Well I decided I should try to start a weight loss diary on this site, hopefully it will encourage me to remain committed and give people the chance to give me advice/tips on how I’m doing.
Here are the answers to the questions the welcome page suggests I start with:

-- How much weight do you want to lose? At least 100lbs

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? As long as it takes

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Reduced calorie diet and exercise

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? Friends, Family, hopefully this forum :)

-- How realistic is your goal? Very realistic, given a long term commitment

-- When will you start? I’m currently on day 16

A little about myself:
I’m a 25 year old male living in Northwest Washington. I am self employed .
I don’t currently own a scale, but the last time I was weighed (around a year ago) I weighed about 330lbs.
I have been overweight since I was in my teens, and I’ve been around the 300lb mark for the past 3-5 years.
For years now I’ve planned on losing weight, but I've never been motivated enough to follow through with it, now that I’m getting older though I feel I really need to make this happen now otherwise I may jeopardize my future health and happiness.

Currently I don’t plan on cutting anything completely out of my diet, I just want to reduce my calorie intake to below 2000 calories per day, later on I may focus on a overall healthy diet, but for now I figure its best to take baby steps.
I haven’t started any exercise routine yet, I want to focus on my diet for now, but once I feel pretty set on my diet I plan on joining my local gym to begin a exercise routine.
I’ve been keeping a journal of all the food I've eaten since I started my diet, I’m going to post the first 16 days of my diet that I have completed and then post updates a few times a week.
I welcome all comments/suggestions anyone may have for me.

I plan on “rewarding myself” with a scale after staying on my diet for 30 days, after that time I will be able to post updates on my actual weight loss/gain.

Lunch: Top ramen
Snack: Teddy grams w/ a root beer
Dinner 1 ½ BLT sandwich w/ baked french fries.

Lunch: BLT w/ sun chips (630 calories)
Snack: One large apple (100 calories)
Snack: One banana (105 calories)
Dinner: Two breaded chicken breasts, 5 chicken nuggets and about 1 cup of potato salad (around 1130 calories)

Lunch: Ham sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo (469 calories) plus a bag of

Snack: 1 apple (90 calories)
Dinner: 1 piece four cheese lasagna (634 calories) and 3 slices of garlic bread (500 calories)

I’m looking forward to being able to weigh myself and hopefully watch the number steadily decline, at the same time though I’m somewhat dreading finding out the real starting number… But I guess the starting number doesn’t matter so much as the eventual ending number :)

I cheated on my diet for the first time on Friday, I went to the movies and saw Kung-Fu Panda and Narnia 2.
I ended up having my typical movie foods, which is pizza, soda and candy.
The calories added up to a bit more than I was hoping for and it may be even higher since I don't have any nutritional information on the pizza.
On the whole though I don't think one day, regardless of the calorie in-take, will have too much of an effect on my diet.

Sunday (fathers day) was the second time in the past three days that I have broken the 3000 calorie mark during my diet.
I suppose the one silver lining is that I was pretty active over the weekend, since we finally had some nice weather, so at least I burned a few more calories than I normally do.
I don’t have anything scheduled as far as eating out over the next few weeks, so hopefully I will be able to get back on track and not have any more 3000 calorie plus days in the near future.

I was a couple days late, but I picked up a scale today at Costco.
According to my new scale I weigh in at 352.2lbs, this is a little higher than I expected, but just all the more reason to continue my diet and get that number down to something more healthy.
For now I’m planning on weighing myself once a week, Monday mornings.

I went to the movies again on Friday, I saw Indiana Jones 4 and the Love Guru, just like the last time I went to the movies it was a pretty bad calorie day.

The next thing I’ve thought about as a reward is a Wii-Fit when I hit 320lb, they are suppose to be pretty fun and it should help me burn a few extra calories.
 
I’ve been pretty busy so I haven’t had time to update this thread, however I’ve still been sticking to my dieting (for the most part) and keeping track of what I’m eating.
We had a BBQ on the 4th and 5th, it seems like Fridays are becoming a regular cheat day every week.
My weight last Monday was 344.6lb and this Monday its 343.4lb, not a big loss but I’m happy as long as the number continues to drop.
