Good Morning Everyone!
Ok, today I begin a new mission. I earlier started dieting with a 2000 calorie intake, but found that I was doing it all wrong. At the end of some days, I was worried because I had only gone up to around 1600 calories and would eat a PBJ then go to bed.
WRONG!!! Oh, man, what was I thinking. Now, it IS true that I lost 2.25 lbs doing this for a week, but wow....I ate when I wasn't hungry...just to meet my goal for minimum calorie consumption.....not good.
Today, I am beginning anew with a revised and revamped (new foods) 1600 calorie diet. I will be posting everything that crosses my lips (full color nude food photographs!! ALLRIGHT!!!).
Of course, I would love to hear any feedback about how healthy I am being. Am I eating the wrong foods? Am I not adding enough fruit? What about my fat content????
LET ME KNOW. I have been an 'after' before (lost almost 100lbs) and I am tired of being a convicted 'before'. And I was HOT too when I was an 'after'. My wife told me every day!!! AND I had girls looking at me!...no, not just looking at me....HITTING on me....DAMMIT that pisses me off that I GAVE THAT UP!...now, I just get the 'glance, head down' as we pass each other....unless I have my son Ashton with me....he's a cutie...they look at him...
Anyways....lets get off that...thats NOT why I am doing this. I had a dream last night that I had to be put on insulin....scared the shit out of me....so this is the last straw.
Anyways..I hope everyone will be supportive and helpful during my mission.

Dinner was not nice...it was terribly undercarloried, so I added a coke to make things up....

I also take a Lunesta, which is kicking in now...i can see the beautiful glowing butterflyy...i i gottahit the bed....laters folks!!!

We'll see what we come up with for breakfast in the am....

:eek:Bro 1600 cals is not enough you were way closer with the pbj's and 2500 cals. IF you were losing at 2500 why would you lower your cals so drastically. You are making things really hard on yourself. I will post some links that explain but read the stickies you are 250lbs you need way more then 1600 cals imho. Good luck and I hope things work out for ya though
 
its actually cool man...that week I lost lbs was a tough week for me...i didn't finish all that I ate, and I was getting more exercise than normal because we had family in and we played tennis and were out and about all day long. Yesterday, when I did around 14-1500 I felt full. I've read all of Steve's stuff on starvation mode with too few calories, but my normal office life doesnt have alot of activity in it. So I'm going with fewer cals. When I lose another 5 or so lbs, I'll go ahead and begin to add more physical activity and more cals with it.

I'm pretty much a veteran dieter, it's just that this is my first go at low cal dieting. I'd rather do the atkins thing, and drop 50 lbs in a month, but the yoyo effect with atkins is just too much to bear.....let alone the salt in take and feeling like a salt block all day long.

I also have a fear about the excess skin if you lose way too fast....1lb to 2lbs a week is going to be just fine by me...but i appreciate the info and concern!!!

Lunch could not come fast enought. We are so busy in the office today, and I just upgraded an older computer. When my coworker came in with this...I was ready to go.

I just realized that since I am keeping my bosses (uncles) kids...i won't be able to weigh myself until Thursday morning!!! WTF??!!!?....im a weigh a day guy....

I guess I'll just deal with it. But I tell you what...Thursday mornings post will suck if i havent lost anything.....

I don't mean to be rude but it doesn't exactly look like you're eating very well. Don't get me wrong, my freezer has a nice little lean cuisine assortment for those nights when I don't want to make dinner - but it looks like you're having prepackaged food at least twice a day. I would definitely try to broaden your food horizons. I eat around 1500 calories a day and it seems like I eat a lot more than you...
a typical day would be
cereal and skim milk for breakfast
cheese and crackers
sandwich and veggies for lunch
apple
chicken stir-fry for dinner (loaded with veggies)
banana

the point of the matter is its important to meet all your body's nutritional needs in a day, even at 1500 calories.
 
i just read something that really caught my attention, you had a coke to increase your calories because you hadn't eaten enough that day...?!?!?
My grandpa died of diabetes, and if you're worried about being put on insulin the #1 thing you should do is cut pop out of your life for good. Even diet pop without calories causes blood sugar spikes. I read an article in the newspaper that drinking a can of pop a day, even diet, increases your chance of diabetes by 40%. Pop is a nutritionally void liquid that is absorbed rapidly into your blood stream so it causes blood sugar (ie. insulin) spikes.

I appreciate the words...im actually trying to get it out for good. I used to down about 6 cans of coke a day....now im down to about one bottle(2.5 servings). I hope by the end of the month to be coke free.

There are several things that I like about it, usually because I drink mountain dew or vault, i get the caffiene. But there are even more things that I dont like about it. The sugar I've found really weighs me down, which is why i have started to drink more water. Im up to about 9 glasses a day.

The diabetic thing does worry me...but coke is a strong addiction...i grew up in a coke family. Im changing that in my family. My son is almost two years old, and he has never had any. Not even a drink. Of course he's a new age baby(no juice except for what he gets through fruit and veggies that we feed him.) Otherwise, he drinks whole milk and water. The good thing about it is, he's ready for bed at 9, and never wines to stay up later. Without all that sugar in his body, he gets tired like a normal child should.

My wife and I are still taking care of my Uncles kids, so I still haven't weighed in several days. I can NOT believe Karen does not own a scale. Drives me batty.

Yes Freshman15....another prepackaged food. But lunch is the other half of that veggie sandwich from yesterday. It should be awesome.

My family actually doesn't drink pop at all. My problem is when I am counting calories, diet pop is such a convenient thing to have handy. Instead of cracking and eating a chocolate bar I can just have a coke zero. But thats not very often... cutting pop out of your diet is definitely a must.
