is from the December's test before I started my diet and exercise, and the second number is from last weeks test.

Glucose 120 - 92
Cholesteral 240 - 174
HDL 41 - 33
LDL 168 - 116
Triglyceride 161 - 120

Also, did my usual one mile run. Ran it in 9:02 in the rain. So I'm pretty happy with that, all things concidering.
