Cohen's Lifestyle Geo's weightloss journey

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
thanks Nicky! i'm very determined to loose the weight. today i realised that the ache in the knee i have each time i climb the stairs is gone! i am sooooo happy about it..so happy that i purposely climbed stairs to test it out! haha...the pain was a constantly reminder that i was grossly overweight...it's amazing how loosing just close to 2kg can have such an impact...i am all the more motivated! Cheers to Day 5.

I wasn't able to post over the weekend as i was terribly busy...i had to work full-day on saturday as i brought the pupils out for a competition. and sunday i was busy preparing my meals for this week. my husband is upset that we aren't spending time together because of my work commitments...as such, i decided to accompany him for a movie yesterday afternoon. and before i knew it, sunday was gone...anyway, today is a week since i began the programme and i absolutely love how my pants are getting a lil loose!
I bought asparagus, celery, tomatoes and baby spinach at the supermarket yesterday. This week's gonna be a beef, chicken and fish week. Finally managed to get the canola oil spray...had been cooking without oil the whole of last week.
Yesterday, i accompanied my husband to the cafe where he had his breakfast and i a diet coke. After he was done with his breakfast, we came home and i made some cheese melt on crackers. I loved them. They were good. i've only just gotten creative with my food allowance after i read the recipes thread...I hope to make the cheese melt again this week as i'm getting tired of the yogurt. anyway, time to go now...might be back later.

Hey, Geo - getting creative with our food allowances is really key! I loved how I was discovering new recipes and becoming more adventurous with my food. Previously, eating instant noodles for dinner was considered ok. :p

Hooray for loose pants!

8 beautiful days on the programme today...today i feel that i've got this new burst of energy...there was cheerleading practice at school today and i had this unexplainable energy teaching the students the cheers..and that was like at 5pm!
anyway, i had chicken soup with spinach and tomatoes for dinner..I have to get up earlier tomorrow so that i can make my cheese melts...end of Day 8. Adios!

geo

the cheese melts didn't happen...i was so tired and i struggled to get out of bed this morning..i think i'm burnt out at work...i've got an interview coming up this saturday...hopefully it'll work and then i can leave this nasty place...
anyway, i was happy to see the scales today...weight first thing in the morning= 82.3! :)
i hope i can sustain the happiness throughout the day..

Geo, I'm sending you a big hug right back. It seems like we both need big hugs. Take care my friend. I hope you can find a better job where you are appreciated & are happy, xoxo Cate

thanks darlings..
my husband asked me how much of weight i have lost...and he was amazed that i've dropped 2.8kg within 9 days. anyway, i managed to run away from work like 20 mins after official knock off time...went to the supermarket and bought beef. i cooked my dinner of chicken soup with celery and tomatoes and also prepared lunch for tomorrow and thurs...friday would be tuna day. I also made my husband his dinner, fish curry. and i wasn't tempted...not even to taste it b4 serving him. just told him to help himself to the salt if it was bland..thank god for my estimation today, he said it was fine...i don't know why but i was rather hungry today. so tomorrow i'm gonna have beef soup for lunch. the soup should fill me up...other than that i'm fine...just a lil tired from all that cooking...catch you darlings tomorrow...goodnight.

Hey Geo

Just finished your diary and well done so far. You are really doing great. I also became more and more energetic as I started my weightloss journey. My knee problems have also eased up a bit (have had 3 knee ops on the left knee) the pain is much less.

I love soup and would really like your chicken soup recipe - if you don't mind sharing please.

Keep the focus and just go go go!!!!

Hey Mands,
thank you very much for reading my diary and for the kind words. So here's the chicken soup recipe

Ingredients
chicken (allowance)
diced Celery (from allowance)
diced tomatoes (from allowance)
diced Cabbage (from allowance)
I like to have more cabbage than celery and tomatoes.
Dried rosemary leaves(about 10 )
Black pepper to taste
pinch of Garlic salt (be sure to check the label, make sure there isn't anything that's not allowed in your plan)

Method
1) Marinate the chicken with the garlic salt and 5 rosemary leaves (at least for 20mins)
2) In a pot bring to boil about 600 ml of water with abt 5 dried rosemary leaves (so that the rosemary will release it's fragrance)
3) When water boils, add in the chicken. Let it boil and then simmer for 10 mins (to release the flavour)
4) Add celery and cabbage (they take sometime to cook)
5) Add tomatoes after celery and cabbage are cooked.
6) Sprinkle pepper
It's ready to serve! I don't add salt directly to the soup as i marinate the chicken with the garlic salt. Enjoy!

i'm having serious doubts now...this morning when i weighed, i was a 81.4kg..yesterday morning i was an 82.3kg...are my scales faulty? i'm using digital scales.. do people on cohen's really loose that much of weight within a day...that's like a 900gram difference...close to 1kg...is that real?

haha...jus couldn't believe it, cate. my husband texted me while i was at work and asked that question...he's been keeping track of my weight and he can't believe the overnight drop in weight...
i had chicken soup with stir-fried spinach for dinner...feeling full after having my mango. when i got home from work today, i baked the cheesecake found in the recipe thread...i couldn't get diet sprite so i used diet coke! LOL! talk about improvising, aye? anyways, it looks fine...just not as dark as in the picture that was on that recipe thread. can't wait for breakfast tomorrow...nitey nite folks!

hey dietgrrl!
cheesecake was not too bad actually. i closed my eyes and imagined they were the Hilton Hotel's cheesecakes..haha..just that my crust was a little too dry. but the taste of cola was subtle so that's okay...
anyway, 2 mini cheesecakes are keeping me full. had them at 6.30am. almost 4 hours ago and i'm still fine. Just had an orange coz i had to. Anyway, i was a little upset this morning i put on 600grams. i probably sound ridiculous but how did that happen? i've been weighing my food meticulously...is the weight gain because of the soups i'm having? they are clear soups actually...hmm i'm puzzled. the only thing new i've had yesterday was the artificial sweetener (EQUAL)...

dinner was sooooo difficult! my mum sent some paella over for my husband...and it was just sooo difficult. both my parents are fantastic cooks....for the first time since i began cohen, my mouth started to water...i've said no to the chocolates at work, there's a huge chocolate chip cookie on my desk at work. i don't even feel like eating it...not even when my colleagues had chicken rice....man it was jus soo soo difficult to say no...i sniffed in as much as i wanted...oh those beautiful chorizos, prawns, calamari and rice...sigh...i almost cried before i returned to my bowl of clear chicken and celery broth.

Geo, It would have been fluid for sure. Drinking more works for sure. If you are not drinking enough your body hangs onto it. How often are you weighing yourself? Our weight fluctuates constantly and weighing too often will risk doing your head in. Cate, left hand on hip, right hand waggling, says "Stay off the scales Geo!" Stick to Cohen's 100% & the weight will come off. Well done on strengthening your resolve & resisting paella. Perhaps next time your husband could eat it at their place or ask them not to bring it over. I'm sure they want you to be healthy & slim so it's not very fair to you putting such temptation under your nose. Do they think you are starving him or something? LOL. You are doing this Geo & doing it well. let nothing stand in your way, xoxo Cate

Hey cate, i badly needed that. haha...i will try...seriously. :Angel_anim:
I think my mum is afraid that i'm probably starving him....that's why she sent the paella over...but after that incident, i told myself that if i could resist that, i can resist anything...it was like the ultimate test of my resistance i suppose...i will remember that experience.. yea, i realise that on wednesday i probably didn't have 2 litres at work. The operations manager was too lazy to top up the water cooler...:iamwithstupid: and i had to buy mineral water from the canteen. that only came up to 1.4 litres the most..thanks cate and dietgrrl. i didn't realise that not drinking enough water could up the weight....now i will take it seriously.
so the pants are feeling even more baggy today..and this morning when my hubby gave me a hug before i left our house, he commented that he could feel the difference as well! yeah! so i'm a happy camper today...and the weekend is here! hoooray!

Enjoy your week-end Geo. I read somewhere "The more you drink, the more you shrink" & I took that on board & ended up drinking way too much & had to cut it back! 2-3 litres a day is perfect. You made me smile today :D xoxo Cate
