From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Thanks LaMa it will take a while, but it is going to happen.

Howdy stranger! So happy to see you back Sunflower!

I'm down about 45 pounds since the first of the year.

I run 3 times a week and I haven't had alcohol this year.

I've lost 16 pounds this month and the loss was really slow before that, but I have it dialed in now.

I'm eating a mostly vegan diet with little wheat.

Knee injury/infection/surgery derailed my running and I regained 12 pounds while laid up eating like a pig.

The wife is losing fast and running too.

Now you're caught up.

Welcome back!

Oh my god! Erm..so you're certainly still kicking ass. That's amazing! You must be so proud of yourself :) How is it being drink free? Hopeful ill get there too eventually.

Thank you very much!

It was a very hard change, but now I doubt I'll ever drink again. I feel so much better without it. Running has taken its place. It works so much better. The combo of not drinking and running has improved my diet, mood, and energy. It's also saved me a lot of money.

Hi Q, I just caught up with your diary too (hey, what a well-deserved cheer squad you have!) You, sir are one very amazing & inspirational human being! I am so glad to be home again & that includes here in the forum! Cheers, Cate.

Thank you so much Cate! Welcome home Cate!

289.6 this morning. Bleh! The same calories and exercise that had my weight plummeting now has my weight see sawing in the high 280s. Oh well. I have for sure not gone over 2,300. Maybe tonight's run will get things moving. No faltering in my resolve, but it's still a bit of a bummer.

I know you know, but just for reinforcement (*** next to similar sorts of days as today):

26.5 pounds in 74 days and quite a few instances of weight shooting up even more than yours for seemingly little reason. Again, I know you know this, just a little reminder. :D

If you did all the things that you need to do to help you lose the weight you want to lose, you had a fantastic day.

Fantastic job, Q. Keep up the great work.

Just think how happy you would have been with 289 6 months ago! You've done so well, it's bound to come off a bit slower now :) Keep positive lovely x

I am keeping positive and I do know it's just scale weirdness BUT I really appreciate the positive reinforcement! Thank you Vee for taking the time to bust out the datums. Thank you Hana for the perspective and cheerleading. Super glad you're back!

I have decided that when the time change happens on Sunday that we will keep getting up early instead of gaining an hour of sleep. This will give us time for morning workouts or just to get things done. So the clock will say 5 instead of 6, but we won't know the difference.

I will be deer hunting on the weekends starting Saturday. I haven't been eating any meat lately so I am less enthused than normal, but I am sure once I am in the woods waiting for dawn the enthusiasm will come. I don't know that I will even shoot anything this year, but I always enjoy being in the woods in stillness and taking the time to really listen and see nature. I may shoot a deer as I have 2 pistols that I want to use this season and a successful kill is a good reason to switch to the second one. Also if I shoot one I will eat it. A healthy source of meat for when I want/need it will be sorely missed if I don't.

I don't enjoy the cleaning and butchering, but it connects you to your food in a unique way. Hunting and killing an animal also connects you to the food, but if you drive it to the processor and come back to pick up processed frozen meat you've missed an important part. I can tell if the deer is healthy or not, whether it was old or young. I can see the evidence of the drought we've had in the lack of fat and smaller size. I look in their stomach to see what they've eaten. As a biologist this is as much a part of it as the hunting.

I know some of you view hunting as cruel or barbaric and it is to a certain extent. There is cruelty and barbarism to life. There is barbarism to killing an animal to eat its flesh whether it is a domestic cow or a wild creature. I normally kill one or two deer a year. They are taken as humanely as possible from a healthy population that thrives despite the harvest. I do not hunt for trophy and I always eat what I kill. Wild venison is far healthier and has a far lesser impact on the environment than does farmed meat. I'm happy to answer any questions if anyone is curious.

287.2 this morning. New low and 46 pounds for the year and 17 for the month so far.

2,280 calories yesterday

Monday Run
2.5 miles
27:44
164 BPM avg HR

I ran hard and told myself that if I beat a half hour 2.5 mile time I could stop then. This is the fastest I've gone post knee junk. This was below my 172 avg of the past so I suppose it is taking me longer to reach a high HR since I was running pretty close to 100% the whole time.

I also had a couple come talk to me about my running when I finished. The guy runs there pretty regular and they both said I had improved a lot. I've mostly run there post injury so they're speaking about my recent recovery progress. I feel like I've been in a rut so it was welcome feedback. The knees are feeling good. The back is a little cranky from working on the car Saturday and Sunday. I got it going and today it's getting traded in for a pickup.

Hi there! A new low? That's fantastic! And positive feedback from people who are under no obligation to give you any feedback at all is a pretty cool thing. Keep it up!

Man that 164 sounds exhausting, you are definitely pushing yourself. I got that at about 500 calories burned (above what you would have burned watching TV) in under half an hour. Hell of a workout.

Congrats on the new low and also on the compliments you're getting. They will continue.

Thanks Oaks! It feels good!

Thanks Clarissa! I hope you like the nutch.

Vee I was pushing for sure. No ill effects is a major bonus. I'm feeling good today. 500 is pretty legit. Thanks buddy!

Speaking of continuing compliments my company's owner chimed in today that I was getting skinny. He added that he could tell despite my wearing a coat and guessed that the weightloss was why. Being that my job is often physically demanding having the big boss noticing you getting healthy can't be a bad thing. :D

Good job Q! Tell ya, a half hour at 164 BPM is tough - I'd be puking, for sure! I think I can do 150 for half hour, but not above it.

Sounds like a good week for lots of folks. :hurray:

Thanks Hana!

Thanks LJ! The funny part is that I was making the point that 164 is low for me for an all out run. They have been 172 in the past. Whatever the number it wasn't fun.

So now it's a seesaw. 290.0 this morning. I bought my new truck yesterday so lunch and dinner were convenience foods and super high in sodium. I had 2 gluten free tofu scrambles for lunch with 920 mg sodium total and Chipotle sofrita bowl for dinner with an astounding 1980mg of sodium. I suppose that's about the daily allowance for 2,300 calories, but I rarely eat that much. I also ate late and didn't drink enough water. If you don't eat meat, cheese, sour cream, or tortilla then Chipotle is reasonable calorie-wise 595 for last night's bowl and I ate about 2/3rds at dinner and had the rest late before bed. 795 if you add guac. No wonder that stuff tastes good.

Running tonight.

Ah Chipotle. There's one right near my place, but so far I've mostly abstained. The bowls are the way to go even if you do eat meat and cheese.

With the amount of weight you've dropped so far, I'd expect some rebound days like this, it's only natural.
