From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

I feel kind of crummy. The run was bad, but not awful. I started with "just a mile" and then "just 15 minutes" and so on bargaining with myself until I hit 2.2 miles. I sweat a ridiculous amount for how hard I ran.

Hope you're not in for a chest infection. Whenever I get a cold I also end up with one. It sucks! You're going great Q. Even feeling sick you run. That's dedication & determination!

If a cold is just coming on (light) exercise can be helpful, but if you actually do get sick please give yourself a rest. Impressed with your dedication anyway!

Cate and LaMa I am happy to report that I am feeling better today.

281.6 lbs halfway between yesterday and pre-turkey low.

Run Streak Day 4 of 36

A brisk run, but not all out. I can keep an average bpm of 172 so this was harder than my half hour and slower than my race pace. I think the run streak will be good in that I will have days where I am pressed for time or just not feeling it and the quickest way to get through it is to run a mile fast. Speed isn't something I've focused on so it will mix up my runs a bit.

Great job on the running! Very impressed with your dedication. I'm sure those turkey day pounds will be gone before you know it. :)

Thanks Jen! I'm enjoying it.

371.5 miles run this year as of today so I will pass 400 miles for the year. I think that's a respectable first year mileage especially since I lost about 2 months to injury and infection.

So using my low weight of 278.6 that would come out to 6.8 miles per pound lost (371.5/54.8). That number doesn't account for diet, but I'm wondering if it will go down with more time spent counting calories or stay roughly the same or increase as that effect is offset by my increased running efficiency.

I'm seeing the run streak as training for daily running. My hope that by moderating my runs that I can have active recovery and not be hampered too much with aches and pains so that I can just keep daily runs as part of my life. A day off when I need or want it, but just a daily habit of running. I know it's doable as lots of people do it. I just don't know if it's doable for me yet, but I intend to find out.

"so that I can just keep daily runs as part of my life." Who would have thought it, Q. Certainly not you. Well done! You will be inspiring so many & should be very proud of how far you have come. Cheers, Cate

What are you wearing for sneakers when you run? I'm wearing NB Minimus right now, but I'm not loving the lack of padding/support when I lift or row. Just looking for options.

I think focusing on speed for shorter runs will be a fun challenge for you. Some days you'll just need an easy mile, sure, but not always! It should keep things interesting, make you more excited to get out there every day if you've got different goals for each run.

Hi Quercus!

I'm so in awe of you! The fact that you were able to get back on track after kneebola lose the weight you gained during that time and then some is awesome! It give me hope too, because I have not eaten very well for the past several days and each day makes me panic.

Thank you very much Cate! That's very sweet of you to say.

Thank you Xenon! I'm pretty happy with my year 1 miles.

LJ mine are Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 with Superfeet carbon inserts. They are maximum support shoes for slight pronation. Very comfortable.

Oaks I think the variety will help a lot. Thanks again for doing this!

Jade it's great to see you around! Thanks so much! Don't panic, but do stick around!

A long day in the field followed so I am beat.

2,300 calories today.

Hiiii lovely :) Glad the running is doing you so much good. Now to try and get my butt off the video games and out onto the streets!! You are very motivating xo

Thanks for the sneaks input, I'm looking to replace mine - I thought I'd try New Balance Minimus, and they're comfy, but my feet are really sore the next day. And since "the next day" encompasses 5-7 days a week....

Anyway, good on you for the running!

And thank you for calling me out to join you! I needed a little push. I can't believe you did a 22 day streak before just because.

Thanks BlueBean! It's nice to not need to ice the knees or wear braces.

Thanks Sunflower! Do it! Start slow and easy and you'll enjoy it.

LJ, I failed to mention that I wear a half size smaller in Brooks than my normal. That may not be the same with you. The 12.5s are very snug, but not too small. No sore feet at all.

Sure thing Oaks! The last streak was during a contest on here, but really it was because it was the first time in my life that I could do it.

So this morning I felt pretty sore. Walking was labored so I decided to go really slow and just do a mile.

AM Run Day 6 of 36
1 mile
15:44
124 BPM Avg

This loosened me up quite a bit. 280.0 this morning. 2,300 calories yesterday, but I ate a lot in the evening.

Ending up finding a deal on the New Balance site for a pair of cross-trainers - original price of $135 down to $88 - and they appear to be the grandchildren of my old favorites.

Someday maybe I'll be able to run, and I'll think of some running shoes if/when that time comes.

LJ I have always liked New Balance shoes. I switched to Brooks because a 12.5 in their shoes seems to be a perfect fit for my feet. The only trouble I had with New balance was that it slipped in the heel. I have really broad feet in the front and pretty narrow ankles. Wides fit the front and mediums fit the heel. Both models of Brooks have been better fit for my duck skis.

AM Run Day 7 of 36
2.2 miles
30:51
146 bpm avg hr

I was trying to hit 2.2 in 30, but I was dragging. I didn't get enough sleep last night.

278.2 for a new low this morning.

0.4 lb below the pre Thanksgiving weight and a nice round 55 pounds lost.

I went from 50 to 55 lost in 3.5 weeks which is 1.4 lbs/week during that time despite Thanksgiving's over indulgences.

1.1 lb/week for the year

26 pounds lost and 2.9 lb/week since October 1st. I lost 6.2 pounds in the month of November and with the xmas holiday this month I hope to do at least as well this month. At 3.4 lost I'm already more than halfway there. I'm really hoping to get close to the 260s before the holiday feast.

I ate 2,150 yesterday. I'm having bloodwork done tomorrow. I'm hoping for improvements across the board.

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/64133-Pick-Your-Poison-Challenge-For-December

I've joined ^ this challenge for the month of December and I've just decided to get stupid with it.

Challenge 1: Run at least 1 mile a day and do at least 2 other yoga or weight training (other?) workouts per week. No points for the week if I don't get all nine workouts in.

Challenge 2: Eat 2,300 calories or less. Xmas eve is exempt from this IF I run and do strength training or yoga (other?) that day no matter where I am on challenge 1. I may elect to eat at 2,300 instead.

Weight Loss Goal: 11.7 lbs 269.9 pounds on 12/31/2015
12/1/2014 Weight: 281.6

Feel free to join in!
