From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Indeed we are Q & we don't give up. Great strength of character doing what needed to be done.

Thanks Cate!

So yesterday was 2 miles in 24 minutes and 2,300 calories. Dinner made my stomach upset and the weight went up this morning back to 249.2. I'll stick with 1,700 again today and avoid the leftovers from last night.

A minimum run and 2,400 calories last night. The weight shot up to 251.6 which really sucks. I made gluten free soda bread last night so I have figured out that flour, even without gluten makes me bloat like crazy. I'm eating calories that should theoretically still result in weight loss and I've gained 5.4 pounds in a few days. This does not make me happy. I need to go back to no processed foods if I want to lose like the past month. I hate that I'm back in the 250s. I'll try to stay positive, but now I know how changing what I eat affects my weight.

I wanted to add that what I weigh today is frustrating, but how I react to it is what matters. I won't be making any breads for a while and I'm going to step up my running and step down my calories to head back in the right direction. It should drop down quickly.

Thanks Cate! If only instantly was an option.

What I did do was a hard run for 2 hilly miles. 20:48 was tougher than I wanted it to be, but hilly road miles are still tougher than track miles.I should hit right at 1,700 tonight. I cut 200 calories out of my workday food so I can eat a big dinner without going over.

247.2 this morning. That is an improvement, but it doesn't look like I'll have a loss this week for my Saturday weigh in.

Sounds like that one high weigh-in really was bloating from food sensitivity. Don't cut your cals by so much for too long by the way, need to keep your strength up and all that!

You're for sure doin' the right thing by keeping track and going through the process of elimination on what works - doesn't. :seeya:
Look at that run streak! :hurray:
Great Job!

Do you run different routes every day? Like, do you mix it up to keep it "fresh?"

Thanks Cate!
Thanks LaMa!
Thanks Stacy!

Chef, I have the indoor track, a short circuit of pretty level road, and a long circuit of very hilly road. I tried out a nice park trail Saturday and we need to clean up our woods trail.

I did 7.15 miles Saturday and my knee and back stopped me from doing more. I'm still hurting, but it's better. I didn't count calories at all yesterday and I ate a lot of chips. I didn't weigh either. Hurting made me feel really stressed so I just took a break on the diet front. I'm back to counting today. I ran a mile yesterday to keep the streak going. Easy run again tonight.

I feel like running on hilly terrain would make me hate myself. Just the ups and down of the uneven ground would wreak havoc on my ankles.

I let off the brakes Thursday on a steep and long downhill for the first time and the knee that I had surgery on flared up. The long run Saturday exacerbated it and the back pain is probably from the same thing. You have to test your abilities from time to time. That's why I know I'm not ready to power down the hills yet. Running hills is an added challenge for sure. Something to ease into.

Sorry to hear it, but I´m glad you have things under control so much. Its great that you trust your body enough to try and - if it doesn´t work yet - heal without too much trouble.

Hi Q,

Great job on the running.Take it slow and easy. When you run hills your time up the hill should be the same as the time down unless you are running a race-lol

I understand the testing yourself & letting go, but it's a pity you felt the pain. Cowboy's advice sounds like good advice. Take care Q xo

I really admire you and your dedication for exercising. Your logging some fantastic miles, but I'm so sorry your knee is bothering you. I hope it's just a short issue and will feel better soon.

It's interesting that gluten free bread makes you bloat. Have you ever looked into the Wheat Belly lifestyle? It's basically what you said you're going to do, all fresh / no processed foods. No wheat, grains, etc. I'm hoping to give it a go if I can get myself back on track. A lot of people have amazing luck with it and it's supposedly great for reversing health issues (for me it would be RA). Just wanted to suggest it in case you hadn't heard of it. :)
