From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Glad you are starting to feel better and less tired. I'm sure even if you have gained this week that you will be back down in no time.

I ended up at 327.6 on Saturday so I lost that big jump and 2.2 pounds more. Just 127.6 to go!

I'm going for a walk now. This week will be the return to daily exercise.

Thank you MrVee and Cate!

The walk went well. I also decided to go hunt which meant slow deliberate walking up and down hills which felt good. I think that is helpful for increasing my range of motion.

I've given up on yoga for the time being. I have a range of motion with minimal pain and beyond that I have acute pain. Yoga is like a game of operation right now. I be trying a posture and easing into it and it will be this feels good, still fine, bzzzzzt! PT stretches and walking for now.

So happy to hear that you're losing weight again AND that you're feeling well enough to get out and about again. I hope it continues for you. :)

Thanks Mandy!

Did a survey on around 6,000 feet of pipeline yesterday. I walked back to the truck on roads which made it longer, but easier walking. In all it was probably 2.5 miles of walking which is the furthest I've gone by far since the injection. I'm a bit sore and tight so far this morning, but no increase in pain. I was super hungry afterwards and went to be bed by 9:30 and slept like a rock. I'm feeling confident that I can get out of this hole. I feel like I am healing and getting strength back in my back and leg.

I ate like a pig yesterday, but it was out of hunger and I felt I needed it.

I like that one too. I was going to share it on FB, but someone might believe me, so didn't. Some people are just so gullible! They should know I don't eat pizza! (& I don't run) :D Great to see you able to move more Q, without so much pain xo Cate

I'm not gonna lie.... I didn't read your entire diary. But I did read the first and last pages. Haha seems that you are doing great!!! I would love to go for walks. It's autumn, so of course that's the perfect time for walking!
Maybe I should make myself walk to the gym, workout, then walk back home. That should really burn some calories!!
Anyways- good luck!! :)

This week has greeted me with a one day > 5 pound gain again. I think I'm going back to counting calories and tracking via my fitness pal and only weighing on Saturdays and when I feel like it. I'm not doing well with my diet or I'd be losing weight. I hate counting calories. Oh well.

I went for a brief walk last night. I had to set up a live trap out in the woods in the dark because the young raccoon that was "sharing" my kittens food has started to leave messes, tear things up, and steal dishes from my front porch. The cats are young enough that they don't stray into the woods past the edge of the yard unless they are following us in daylight. Hopefully they stay out of the trap, but it won't hurt them if they get in it. It's in the shade, the weather is cool and they will have a snack while they wait.

I don't like killing animals that I don't eat, but it never stays 1 raccoon as they are social and opportunistic. It may be that it is a second raccoon that has started the mayhem as the juvenile before now has calmly ate from the bowl with the kittens. To say we have a sustainable population of raccoons is an understatement as they are quite abundant. I will try to process the fur for some use. Of course this is assuming the trap works. I have to do something as it is a matter of time before something more serious than a mess and a missing bowl happens.

Good luck with your raccoon problem, Quercus. As for the gain, just take a calm breath. It could be water weight, you know. And I agree, counting calories sucks. Maybe you should watch your sodium instead? In case it is just water weight.

Keep your head up! This is just a test of your determination! Keep going and you will get there! I agree that counting calories sucks! I still watch my calories, but I haven't been writing them down and adding them up. I need to get back on that. :(
Belinda is right, it could just be water weight! Good luck to you!

I hate counting calories, and I don't really count them. I am more aware of them and check on boxes before buying things, but that's about it. I just try to eat smaller portion and eat healthy, though maybe I do need to start counting calories since I'm really not making progress :(

Just don't give up, you will get there and start losing weight soon :) And like Belinda said, could be water weight!

Thanks Q for putting that song into my head. I'll be singing Rocky Raccoon all day now! It does suck when your weight goes up, when you are expecting it to go down. I should know! :( Grrr. We'll just keep on, keeping on Q. We'll get there, because we're determined!!! I played 9 holes of golf yesterday on my own & huffed & puffed, but did it :) Cheers, xo Cate

I hope it's just water weight as the others have already suggested. It just doesn't seem realistic to have gained so much weight so fast. Cutting salt out of my diet is my new plan of attack. I LOVE salt, but I know it's not good for me so I'm trying to not add any additional salt to my diet.

As for your raccoon issue, if I could come take it off your hands I would! We have a family of raccoons (mom and 3 babies, plus a larger one who comes alone from time to time which I think may be dad - he's the 2nd pic below) that comes to our yard on a fairly regular basis. My father puts peanuts out for flying squirrels at night and eventually the coons caught on. I was nervous about feeding them, still am, but my dad keeps filling the feeder at night. I go out every now and then to photograph them. They're really such cute little buggers. I know they can be destructive, but thankfully ours aren't... yet. They wipe out the peanuts and then they leave. Here are some pics of ours. I have a DSLR camera with a good zoom lens, I'm not as close to them as the pics make it appear. :)

Thank you everyone for all of the encouragement.

The weight is still up this morning. I didn't go walking yesterday as I stayed out late playing chess with a couple of friends. I had a healthy breakfast and packed a light lunch. I'll drink a lot of water and hope for the best. 770 calories for breakfast + lunch and I have soybeans for snacking.

The trap isn't going to work. The raccoon came to the porch, ate the food, stole the bowl, dumped their water and left while the front porch light was on and we where checking periodically. He's apparently pretty quick. He also left a "present" near the cage. That's a pretty clear message. The cats are still too young to do once a day feeding, but I guess I will have to feed them under armed guard in the evenings.

I like raccoons and they are a lot of fun to watch when they aren't causing trouble. I watched adult raccoons teach a young raccoon to catch fish once on a kayaking trip. I like to watch them catch and clean food before they eat it. I just can't have them taking things, tearing things up, and eating my cats' food. I'll try putting food out briefly and hopefully the cats will catch on and eat a little more quickly. Very nice photos Mandy!

I think everyone here hates counting calories, which is why we're here. If we could at least ballpark them earlier on, our belts would all be a little shorter!

When I was younger, my father paid me a $50 bounty on a raccoon that was breaking into our house and raiding the pantry - no lie, it would peel back the screens and come into the house. I earned the $50 and then some when I found it was a mother. I made the executive decision to dispatch the kits - not that I wanted to, but I didn't really have any reasonable options, and they're far from an endangered species.

That raccoon's skull turned up 15 years later.

On that happy note, enjoy your Friday!

One of the things I've tried to do is to ballpark my meal plans in a calorie range that you have plenty of eating out options for various meals. I've found that's about 450 for lunch and breakfast and roughly twice that for dinners. It's a lot easier to overdo it on dinners, so you just don't do that (lay off the sides, whether they be fries or salads loaded with cheeses and dressing).

It's the beers I have trouble fitting in, so I'm trying to cut back as much as possible.
