Greatest Calorie Burn?

Question-

If you have 5 minutes, how can you burn the greatest number of calories?

ie: a squat held at mid-way? an inverted plank? doing mutiple pullups? a 5 minute handstand? sex? sprinting? swimming? jump rope?

the only rule is that you start cold- and you have 5 minutes start to finish.

What do you think is the best calorie burn you could get, and explain yourself.

and, how many cals do you think can be burned in 5 mintues?

My guess would be:

Running, cycling, or swimming. Weights wouldn't even compete IF you are talking about the calories burned *ONLY* during those 5 minutes. The calories you burn during an exercise is affected by (and I'm sure can depend on) one's weight, the intensity of the work out, the level of the condition they are in already, and metabolism.

so I don't have an answer for you.....lol :p

FF I would say that if you did some of those exercises you mentioned like sprinting and swimming at a great intensity, you would probably get nearly the same results.

For me personally, uphill mountain running is my baby.

Explained : Not only are you running, your running uphill. Not only are you running uphill, but you are dipping and dodging things in your path such as low hanging branches, "which causes you to duck" or rocks, small boulders, and other debris on the ground,"which causes you to lift those legs higher and dip and skip like a boxer.

I do this as part of my routine, not daily, sometimes its just plain running. But I have done this at full intensity for 5-10 minutes. When your done, your whole body is done. Not just your legs, or your wind or any specific part. I mean your done.

If you can find a place to do this, and you can go full steam for 5 minutes cold, your in shape bro !

As far as cals counted and lost, i never measured as I dont think anything would be accurate since its not just running, its a full body drainage. I loves it !!!

That is all..............................................................83

hmmm, NLL brings up a good point. so let's say it's relative!

uphill running mountian running has got to be close to the best- maybe dragging a sled with a couple kids in it, with snipers taking shots from all directions. LOL

more ideas???

good one.
we did a major burpees challenge a few times. I used to come out of the pool on either end and do burpees, during my ironman trianing.

lay flat on the floor, stand up and reach tall, lay back down and repeat until time is up.

every muscle group is engaged.

or

jump rope

just my uneducated guess... LOL

FTW it produces one of the highest VO2 Max on record. Warning! may not be good for people out of shape or who have heart problems.

Good article BB. This is basically the idea I use aswell. I just tweak it a little.

Good thinking on the warning, definetely not recommended for those not ready for this.

FF. The article is about a form of extreme sprinting that goes in phases if you will. It is effective.
When I say I tweak it a bit, I mean I do it on dangerous terrain as flatland bores me.

I guess theres another backstory here I dont know about !!!

This is the second time in a week that I landed right in the middle of some s**t. Wheres the love ??? I request a thread made on who has a beef with who so I know not to post there. :)

Don't worry about it. There's was some guy called FF acting like a biatch and he spammed the forums challenging me to a duel. In addition to this he sent abusive pm's and he has just carried on in the same tradition in the last 24 hours. See the following threads :-

* Thread 1
* Thread 2

I'm willing to bet you wouldn't get to 4 minutes of 20 secs all out 10 secs rest, 20 secs all out etc. Its highly effective but its not for everyone.

Im pretty fit but yeah id probably wouldnt be able to do it first time, after a few attempts i hope to be able to. Im trying it on friday so we'll see how it goes :)
