Hi Ginger,
You are doing GREAT! I'm excited for you starting to run, that's wonderful. There's nothing more I want than doing the couch to 5k, and I'm getting there slowly, I'm walking more and more, which is a start. I bet we can do it if we keep each other motivated! I'll be your C25K buddy!

Ty Carrie and so are you!! We can definitely be buddies and make this c25k dream a reality:hurray:

Hey Ginger

The C25K program is terrific. I'm now in Week 8 and love it. I think it's great that you tend to focus on the positive side of things and in return typically ignore the negative. What a great way to look at things! I need to work on that. I'm a Capricorn and sometimes have a tendancy to be pretty pessimistic... Not always but, more than I need to be

Hope all is going well for you today,
Sam

PS. Still love your avatar. I was pretty sure it was Liya Kebede. She is an amazing model. She was the first black model to have a multi-million dollar contract with Estee Lauder and she is still in many of the major runway shows at almost 30 (not old at all but when your a model they think that is, lol)...
Week 8  WOW you are far along!! Congrats on making it this far and best wishes on week 9:hurray: Also thanks for the compliment on my outlook on things :D:D:D people tell me its important to know everything thats going on...good and bad. I, however, am still not jaded by crime so the news is hard for me to watch. So you're a pessimist eh? Well you're lucky you're a good looking pessimist...it makes it easier to deal with :D (j/k) But seriously maybe you are more of a realist. Like myself. Although I focus on the positive, I do not try to find the good in everything. I believe there are things which are essentially good and other things which are essentially bad. Sometimes good can come out of bad, but its not always the case. I do not think there is good in everything.

Liya Kebede is absolutely beautiful. Estee Lauder is smart :p

WOW!!!!! It sounds like you really found something within yourself, that's GREAT!!!! Running is NOTHING like gliding for me, LOL. It's more like dragging my body around while eating air. LOL. :nopity:

I'm so glad you had such a positive experience, and I know you can do it! Take it easy, and keep up the fabulous work!!!!!

Way to go, Pink. Glad to see that you found your own cheering section with that car. I don't know if the pain in your side is from lack of water. I always thought it was your lungs trying to get so much air into you when your body isn't used to it. Tomorrow will be better. You will either feel invigorated and do it again, or sore and take a rest. Either way it means that what you did today was good.

Hello Pink, just checking up on you and I see you're doing great! I love the way the lady in the car got all excited. Never know whether you motivated her a bit too.

My sis lives in the Tampa area, its very pretty but I'm not sure I'd move there unless I knew someone. Well now I have her so maybe in a few years.. Did you grow up in Ft. Lauderdale? Not many Floridians seem to be into traveling to out of the way places like Africa lol. Good for you! Where do you think you're off to this year?

So give us an idea of what you've been eating on an average day. The lasagna and salad sounded OK if you took a reasonable portion of the lasagna and of course a BIG portion of the salad, but with just a couple of drops of dressing or a little olive oil and a bunch of vinegar.

TTYL :)

Okay so....did Ginger run today??? :coolgleamA: Yes she did. I will tell you how it went :D I went outside and decided which direction I was going. I picked the cool way with the palm trees and flowers and shrubbery, canals, etc. like I said last night (no alligators by the way). So I started by walking, then picking up the pace. Then I stopped to stretch a bit. Then I started walking again, I started wondering how it would feel, I could barely walk sometimes for crying out loud...what the heck do I think I am doing? I was worrying about my fat and if it will shake so much until it hurts :rotflmao: my belly in particular I was wondering if I would start feeling sick. Then I was like "Okay lets do this!" And I started running. I was a little surprised. It felt like I was gliding. I did not feel out of control or like I was going too fast. It was not difficult at all, nothing was hurting, and I did not feel jiggly like jell-o. It was sweet. No other word can I use to define it but...sweet. I thought I would be panting and stifling. Amazingly I had long steady breaths and was moving faster than I was breathing. I thought I would be awkward with my body jiggling all over the place, but i was smooth and steady and had a beautiful rhythm. My first run was 1/2 of a looong block. Maybe about 30 seconds. I stopped and started walking again and that is when the panting started :rotflmao: I think my body was like WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED HERE? So I waited until I was breathing regular again and started running again. This one was about half of a block too, I was going to continue running across the street but a car was coming out so I stopped. And something so beautiful happened. There was an overweight lady in the car. She stopped and smiled and got really excited and motioned for me to keep running with so much enthusiasm :rotflmao: I thought she was going to start clapping. I waved at her and she waved and kept smiling. I walked a little then I started running again. This time I had to stop because my side started hurting. I knew what that meant. NOT ENOUGH WATER. I walked slowly until it subsided and started to walk back home. I started to feel better so I decided to run just one last time. This time I did 3/4 of a block :D. I wanted to stop at half but I pushed myself and believe me these blocks are long and they curve. I think all together I ran a little over two minutes but I was walking and running for 35 minutes. Not too bad. It felt really great. I was really amazed. I imagined it much worse and much more difficult. I think I just need to take some water with me next time and I will do better. Or drink more water a little before I run. Suggestions anyone?

I really impressed myself :-D :hurray: I am so happy I did this. :D AND I cannot believe how easy it was! All I had to do was pace myself and when I began to feel overwhelmed I started walking again. I even pushed myself and was fine. So now I have a new addiction!!:cheers2:

I give myself 5 stars :-D ***** Blinding aren't they :coolgleamA:

Pink Clouds!! Awesome! You rock girl!! That is so awesome. You ran. I havent ran for a little while. I find it a little difficult on my back, but this is fantastic, keep it up!!!!

well done on the running i know what you mean about it feeling better to do a run rather than a walk, i did the same thing a couple of days ago where i ran up a hill and wasnt out of breath at the top! its a really great feeling!

So glad to hear that you got your first workout in for the C25K! Running, as much as it is physical, there is a huge mental aspect to it as well. Your doing great!

Thank you so much everyone. I will reply to everyone in more detail tomorrow :D I am poooooooped. I am still trying to deal with my work situation. Have a great day tomorrow everybody!!

Hiya Carrie :D

Are you saying that about yourself running because it is true or because it is how you think you'll be? I only ask because I thought I would be just like that :rotflmao: I was prepared to die when I started :p But it actually turned out good for me. I did try to jog though and that was not pleasant. Running is easier for me than jogging. Thanks for the encouragement. I am positive you can do this as well. Remember we are running buddies :D

Thank you so much Trops :D I really appreciate your input here. What you say about the lungs makes sense to me...I would think the dehydration pain takes a little longer. I felt invigorated but have not done it again because there was a fire out in the everglades and the smoke was so thick over here.. which has set my allergies awry. Once I start feeling better though I will be back out there :D Running is my new friend.

:willy_nilly:I gotta go now...but I will be back later :D

Hey Blancita....sorry for the SUPER LATE reply but I have been actually sleeping lately... I mean sleeping too much I've even had to miss work because I am so spacey and sleepy...almost like narcoleptic sleep.

I actually grew up in Miami and moved to Fort Lauderdale 5 or so years ago. OMG what you say about Floridians and travel is so true!!! When I came back from vacation, everyone asked me where I went. I told them Europe and Africa and so many were confused and asked me why LOL Morocco was FAN-tas-tic! I have been missing it lately.

I don't know where I am going this year. I got in the car yesterday and the song "A Horse with No Name" by America came on. It made me feel like going back to Africa and visiting the Sahara. It was my first time listening to the song in its entirety. It was also hot outside and I just pictured myself on a dromedary camel with my mp3 player and a berber guy with a blue turban holding one of the reigns of the camel as we near the tent for tea with the ladies and gents:D I think I am feeling more tropical though, I was really thinking about going to the Dominican Republic.

I will definitely start writing what I am eating on here. The day that I ran, I really ate well. I even ate well the day after BUT since then I have been having this whole sleeping issue and I am not really eating so much or whatever is first available. Today I had fish and macaroni with cheese and right now I am having a few crackers with cheese :rotflmao: too crazy!

Thanks also Nataliejo, Sam and Kotki for the congrats.

Happy Mothers Day everyone!!!

That is so sweet Kotki lol you gotta love the moms :grouphug: I just came back from my mom's house lol my mom is so cute!!!! I love her so much. I call her my little mommy lol. Maybe I think she is so cute because I take after her ;)

Hi pink :)

Was reading the advice abt dealing with unfriendly work colleagues...thanx i think some of those strategies will come in handy!

Keep up your great work - we both have similar goals so i can appreciate how difficult it can be some days...especially the gym!!

Allie x

PS you gave me a real fright with the Mothers Day wishes! Thought i had forgotten it but we have it in march in the uk :) Thank goodness - my mum would have been after me!!

Hi Tinkerbella :)

I've been wanting to give you these cute avatars of Tinkerbell lol I have attached them below :)

Your welcome for the article on the colleagues. I tried it and it has actually improved things with the demon spawn and I. She is even asking me if she can follow me when I go for lunch or water LOL I think sometimes we really would like to act our best with difficult people, but just need instructions how. Everyone thinks so differently! After I post here I will sleep so I can wake in time for the gym tomorrow..I prefer the morning crowd. You know I TOTALLY had no idea Mother's Day was a different date in the UK :p I will have to make note of it for next year lol. I will see how my mom likes two mothers days :p

Hey Kotki,

Sorry to hear the relationship with your mom is a bit rocky now, :grouphug:but I am sure it will change. My mom and I have had differences and rough times in the past, but I made the conscious decision to just love and respect her unconditionally. It improved our relationship because I no longer felt the need to argue with her LOL So nowadays we just talk and listen to each other. If there is something we do not agree with, we just state it and move on.

Here is another one of Tinkerbell I think is too cute!!---->
I just put the URL because I think it is adorable but I do not know if others will find it somehow inappropriate :-/

i hope it will improve in the future! atm my mum just doesnt listen to me but hopefully that will change! I love the pictures of tinkerbell :) Hope today is good for you!

It was like that with my mum and so I stopped talking and just started listening to her LOL then she would ask...so what were you saying.

:nopity:no exercise today woke too late and worked too late....uff

It's going to be like this for the rest of the week! But I will try to fall asleep on time again tonight.

What i ate today
Breakfast:
4oz rice pudding
1 cup watermelon

Lunch
Steak fajitas (3 small ones)...maybe too small!!

Dinner
6 teaspoons of rice and blackbeans

eh...I know i need to eat more, I think the three fajitas equaled the size of 1 burrito :rotflmao: I was even laughing at them :p but they were good and I was full from them.

off to the other diaries:lurk5:

Hey Pink :). Do you normally eat like that or how are you managing?? I always wonder where people get the will power to eat a very small amount, or are you just not hungry for some reason? Hope all is going well :).

Hi Blancita....my appetite is never consistent but I have never been a big eater...my problem has always been more what I eat & drink....the junk...the fast food...the chocolate...the soda....the fatness:svengo: Some days I eat more some days less. I also eat slow. I'm always the last to finish and the first to ask for a doggie bag :rotflmao: But lately I have not really been wanting to eat for some reason....even if I am hungry I feel like I cannot be bothered. I think I ate 3 - 4 times this weekend. I'm okay though, I think just because I am so sleepy and busy. Thanks for caring :grouphug:

hay there pink, the word doggie bag always amuses me, why on earth do they call it a doggie bag? Dont worry to much about the exercise just concentrate on the food for a while then get back into exercising when you have the time!
