I was looking through some photos from back in 2006 when I first made the commitment to work out more. I had been an athlete throughout high school and college, but my first few years in the big city took a toll. It culminated when two actresses I was working with described my body type as "husky" rather than "athletic"-- which I had always thought of myself as! The pics with the white shorts are from then. I probably weighed in the mid 180s. It's gone down and up since then, but I am pretty happy with myself as I stand now. I don't think my future goals will really be weight loss anymore, but more athletic goals. I'd really like to run a 5K in 22-24 minutes. Right now I'm closer to 29. Although, even in the few weeks since I've been training, I've noticed a difference. In 2010, after going up to 186 lbs again, I joined a YMCA with a pool. I could swim about a quarter mile and then be pretty spent. Yesterday, because of some pain in my legs, I couldn't run so I swam at my grad school's pool and completed nearly a mile. I felt I could have gone all the way, but had to get some place so I cut the workout short. I also ran 5.15 miles which may not sound like a lot, but two years ago, even as I lost weight, I could only run about 2 miles!
Here's the difference from 2006 to now.
