Full body workouts

bill starr had a 3 day a week full body program in his book the strongest shall survive that was very effective. as long as you work with the volume and intensity and not go full blast it'll do fine

Benny, Abear's been doing the 5X5 (fullbody workout) for a bit now and his gains have been really good. On the fullbody routine, you get the same amount of work in, you just have to tweak volume over the week; plus, you get teh bonus of higher frequency.

so for full body how many excercises should be done per muscle group??

im so used to splits that id be thinking im not working enough but i really need to burn some fat rather than build size.

3x a week is totally fine. You can even go to 6x but you need to make sure you're not over exerting yourself (you would have to cut down on intensity). Studies have shown that muscle can start to repair and grow whilst still being subjected to load.

Another board I sit on has guys who do a range of 3x to 6x a week work outs with phenominal gains.

But yeh, 3x is pretty cool for most.

1...maybe 2 depending on volume and conditioning considerations.
exactly. this is not based on the narrow bodybuilding point of view of hitting every single muscle group with 4 different exercises ;)
