Frankies Diary

Hi Frankie

I am pleased that you did well at the chemistry.

Good luck for today.

Enjoy the celebrations. You deserve it.

There will be plenty opportunities for weight loss projects and exercise later.

Thanks for stopping by Margaret.

It's 7.20am here and took the boys to the park this morning so did not do my big walk for the first time in weeks. It's my final exam today and my hardest so am going to write this and then get stuck in. We had the biggest thunder and lightening storms yesterday - amazing, and you can tell - so much stuff is washed up everywhere.

The in-laws are here, everyone but me still in bed. So off to make a cup of tea and cram for my final. Come 1pm today it will all be over for this year and then we are going out for lunch and yes, I intend to eat/drink and be merry.

Tomorrow I will get back into my routine.

Chemistry yesterday was surprisingly good so I know I passed that one with flying colours.

See you all tomorrow. Oh, and The Biggest Loser was on last night - will watch tomorrow. Thank goodness for Foxtel IQ.

Frankie

Hey Frankie!

I am happy you will have a good holiday break ..relax ..drink and be merry ...

Hi Margaret and Natalie Jo,

Exams are over for the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is quite funny. Husband dropped me at the exam yesterday and it's a 2 hour exam. I told him to wait that I woudn't be long. 15 minutes later I finish the exam and I call him and he goes what???? He thought I was kidding and had driven home, and so I had to wiat for him to turn around and come back.

With his family, we then went to this really nice restaurant on the beach for lunch, and I ate and drank gorgeous food and wine. Last night I relaxed on the couch and watched a dvd, bliss.

This morning my boys got me up at the crack of dawn and I am back on the routine and back into my program, diet included. The weather here is cold and wet, and yukky actually. I am looking forward to this week, I am going to the gym twice, and I know I can get my walks in, so am looking forward to really focusing.

Thanks for your thoughts and support, and NJ, good luck with macroeconomics. I remember doing that years ago and found it hard, so am wishing you the best on that.

You are so lucky to have wonderful dogs ...and get to walk them everyday ..they must give great companionship ..

I know my cat and guinea pig are great company ..she sleeps in my room and Dookie runs around like a wild guinea pig ..he is a baby ..only a couple months old ..so thin ...but his coat of fur is getting very thick ..he grows a little more everyday ... I will take him out during the summer! Your so lucky!

I am pretty lucky too ...lol I guess we are all lucky ... especially I am lucky for having all of your for weight loss friends....

Its great you finished with in fifteen minutes, you must have done really good on the exam ..congratulations and enjoy your time off ..
I am also an adult student and understand completely .. I don't have to work ..but I will have to volunteer at the library to get a job there as an entry level librarian .. I need to show them I can do it ...that I can be relied on ... in the past I haven't done such a great job with showing up to "volunteer or work" with them, but I plan to start volunteering in January and do some good ,hard work ...

you inspire me ..all your studying and really getting into it .. I have a lot of work to do for macro ... and my lit class I need to write a paper for a book I need to read for wed ... I shall do well .. I know it ..just will take some time ...

Thanks for the vote of confidence and enjoy your time off ...

Hi Frankie

How great to be finished studying for the year!! I went back to uni a couple of times as an adult. The last time while I had little kids was nightmarish at times. I had a real case of wondering whether I could still do it, too - very real despite the cliched sound. Is your course finished now? What comes next along that path?

How great that you gave yourself a full on celebration yet are straight back into the healthy food and movement!!

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for dropping by. NJ, you sound like me - you love animals. We also have 2 cats, blue burmese that turn 10 this week - 'the girls'. Our house is like a mini-ark. We have dog beds and cat beds, but most nights, the boys sleep on the bed with us and the girls sleep curled up in one of the cat beds. I am lucky to have the boys to get me up in the morning, come rain, hail, sun, whatever. They got me up at 5.40am this morning (monday) for their walk, and are now soundly sleeping on their dog cushions by me as I type. They are all such characters and I get such immense love and joy from them. I wish I knew how to attach a photo as I would if I knew how. They are just mutts but I adore them.

Felici, I have YEARS to gop in my naturopathy course - I didn't realise it would take me six years, I have about another 4 1/2 years to go. It is a difficult course, and rightly so, as you are advising people on helath and wellbeing. I have learned so much already and it is great to be able to apply it to your own life.

Being on holiday is weird, so am writing a list of things to do each day - like today I have to do all the bed linen (again) from the inlaws staying, and clean out the study (a bomb site from studying all year). This week I also need to buy all the table setting stuff for christmas, do the christmas shopping, write a list of all the food prep I need to do for christmas and start getting that organised, and other stuff I need to think about.

I have already done one walk today. This afternoon I walk to the gym for my PT session. Today will be about assessment, and the good thing is they can weigh me on reliable scales. So then we will all know what I weigh really.

Off to have my protein shake brekky and a cup of tea.

Best wishes to you all,

Frankie

Hi Frankie

It will be great to have the house back to yourselves.

I agree with felici, it is wonderful that you have got straight back on track. It is easy if you celebrate something to think - oh I will have an extra day off too. I am confident that you will be losing weight well. It will be good to know what you weigh.

Take care

I have two cats too =D Happy to see someone with so much animal love! :p
Do you have acupuncture in your course?
Keep up the good work ;)

Oh Frankie that is a long course!

Obviously you have chosen that path because it's your passion and the links from there to here are very clear!!

I lo-o-o-ve to shop for Christmas table settings! Some of your to do list sounds like proper work but that one should be fun!!

I'm loving your attitude towards your exercise. I love reading about it because it's helping me get moving!!

Have a great day!! :D

Hi everyone,

Ianthe, they do offer acupuncture as part of the course as an elective, but I don't think I will be doing it. There are so many options and so much you can do. And yes, this is a very BIG animal loving household here.

Felici, thanks for your lovely comments.

Yesterday was a great day. Food to plan and also had an assessment at the gym. I weigh 76.9 kilos on their scale so I'll take it. I don't know what I was when I started here, but now officially my goal for the valentines day challenge is 72 kilos. So there you go. I will be adding the gym in to my exercise each week - 3 HIIT half hour cardio sessions, and 2 half hour weight sessions. My first HIIT is this morning at 9.30am. They are closed for 2 weeks from the 22nd but I may be able to see my trainer in that time. I was running late for the gym yesterday afternoon so had to jog most of the way. Well, waddle really. But I did it. We added in some tangible goals aside from getting down to 72 kilos, like a bench press challenge and to jog on the treadmill for 40 minutes on 8.5 - so those are my goals for the next 9 weeks.

I slept really crappy last night, but was still walking at 5.30am and the rain and storms are back. So much for me relaxing on the balcony in the sun reading a book when on holiday.

Felici, am buying the table settings today - a silver and red theme I think, but we'll see what I find. I also want to make gravlax for christmas, so need to order a salmon for the 23rd, so will see what the local fishman will do for me today as well, otherwise hubby will have to go to the fishmarket. Tomorrow morning hubby will give me a lift into the city to do the christmas shopping - we don't have many to buy for, just the inlaws who will be here and some things for Stewart. He is soooo hard to buy for as he has everything, but I will see what I can find. Previously I have bought him things like a wine connoisseur course, gliding lessons, cooking lessons, race car driving, golf lessons, and now it's getting hard.

I am getting my hair done this afternoon and boy, do I need it. I have not been to the hairdressers in about 3 months or so, so I can't wait. I will walk there (and get soaked) but hubby will pick me up.

So that's all for today, hope everyone is well, and will tell you how this HIIT session goes tomorrow.

Well Frankie,
That makes two of us, I too am getting a hair cut ..my long hair has become unimaginably a pain in my rear. Its always like this when it gets really long ..but it looks on the VERY sad side ...
so on January eigth I am getting a hair ...
My dresser said to me in a very funny tone "I am going to make you look like a sexy posh spice!" lmao
the woman is beautiful ... I definitely not thin enough ..but the hair cut is very similar ..and the hair dresser is a professional at hair coloring ..she titled ...so she is more than a regular the salon ..the woman really knows how to do hair .. I might get brick highlights ..lol not that I don't already have them ..but I was thinking ..why not really treat myself .. I hope to be five to six pounds less ..it will be my reward lmao

its better than food reward ..my reward for walking today ..is my starbucks tea ..Tazo black tea ..my favorite ..but I think I may go for English Breakfast Black Tea ...sounds good to me ..with one packet or two packets of pink sweet n low .. sounds good to me ...but I too desperately need a hair cut ...

Those moves at the gym sound great - nice that you finally have a weight - I can't call it a starting weight cos I reckon you've probably been losing at least a kilo a week since you started here!!

Your husband does sound hard to buy for!!

"Electronic gadgets?" she says vaguely. A thing for his wrist with global positioning and stuff? An update, or add ons for his ipod? A wii? A computer game? Track down some favourite old hard-to-find music? Jewellery? A weekend at a retreat? Abseiling down the 3 Sisters? ... My husband wants little, but fortunately is also happy with quite boring gifts. He did mention a couple of musicians last night though, I should check ...

Have a lovely time at the hairdressers!!

Hi Frankie

Now that you have a weight you can set up a ticker like we all have.

I hope that the trainer that said that walking would not help notices how much weight you have lost since he said that.

Good luck for the shopping expedition and I am sure you will like the new hair do.

It probably sounds very dull but my hubby and I stopped buying each other gifts for christmas and birthdays years ago. Instead we have anytime gifts to make up for it at another time of the year when we see something that we really would like. It saves the pressure of having to find something just because the event is just round the corner. If you ever go down this route it is important to remember and not just miss out.

Take care

Hi Natalie Jo. Felici and Margaret,

So lovely to hear from my friends on this journey - it just makes my day!

Natalie Jo, I am very lucky that my girlfriend happens to be one of the best hairdressers in Sydney (she had Russell Crowes wife and mum in there yesterday) so she made me feel beautiful yesterday. She is my old walking buddy, and usually she sees me at 6am in an old tshirt and sweat pants, so last night even though I was just in jeans it was great. She always makes me, and everyone else, feel like a rockstar. It was my reward for finishing exams and also foor continuing on my journey, so I can't wait to hear about yours!!! I think it's always exciting to have your hair done. Mine was quite long too but now it is around shoulder length.

Felici, thanks for the suggestions for hubby, I was going to go shopping today, but am now going tomorrow as hubby couldn't give me a lift in this morning as he is going V8 motor car racing this morning. Me thinks he will have a very good morning. Can't wait to do it all, as because I am away in NZ until the 19th I want to have everything organised before I go away.

Margaret, we usually don't do pressies, but because his family is coming here for christmas (first time) and we are hosting lunch for family and friends (first time) we are making an effort. Usually we don't because it's my birthday on the 28th and that's the important day, well, I think it is!

So another great day yesterday and we did weights at the gym. Oh - My - Goodness!! I am sore, and I have another weights and cardio session this afternoon. Oh well, I am on a mission.

Tonight we are having dinner with friends who are here from London, one of whom I have not seen in five years, and yes, I have gained alot of weight since she last saw me. Oh well, will walk in with a great attitude and have a great night. Margaret, I know, like me, that you are a salmon fan. This place does tandoori salmon, and it may not sound that good, but it is absolutely scrumptious, and healthy. So I already know my healthy choice for the night.

Best wishes everyone,

Frankie

xx

Onya for that workout - you are so pwning this!!

Guess what - we have the same birthday as each other!! *High fives*

It's good to know you have been feeling like a rockstar and can take your feeling of beauty and great attitude with you to dinner!

Have a lovely time with your friend tonight!! :D

I'm not a huge fan of fish OR Indian food, but tandoori salmon just sounds so luxurious and yummy, if I saw it on a menu I'd just HAVE to try it!!

Just the fact that your girlfriend has met *relatives* of Russell Crowe makes me jealous, lol...

It's not as fun meeting an old acquaintance after you've gained weight, but just think about how awesome it's going to be walking in somewhere after you've lost it!

In my humble opinion, it's one of the best feelings in the world--that all-over flush of pride that accompanies the skinny double-take. :D

Great job at the gym! Keep up the good work! :hurray:

Hi Frankie

I am sure that the dinner will have gone well. In my experience seeing friends after you have put on weight is not nearly so awkward as you anticipate. True friends hardly look at you. They see the person within.

You have been eating healthily and exercising well - so although you may well be a little larger than they remember - you will probably have quite a healthy glow.

The salmon sounds an excellent choice. :Angel_anim: I lose weight so regularly on days that I eat salmon - it is hard not to decide to eat it nearly every day until I am the weight that I want to be. I have had salmon twice in the past week - and both have given me a weight loss the next day.

It is really fortunate that one of your friends is such a good hairdresser. I bet that you felt brilliant when you saw the result of her work. It would be the perfect confidence boost before going out with the old friends.

Take care:seeya:

Hi Felici, Maverick, and Margaret,

We share the same birthday Felici - cool. My birthday wish is fine weather!! That's all.

Maverick, thank you so much for the kind words, and for stopping by, I really do appreciate it. The salmon was awesome.

And Margaret, it was a lovely evening, we sat outside in a great table overlooking the Sydney harbour bridge and opera house, it was just magic. The only thing is we ate soooooo late, they took forever to get us food, and we were still eating at 11.30pm!! I was just about asleep at the table. We got home around 12.30pm and I then had to walk the dogs. I was out like a light but the boys still got me up at 5.30am. I took them out for a quick toilet, will write this and then we walk to the vet - it's grooming day.

I honestly did so much - too much - exercise yesterday. Over four hours, over three of walking and a hard hour session at the gym. I almost cried with my trainer he was so hard on me, and I knew I had a 45 minute walk home and then had to walk the boys, so yeah, I certainly earned my supper. Had my weigh in 75.6 kilos, very happy, 1.3 kg down.

Today I am having a very quiet day and when I drop the boys at the gym, I am going to have a real treat, a skinny latte at a cafe reading the morning paper all by myself. Bliss.

I re-enrolled for next term so will be at school 3 days a week. Cool. Still have alot of christmas shopping to do, hopefully will manage to do some tomorrow.

Only 2 more sleeps till I see my dad yayyyyy!!!!!

Take care everyone, and thank you all for your support,

Frankie

Wow! That is a big loss Frankie - over a short time I think. Congratulations. It does sound well earned!

I kinda wish your trainer wouldn't almost make you cry. :( Good on you for not folding though and the absolutely massive efforts you are making with your exercise!

Nearly time to see your dad - one more sleep! :) Have a wonderful, wonderful time! :)

Hi Frankie

Congratulations on the weight loss. :hurray: That is brilliant news. I bet you wish that you confidently knew your start weight since your fitness regime is giving you that excellent rate of loss.

I am not surprised that you are tired when you go to the gym and keep up the walking. I know that I get tired when I do my classes in addition to my walking. My Monday class (keep fit - i.e. aerobics, resistance and pilates) is really tiring in addition to the walking. Still it is all worth it when you get a good result at the scales.

I am pleased that you had a thoroughly enjoyable night out.

Eating late is always a bit of a killer. That has been quite difficult for us. When we were in Greece we did that all the time. It was a really bad habit to get into - but we used to have our main meal quite late at night - after 10pm anyway before we would ever start eating. So back in England we kept on doing it too. It was only earlier this summer that we moved things back to a more normal time after I was plateauing and read of people thinking that we should complete our meals earlier. Now I try to get my meal by 8pm. Often I succeed - but like everything sometimes I fail.

I am sure that your father will be impressed when he sees how much weight you have lost and how healthy you look with all your exercise and sensible eating. Have a wonderful time with him.

Take care:seeya:
