From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Hey Q, I am new here, don't know you.

Running more than a mile a day in the 320s is impressive, that has to be tough. Other than being on the wagon what is you plan?

I have not completely given up drinking, but have cut way back, it helps.

Hi Gator! Running in the 320s is made easier since I have run every day since I was 245. Consequently I have calves that can repel projectiles.

The main plan is to increase exercise and focus on a whole food plant-based diet. I'll probably end up counting calories and weighing daily, but I haven't committed to those yet.

How's life other than the running and diet, Q? Any news? So nice to see you back x

I'm doing okay Hana. My wife and I have both been promoted recently. I'm now head of the biology group at my environmental firm. My wife's position is hard to explain, but a similar level.

I've started making electronic devices and learning enough programming to make them work. Still early in the hobby, but I've built and programmed a few keyboards from kits and a few simple projects from components.

Tldr: dork stuff

The classic example would be Hercules lifting a calf onto his shoulders and walking (running?) around the stadium until one day the calf had grown so much he could carry a cow on his shoulders. Don't ask me how he kept the cow calm though - and I think I would've remembered if the story had mentioned arrows being shot at any of the calves involved...

Q- There is something so right about having you back here, even if you may think you are here for the wrong reasons.
I think I am ready to explore eating less meat & a more plant focussed diet after a week of eating that way by chance really. I feel so much better for it.

I thought of that parable, but then I realized I was both Hercules and the fat cow in my version.

That's really cool Cate! I'm down for fielding questions on the plant based eating. I haven't done right, but I still know how to do it right.

One question, Q. Does your body adjust to eating legumes and pulses? I had hummus for breakfast & lunch yesterday. I'm not going to go vegan & will still eat fish, but I think the main thing is really cutting out processed meat like salami in particular & really eating only small portions of meat, but maybe phasing it out altogether.

Cate, here is my bean advice: soaking dried beans removes an acid that enhances their gas causing potential. Cooking with kombu (seaweed) adds minerals and is supposed to make them more digestible. Do those things and start with tiny servings and increase the amount gradually. I can get to were I can eat a big bowl of beans with negligible effect, but your mileage may vary.

I like seeing a nice set of calves lol but did you know calf implants are a common form of plastic surgery in men ?
I've seen it and it's hilariously awful. And a great example of how the beauty industry isn't just a danger for women.
Cate it took me almost half a year to build up my legume tolerance to useful levels but these days I don't have a problem with them at all as long as I rinse them well before use (lazy single person doesn't cook from dried...). Everyone's different though, as Q said.

I'm gobsmacked!
Not sure what gobsmacked means, but I think I am too.
