getting ripped abs..with suppliments or straight training?

basically what the title says ..how do i do it? i am 5'10 164lbs and i am pretty ripped, however, my abs can look alot better ..i cant seem to get rid of these "love handles!"..i was a chubby little kid and worked hard to look what i look like now.. but i cant seem to get my abs straight! it is mostly the lower part of my abs ..its so hard to burn! ..i try and workout atleast 3x week ..doing abs everytime i am at the gym ..i play basketball once everyweek as my cardio and i sweat like crazy when i do...but still ..nothing happening.

so basically i've been looking into maybe taking some suppliments to help myself out. i have never believed nor taken suppliments for 6 years until i started taking musclemilk last year. i do not take any other suppliments ..i workout hard and eat a healthy diet. that is it.

i want to have a six pack as a personal goal and have been trying to reach it for years. i have the outline for them but need the lower abd to form. i need to burn this fat off!

and to top it off ..me and my brother are health freaks! however, we talk only as needed ..but i live with him and im tired of him walking around shirtoff with his 8pack!! my brother is completely ripped! i am bigger than him tho!:action10:

HELP PLEASE!

Well you say your lower abs arent straight, I have recently realized its in your jeans and some people are just like that and cannot get them aligned properly. However in my opinion i do not see this as a bad thing.

Remember to give your abs rest..Do not overwork them otherwise you wont see the results they need to recover and build. You also say that it is hard to burn the fat off your lower abs. That may be because of the reason above (overworking them), And make sure you have a good & healthy diet to go along with it also. You may also want to do more cardio, You should probably step up to 4 days workout and 2 days cardio if your not seeing much results from doing 3 and 1 cardio. Try and not do ab exercises every day of your routine (Rest is the key remember).

So in the end just try to have a good eating diet, Mix up your routines (if you have been on the same one for awhile) & don't have ab exercises every day. And try doing more cardio!

Hope you acheive your goals! Good luck.

Isn't your core resistant to fatigue?

Isn't your core resistant to fatigue?

I used to think so. But apparently you shouldn't work your core every day.

And now that I'm not (I'm only working my core 3-4 times a week), my abs/core looks a whole lot better and everything feels a lot better, too. Go figure ...

Thanks to everyone. But i dont think i over work my abs ..i work out every other day ..which are usually m,w,f ..and so i let my abs rest for 1 day. i also do different routines everytime i work my abs, i have 2 sets of routines i use interchangeably.

i probably will do more cardio. that is my biggest problem ..i hate to run! anyhow i guess ill suck it up and try it!

on another question ..how many out there use suppliments to burn fat or to get more ripped? i pick up magazines everywhere and see all these suppliments out there!! i am very skeptical about these things but wanted to see how many of you guys use them and work..

I don't use anything but diet and EFAs to lose fat.

When I do something on my own steam, it means more to me. It just takes a little longer. I'd rather do it that way than take a pile of stimulants.
