Hi all. Thanks for looking at my post.
I am a 37 year old dad of a 3 year old girl. Since she came in to my life i have let myself go and now have a big fat belly. My little girl has so much energy daddy is having trouble keeping up with her, she runs around and plays all day long and expects daddy to as well, but daddy is knackered by around 10 am, and this is the reason I need to get my bum off the sofa and get fit and healthy. I want to be able to play and run around with my girl all day every day I want to put a smile on her face as she does on mine.
So guys i need to get fit and healthy . At the moment i weigh 233lbs and would like to lose around 50lbs.

Hi Jen
My plan is to change my eating habits as all i eat is junk. Im not a gym guy so you wont see me in one of them, instead i will be out in the country side walking jogging and so on. Plus i plan to take my daughter on more outside activities and even take her swimming.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Plenty of people lose weight without ever stepping foot inside a gym.

Eating properly in front of a toddler is important anyway. Kids copy all the things. Best of luck!

Hi, Gavin & welcome to the forum. Your plan sounds like a good one. Changing your diet & cutting out junk food would eliminate most of that 50 lbs. You sound like a lovely dad & you & your daughter will both benefit from your improved lifestyle change. Good for you :)

Best of luck, Gavin.

Your daughter is adorable and she’ll love the extra outdoors stuff.

Gyms are not for everyone and diet is, in my humble view, the much bigger part of the equation.

Have a great day of good choices!

Hi Gavin,
I know exactly what you mean about not being a gym guy. I changed my physique without going to a gym and all my workouts are at home. I know you tend to see a lot of the same advice all the time but doing some strength training while you're losing weight is a really good idea, not to help weight loss but to retain muscle. You can lose quite a lot of muscle when you diet. You don't need to buy any equipment to do strength training at home, bodyweight training and a few household items will get you a great workout, and just a few workouts a week will make a big difference. Some of the best exercises (in my opinion) i.e. Push ups, pull ups, dips, squats and some form of overhead press can be done with no specialised equipment. I used a sandbag in a pillowcase for a year as a cheap powerbag! But it works exactly the same. Also you don't need to be working out hours a day, a full body workout every other day is a great place to start. Also bear in mind the more muscle you have on your body the more calories your body needs so another good reason to keep that muscle and make you less likely to put weight back on after the diet. Good luck buddy, happy to chime in with opinions if you have any questions.
