Good pre-gym meal?

Im looking to add a 6th meal into my day, and was thinking of making it when I get home from work just before I head off to gym. This is approximately 3hrs from my last meal. My diet is currently as follows.

Breakfast:
All-Bran with Low Fat Milk
1 Banana (Sliced and put on All-Bran)

Morning Tea:
Cottage Cheese
2 Toasted Cheese Sandwiches
1 Apple

Lunch
Cooked skinless chicken breast
1 Banana
1 Peach

Pre-Gym Meal:
What should I eat/drink for this meal?

Afternoon Tea
1 cup of Yoghurt
1/5 large Can of Tuna (Monday and Friday)
2 egg whites (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Weekend)

Dinner
Pasta/Stir Fry etc.
Glass of skim milk high protein

With what I have learnt so far about diets and weight training, it seems I am currently getting a sufficient amount of protein in my diet. I was thinking of maybe adding a little bit more, and some more carbs, before gym, as I am having troubles gaining weight.

1. Would this be the best place to put my new 6th meal? (3 hrs after lunch, 2 hrs before afternoon tea)?
2. What could I eat for this 6th meal?

Many thanks!
Feel free to share info about your own diet aswell. :)

- To give you some examples

You also need a good meal right after your workout contain a lot of carbs/protein

I would suggest upping your protein at breakfast

Yeh I was told to have protein at every meal. But it seems Im getting around 164g of protein a day in my current diet. If I add more in, ill get even more obviously. Now supposedly all I need is roughly 146g a day. So Im already getting more than that, and If I add protein into breakfast Ill get even more.

Is it not good to have too much protein? Say an extra 40g or whatever. Or is it only when you have alot more that its not as good, say 100g plus?

What are side effects of too much protein?

Cheers!

pre work out meal those are my favorites grape juice and unflavored whey so that you have all of your macronutrients(minus fat) at immediate disposal. afterwards I usually have steak, chicken, ect and a big bowl of jasmine rice.

I've heard that you actually want to not eat one hour before working out. Chemistry is important and by drinking sugars before a workout, you can inhibit ATP.

Also, Howieau, you asked about taking too much protein? It's actually possible and can lead to loss in bone density (osteoperosis) among other things. Calcium that is used to emulsify and metabolize protein is stripped from bones. But much of it is simply wasted.

J;)

Your diet looks sooooooo good. Just reading it makes me drool! except for breakfast, coz i don't like bananas lol. Yeah, as people have been saying, have protein at breakfast. 3 Egss whites is good. And by the sounds of things ur bulking, add in 1 yolk too. :)

a pre workout meal for me would include atleast two banana

the reason
1. banana is easily digestible by the body

2. an instant source of energy

3. provides enough energy for your heavy workouts

4. also it is a rich source of pottasium

:)
