From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Thanks from both of us Cate and LaMa!

248.2 for my long run rebound weight this morning so I'm hopeful that the 250s are behind me for good. 1 slow sore mile ran to keep the streak alive. My legs feel better now that before so I really believe that active recovery is the way to go.

In 2.2 more pounds I will have lost 30% of my bodyweight since joining WLF in 12/2012. I've lost 26% since 1/2014 when the running started. I actually lost and regained weight in 2013, but the net was 4.6% lost. 29.4% bodyweight lost total. The standard medical advice is that your health improves markedly with a 10% body weight reduction and I'm nearly at the 3x that. It will be 43.3% by 198 so 29.4% bodyweight lost and 13.9% left to lose. 102.6 pounds lost and 48.6 left to lose.

That's me reading your statistic-heavy post.

Seriously though, DAMN!!! That's awesome, man. I have to say, not only is your weight loss a huge accomplishment but the fact that you managed to find a method of losing weight that works well for you is a huge accomplishment as well. You've lost the majority of your weight since you started your running streak and I think you've known it was working from day one. Ok, maybe like day ten or twelve or something, but you get my point.

Congrats, Q. Getting to 30% is HUGE.

Thanks a lot Chef. I didn't realize how drastic the difference was until I did the stats. To be fair it wasn't like I was trying to lose weight all of 2013 with hardly any results. I had some success during that year, but had a trend of weight gain that ended the year almost where I started. Regardless running has kept me heading in the right direction for more than 2 years which is a first. With my plant-based whole foods diet and ramping up my running I think I'll be at a healthy weight fairly soon.

So 249.2 this morning which is a second uptick in a row just like the last two weeks. Unlike the last two weeks I've gone back up, but stayed under 250. I officially say goodbye to the 250s today. The last major permanent milestone on my weight loss journey. Good riddance!

Fantastic job, Q. Wow you should be really proud of yourself. That is awesome. Funny I was looking at some diaries of people that have been here from when I started. Lots are gone but there are still some of them around. I think we should all go back to the first posts and introductory post we all did and re-read where we were and where we wanted to go. Then see where we are today and if it is working - FANTASTIC. If it isn't then, reevaluate and try again. You are inspiring to a lot of us. You have persevered and stuck to it and it is working. Quite an accomplishment. Even though you aren't quite there, I know you will be. Congrats!

Thanks a lot Cowboy! I'm way past my initial goal to lose 70 - 80 pounds. If someone could go back and tell new WLF me that I'd lose over 100 and be working on nearly 50 more he wouldn't believe it.

Thanks LJ! I remember being happy to get there.

Thanks Cate!

247.6 this morning so my 2.6 pound rebound that I've had 3 weeks in a row is retreating quicker each week.

Very sweet Stacy! Thank you!

248.0 this morning with 2,300 calories and a pretty high amount of sodium being the culprit. I pushed hard for a bit over 2 miles on my run last night and I feel rather tired. I need to take it easy tonight and get to bed early.

248.6 after 2,100 calories and an easy recovery mile last night. Being overly tired made my appetite increase. The midweek rebound is different, but hopefully after plenty of sleep last night, today will be less than 2,000.

Wow I dropped 2.2 pounds since yesterday to squeak to a new low of 246.4. I hit 1,800 calories yesterday with 1 mile run for day 457 of the runstreak. I have my food planned out for 1,900 today with a track run tonight. I'm hoping for another good drop for tomorrow morning. Surprisingly I still feel a bit run down. Recovery from long runs on a significant calorie deficit while running every day is tough. Writing that out made me realize that I should not be surprised that I'm tired. No shit I'm tired. The new Quercus is not to be found in his old comfort zone.

Happiest of Fridays WLF!

I agree - running on reduced calories (see what I did there?) definitely leads to a huge decrease in energy. I felt on top of the world at the beginning of this week and after running a mere five times in the past few days has significantly tired me out. So, I can't imagine how I would feel after 400-plus more days of it.

You need a nap, Q. Take a nap. A cat nap.

Thank you Cate, you have a lovely weekend too!

Thanks Chef! It's awesome that you're running so much. I was way more beat up and pooped when I first started running than now, if that's any consolation. Nap? Try sleeping for 11 hours. It was fabulous!

Thanks Polly! You're such a sweetheart. Have a great weekend!

245.2 this morning which is -10.6 this month, -88 since 2014, and -104 since my sign up day here. 47.2 to go to 198.

I ran 2 miles in 17:32 last night for day 457 of the run streak on the indoor track.

Weight loss for February:

Week 1 Mon. - Sat. -6.2 256.0-249.8

Week 2 Sat. - Sat. -2 249.8-247.8 -8.2 total

Week 3 Sat. - Sat. - 1.2 247.8-246.6 -9.4 total

Week 4 Sat. - Sat. -1.4 246.6-245.2 -10.6

Monday has been exactly a 2.6 pound rebound every week so far.

Thanks LaMa and Cate! I have poor memory so recording and comparing numbers helps me to keep up with how things are going. I'm a much more positive person now than a couple years ago, but I still tend towards self-criticism. Quantifying gives me something solid to consider in forming my self-opinion.

Self-criticism is yet another thing we have in common Q. I'm my own biggest critic but I am getting better.

We're always a work in progress Cate.

So I ran just enough to keep the streak going and ate 2,500 calories Saturday and Sunday. So my rebound on Monday was 249.2 which scared me a bit. So I ate 1,700 calories yesterday and dropped back to 247.2 this morning. That calorie level makes running tough. I'm pretty beat feeling today. Long run is planned for Saturday.
