Get In Shape?

Hello there,
Im 18 years old, 6'3", and 230lbs. I play hockey, and I am a goalie. I was wondering about exercises that i could do to help me lose about 20lbs and get me in shape. I am not completely out of shape, but I would like to be more fit than I am now. My main goal is to lose an inch or two in my waistline. Anything you can tell me would be much apreciated. Thanks!

your best bet would be to include weight training, cardiovascular work and a good meal plan. the idea is to burn more calories than you're eating.

for weight training go with basic movements like squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, chins and dips with some arm, calf and ab work thrown in

for cardiovasular pick something that you enjoy and go at it. stuff like running, walking, biking, roller blading, jumping rope, running stairs, etc

and do you have a meal plan in place?

meal plan?

No, i dont have a meal plan in place. I basicly just try and eat as healthy as i can (whole wheat bread, skim milk, vegetables, chicken, etc.) Being at university makes eating healthy difficult. Any ideas for a meal plan though, would be awesome.

PS. Also, what would be good ab exercises?

Thanks for the grocery list. What about ab exercises? Anything good for losing waist line? right now I do situps and crunches.

personally i love crunches on a swiss ball holding a dumbell and i started a few weeks ago with planks and side planks. i believe they're also referred to as bridges. been doing some barbell rollouts also.

someone hipped me to whats called "pikes" and "hanging pikes". still trying to learn whats that about. :)

and remember, your diet is what is really gonna make the difference in your waist line. ;)
