Going for it.

Yummy!

Had a pretty rough day today. Found out I have to have a special account set up at the university library to print stuff off there (our house printer was low on ink) so I couldn't print off the articles I needed for class, and instead of being embarrassed by failing to follow instructions on the second day, I decided to go ahead and skip, since it's only the second day and we're not deep into anything important yet.

Anyway, on my way back from campus, I had the overwhelming urge to cheat and eat at Guthrie's (which, for those of you who don't know, is a fried chicken strips fast food joint). I don't know why, but for some reason, ever since I started watching what I eat, Guthrie's has been my only severe craving, which is really odd because I never really ate there that often before.

I know it was an emotional impulse, driven by guilt from missing both my classes today and not getting nearly enough stuff done on my to-do list, but I haven't been so suddenly and overwhelmingly hungry in a long time. Still, I didn't cheat. I went home and started rummaging the cabinets for something to eat.

Since peanut butter (at least the peanut butter I have now) is much worse for you than I originally thought, I was scrounging for something else. Fruit? Bleck. Toast? Double-bleck. No milk for cereal. No veggies for salad. I was getting desperate.

Suddenly, I saw a couple of cans of albacore tuna in the condiment cabinet. I've seriously never had tuna in my life, and no one in my family eats it, so I had NO idea what it was doing in the cabinet. Thought, "People eat this stuff on sandwiches, right?" So I gave it a shot.

Opened the can and immediately thought of the rankest cat food imaginable. The stuff smelled absolutely terrible. Squeezed the fish juice out of it into the sink and tried a piece.

It was delicious. So....good!

So I wolfed down a tuna sandwich and a banana. Now I feel much better - I'm full and ecstatic that I found a new sandwich filling to replace my beloved peanut butter. And for only 2.5 grams of fat and 175 calories. Yay!!

Who would have thought stinky shredded fish would be the best thing since sliced bread?

Mmmmmmmm....

Snack:
- banana
- tuna sandwich on whole wheat
- glass of sweet iced tea (my first in over a week, I'm pretty sure...)

Exercise:
- 15 minutes run (treadmill)
- arm weights, calf weights, shoulder/back weights, torso weights

Sweaty. Tired. Want some grilled chicken and some of the pasta salad that I made earlier. :D

Dinner:
- 1 1/2 boneless grilled BBQ chicken breasts (about 8-9 oz. of meat)
- 1 cup pasta salad
- 1 Werther's candy (sugarless)
- 1 dark chocolate Hersey's Kiss

YES! I am back in the 170s baby!!!!!!!

I did a weigh-in today because I'm pretty much at the end of my period (sorry to gross any squeamish guys out, but menses REALLY screws with your weight loss aspirations....) and because I have been working my ass off the last few days.

So when I looked in the mirror this morning and saw that I looked a little skinnier, I jumped on the scales. 179.5!!!

That's even more awesome considering for the last week, I've been hovering between 184-188 (*gasp*!!) which is a pound higher than my starting weight! Needless to say, that was very, very discouraging, because I've been working out roughly two hours a day and I haven't cheated hardly at all. I knew part of it was menses flux, but I didn't realize how much of it was until today!

This just pumps me up to work even harder! :D

I only have to lose about 29 more pounds now.

Breakfast:
- 100 calorie Yoplait yogurt (lemon meringue...yummy!)

I'm going to the grocery store after yoga and the gym to stock up on milk and tuna. I'm jonesing for some Special K for real.

Thanks Mal!! :D

Sort of junked out today a bit. Didn't do too badly considering most of my food today has been gas station fare. Hung around with my cousin and watched A History Of Violence after I went to the gym this morning. I was going to go back today after class for my running/treadmill cardio, but class got cancelled because we're under tornado warnings, so I'm not going to go to the gym again. The weather is bad enough that I had to put the dog in the garage, so I'm just hanging out.

Oh, and I reread the peanut butter jar and it says a serving is TWO tablespoons, not one. So I figure I can eat a tablespoon of peanut butter on a sandwich and not be doing *too* badly as long as I'm mindful of now much peanut butter I'm actually using.

Lunch:
- peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat (1 tbsp. p.b.)

Snacks:
- large Red Bull energy drink
- Monster Java Moca Loca energy drink
- 1/2 bag Jim Beam peppered beef jerky
- 1/2 small bag Combos

Exercise:
- yoga (1 hour)
- tai chi (1 hour)

Yeah, good thing I like a little less p.b. on my sandwich anyway. I like to still be able to taste the bread. :D

Good think the majority of my junk food was beef jerky. LOTS of salt, but it was only like 1 gram of fat and 70 calories, so much better than some of the "cheat" stuff I was drooling over at the gas station.

Congrats on getting down to the 170's mav....I know the feeling...it's like yes! I won't have to see the dreaded 18_ number again! lol

Hope you're doing well otherwise as well :)

Major cheat day...

Yeah...so I cheated all over the place today, and didn't do too much exercise because I just felt like my body needed a rest (my shoulders were SO sore from doing pushups all day yesterday!).

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day!

Breakfast:
- 1/2 bowl of Special K
- bowl of fruit (pineapple, grapes, strawberry, watermelon)
- 1/2 cup of coffee with sugar and whole milk

Lunch:
- 2 biscuits w/ spicy sausage patty
- 2 pieces of bacon

Snack:
- 1 1/2 cans of Coke (*gasp-I NEVER drink Coke...haven't drank it in months until today...my cousin is a bad influence in more ways than one...:ack2:*)
- tortilla chips w/ white queso and hot salsa

Dinner:
- snow crab (about five legs)
- 4 oz. New York Strip
- 1/2 small baked potato (with no-calorie soy butter spray)
- 1/2 cob of boiled corn (with no-calorie soy butter spray)
- about 2 shots worth of Jaegermeister

Exercise: Not much in the way of exercise today, since I thought I needed a "body recuperation" day. Went and jogged about half an hour this morning (wore my butt out, though!) and I've done about 15 pushups.
