From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

More great road work. Hopefully all is well enough physically?

Thanks everybody! Vee I feel great. Well my allergies are killing me and the fieldwork beat ms butt today, but I'm just healthy sore and less run done than this lvel of field work usually leaves me

run
30 min 05 secs
avg hr 150
2.0 miles dirt and pavement

That was in top of 7 hours in the field and 3 hours driving.

Time for bed.

I'm glad you're less run down. That's what I love about exercise and fitness. You notice things like this. Things that used to seem harder than they do now. Great job!

I'm with Cory. I love getting that feeling that my endurance is improving. It takes time, but once you notice it, it's kind of a big pick me up! Sorry you're dealing with allergies. I get allergies in the spring time, but knock on wood they haven't been bad the past couple of years. Hopefully that's a continuing trend.

Thanks Cory and Mandy! I would normally be so tired by midweek on these trips that I would be asleep no later than 9 having done nothing but work and eat and feel beat up in the morning. I'm still tired, but I'm doing more and eating less while feeling better. 100 pounds from now and I'll be grinding these kids I work with into dust out there.

10 hour day, but about 6 driving and 4 actually on foot.

run
39 min 08 secs
avg hr 149
2.5 miles
That's a new distance record. All the driving and thorns along with a much younger and immature coworker left me feeling anxious at the end of the workday so I upped the run time and distance and left it all behind.

I'm ready to be home. I miss my wife and I'm tired of thorns, hotel, and being vegan without a kitchen in a town without a decent place to eat for a meat eater.

Congrats on the distance record! I don't know about you, but I find driving to be exhausting. Makes no sense.

Thanks Cory. Yes driving drains me. Everything about south Texas drains me for that matter.

Mandy Thanks! I will be heading home in the morning. It's raining and near freezing here and well below freezing and raining to the north. It may be a slow sloppy drive home.

I was too wiped out after the field today to run or do anything else. It was a grueling day with about 5 miles covered on foot and more than half of that in the brush and the rest in soft sand and rocks. We got rained on as the wind picked up and the temp dropped 30 degrees. We ran the heater and dried out on the drive back, but it left me completely spent.

My legs, hips, and back need a break too. I may have to do a stretching/yoga tomorrow evening. 5 days of running in a row with the last two after working outside all day and then today and I have to take a break. I'm hopeful for the Saturday weigh in.

Quercus, good job on the 2.5 miles! Sounds like horrific weather to get wet under. Yeah, sounds like your body is ready for a down day, but 5 days of running should show some results.

Thanks Greensurf and MrVee!

I just did the bare minimum today with a brief walk and stretching. Icy driving turned our 8 hour drive into 11 hours. I did almost all of the icy driving. No problems other than crawling along, getting stuck on a freeway for an hour in San Antonio, and having to find my way across the city via side roads and awful neighborhoods. I saw countless wrecks and we were very careful and lucky.

Thanks Cory!

I'm rather pissed off at my 326.4 weigh in this morning. I worked very hard this week and my pants fit better than they did last weekend, but I have a 2.4 pound gain. I'll keep moving along, but I'm not happy at the moment.

I have to drink 1.3 gallons of water a day to get the full points in the contest, so that should undo any water retention I might have.

Run
31 min 46 secs
avg hr 146
2.1 miles
I made 2 miles in 29:44 which is a new speed record for me.
The first time I made 2 miles with the hr monitor it took just under 50 minutes and was mostly walking. I still have to shave nearly 10 minutes off the time and add another 1.1 miles at the same rate to reach my 30 minute 5k, but I'm heading that way.

Don't worry, brother. It's gotta be muscle gain and fluid retention after all that exercise; I'm sure you will see the loss in a day or two, but hell, I'd be pissed too after all that work this week!

Thank you Cory, GreenSurf, and Sunflower!

I whined about the water requirements for the week, but the scale said 323.8 this morning so that's an improvement. Much better than yesterday's 326.4, but only .2 pounds in 8 days so I hope it keeps dropping rapidly.

Fatty's first 5K
45 mins 46 secs
avg HR 148
That's 3.1 miles
This is the first 5K that i have run and I beat the theoretical 5K times that I've calculated from previous shorter runs.

My 1K splits
9:06
9:44
9:14
9:22
8:59

Interesting that my last K was the fastest and the second was the slowest. I had drank a lot of water and felt pretty sloshy and bubbly during the second K. I don't feel wore out which amazes me.
