Weightloss is a big part of HIT because cardio is integral to the system.
Can hitting a specific muscle group just once per week take you very far (even with multiple sets)?

YES! i only do 2 sets at most; when you hit it at 100 percent intensity and increase the weight you use next time; you will only keep getting stronger and you muscles will grow as a result.

All you need is to be able to weed out (skim past) the lesser stuff!

appreciate it. although, my knowledge is just that of a beginner. i am but a student of the smarter people who frequent this forum. im just very good at listening and reapplying knowledge to a given situation.
