From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

I can't help but comment on this. I see your point, acknowledge it, and agree somewhat. I also want to state that knowledge is power; public schools seem to withhold information, and I'm not certain if it's an accident or an agenda (I suspect the latter)--but if students learned early about the world's cultural richness, their minds would be so opened that they might start converting, denouncing, or annihilizing. And their parents wouldn't like that. You can disagree with me all you want, but while I personally like the idea, I've constantly dealt with New Age ideas begin stomped out with Old Traditional Customs and it ain't pretty. Nor is it pretty when you get into "preserving" customs and the idea of authenticity......uh oh. Forgeddabout it, nevermind.

I completely agree with you, Curvie Girlie. Its a slippery slope one way or the other.

Thanks for letting me hijacking your thread, Tyly.

I know what you mean about gaining a couple pounds and it feeling like so much more, LOL. Funny how that is. When you lose it it feels like a drop in the bucket. When you gain it it feels like the weigh of the world.

Hey, we're probably the same weight right now (I'm at 148) and we both have the same goal. So, I'm with you and Valerie in shedding those pounds ASAP!

:hurray: I forgot to weigh myself this a.m. but I think I'm at 145 or 146  I'm aiming to be 140 by Halloween, I think. My costumes the past 3 years have been a schoolgirl, a bunny, and a native American. This year I'm a NINJA and almost every inch of my skin will be covered--BUT it would be nice to be light and strong, so I can skulk around quick and silently :D

Hey Tyly :)

Thanks for stopping by over in my diary. Looks like your getting pretty busy with the new school year already in swing. Don't sweat the 3/4 of a pound too much... ;)

-Sam

Oh my sweet, sweet Sam... if only it was 3/4 of a pound... it's actually like 3 or 4 pounds! Maybe even 5 on a bad day!

Like I said, I still fit into everything, just not the same way.

BUT, in happy news, I might possibly have a wedding to use as motivation... MY OWN WEDDING, that is!!! :)

We aren't engaged yet, but it's getting very close to that point! So close that we are going ring shopping tomorrow (to give the poor boy a clue! Lol!), and he told me to go ahead and start booking the wedding stuff to make sure we get the date we want!!! I want to teach summer school again (ends late June), and we want to get married in the summer (with us both being teachers), so we decided on July 11! So our anniversary will (hopefully!) be 7-11! Lol! Slurpee, anyone?

I'll keep you all posted!!! :)

OK, well, that certainly sounds like being engaged to me. Granted I have only been engaged once but that is pretty much what I remember.

Uhm... Did he ask you? Did you say "Yes" That's engaged. If he just said, "hey, ya wanna pick out a ring?" then that's not engaged. Just my take on it.

Very happy for you either way because if you are not now, you will be soon.

hey, I haven't stopped by in a while. Hope you're coping with being teaching again after the holidays..

Wow, congratulations on your engagement (??) that is so exciting!

I have only just (1 week ago) moved out with my bf, so that's excitement enough for me now!

Congratulation on your pending engagement!!!

Remember you will gain a good pound post engagement... because of the massive rock he's going to buy. LOL. Just take the ring off before you weigh yourself!

Thanks everyone!!! It's really exciting! :D

Time for clarification: We're not officially engaged. We both know we want to get married next summer, but I still want him to get down on one knee and ask. :D We're going to browse for rings so he'll have a clue about what I want, but he won't be buying it then. I'll just show him which rock belongs on my finger! :D He'll go back and buy it some other time without me, and then he'll propose. I still want the experience / surprise of being proposed to. I know it's coming, but I don't know when, how, etc.

You definitely deserve a proposal...and the ring you like.

I had shown my fiance what I liked long before the engagement. Then it was a total surprise when he proposed.

He's gonna have to work real hard to surprise you now.

EEEEEEKKKKKK!!!!! How exciting! I'm so happy for you! I understand about you wanting an "official" proposal before calling yourself engaged. I would want that too. lol You will be a breath-taking bride!

We did something similar on rings. We went all around and I picked out 1 ring in each store as my "favorite" and then he chose from those. I could be surprised and he could "pick it out" but the risk of me not liking it was removed!

Eek! I'm here, I'm here! :)

I must say that I am proud of my teaching this year. I have seen such a such a huge improvement in myself, but unfortunately that leaves less time for fun stuff. I used to spend waaay too much time playing on the computer, socializing with staff, etc., but not anymore! I also bring work home to ensure that I am completely caught up and prepared for everything. Geez... I kind of sucked before! :D

James and I went and found where we're gettin' hitched! :) It is perfect, because they do everything for us! The do all the food, decorations, set up, clean up, etc. Neither of us has family here to help, so this is such a huge relief! Plus, I don't know anything about the local vendors so it helps that I don't have to worry about any of that stuff! The only thing I found myself was the photographer, because I am anal about pictures! We'll get married outdoors and have a reception indoors. Now all I have to do is get engaged! :D
