ForRealThisTime Diary of a mad man

Hey Justina, thanks for the support. My life has been crazy hectic recently but now seems to be settled down a bit so looking forward to upping my fitness level a notch.

I really try to not overeat these days and have leveled out just above 200lbs which is down roughly 20 on last year. I started running again yesterday and feel fantastic today so really looking forward to going again tonight.

On the cleanse... yeah I have seen a lot of people rubbishing the idea of internal cleansing however I have only had positive experiences and so they can say what they like I will go with what I KNOW. Having toxic material in your colon is not conducive to good health. I strive for a digestive transit time of less than 24 hours. This means that anything I eat should be digested and the waste products eliminated within 24 hours. If this is not happening then I have rotting material inside my body.

I am not saying anyone needs to be on a constant cleanse but a couple of times per year or when you feel like your digestive tract is not moving at its optimum works well.

Hey Hey Hey, Mr.! So are we both back on this!? Hmmm.... ? Love it! I actually love cleanses. Happy to see you back here!!!

Hi Alta, yeah back for some more :) Good to see your name again, its been a long time!

So... when I get in to this frame of mind my appetite completely vanishes. I know people will say "you need to eat and cant starve" and I do agree but if I dont feel like I want to eat then I dont force myself.

This morning I had a banana and in the late afternoon I had a turkey sub with no sauce etc on it. I am going to go do 5 miles tonight. I did 5 yesterday also.

Last year this was the method that I found worked for me. It included

-no drinking (or nearly none)
-significantly reduced calorie intake
-5 miles every night
-hiking at weekends

Last year I dropped 29lbs relatively quickly and built more muscle. I have put on a little weight since then but the muscle is still there so I look better than before and feel better plus am still down 13lbs on what I started at.

So I know the drill... I know what works... I love a challenge... I am determined and always succeed - Here we go :)

Yeaa yeaa!! :jump:!!! You got this boy!!! You do know what works, and that's amazing!!! I'm excited to be on this journey with you! You are inspiring me to walk my dog at night for 5 miles too!! :) or maybe 1...haha

Where in the world are you getting your medical information? What you know is what you think you know and not always facts. First, human digestion takes 24-78 hours. To try and force your body to do it faster can be harmful. Also, what toxic materials are you talking about since no one ever says when here what they are...toxic materials is a cleansing buzz word. The medical community has done tests to show that cleansing doesn't do anything. The feel good sensation you have is in your head..not your body.

Sorry if I sound like a downer but false info has to be countered. I'd hate for someone new to come here and think this is healthy.

Jericho, all I see you doing is quoting stuff you have read online, along with smarmy negative bullshit responses to people who are looking for help. Perhaps you can share some information with me on your personal health? How do you manage to maintain a healthy weight and generally stay healthy?

Now.. I am speaking about my health which is very good. I follow a regime which works for me. You may choose to google "digestive transit time" and spew what you have read in to a post on here but that is not real world experience that is you doing the only thing you seem to know how to do - read online and repeat.

MY ideal digestive transit time is 24 hours or less. Where did I say I was "forcing my body to do it quicker"? ANSWER - I didnt. I cleanse my colon twice per year. Without going in to too much detail, it yields very good results. You dont believe in "cleanses" - I dont care what you believe, I shall trust my experience over what you have read online.

Post colon cleansing my digestion functions better. Again this is my EXPERIENCE. I dont care if you read somewhere that it is bullshit.

"Toxic materials is a buzz word" - Oh really... so there is no such thing as toxic materials? Do you realise how ignorant you sound. There are toxins all around us. Now in plain english - your intestine and colon absorb water and nutrients etc - if there is rotting material in there (toxic materials) for an unacceptable period of time your intestines and colon absorb toxins from them.

You can keep your patronizing comment about the feel good factor being in my head not my body - dont presume to know how I feel. When I perform a cleanse my skin is in far better shape along with my hair and my general health. There are also some other positives such as very little bloating or passing gas - but I suppose you know better than I do and that is just in my head rather than being a reality.

Now go google some medical studies and post some links... I will live by my real life experience and you can live through other peoples studies.

And you dont sound like a downer, you sound like someone regurgitating stuff they read online rather than speaking from personal experience.

Only medical condition I have at the moment is overweight. All else is quite good. Blood work and all.

Down on the personal attacks..follow the forum rules. As far as the information, seeing that it comes from medical studies and research, I fail to see what your counter to the statement is. You are aiming for a digestion that is faster than normal.

Your ideal is based on what? It's not science. It is just personal perception which many say is the reason why so many claim results that aren't really results. It is a placebo effect. You WANT it to work, so your mind..baring anything going wrong..makes the connection that it works.

Post colon cleansing my digestion functions better. Again this is my EXPERIENCE. I dont care if you read somewhere that it is bullshit.

Course you think it functions better..you been taking a laxative for a week.

There is no science or medical evidence that there is any toxic or rotting material in the colon. Just the opposite.

Well as I said before..no medical evidence. If it is working for you..fine but seriously, we have new members trying to find justification for using cleansing for weight loss or 'detox' and I rather not give them false ammo.

We are free to disagree and debate but again, watch the forum rules about attacking the poster with personal insults.

where are the personal insults? I think it is pretty pathetic to try bear down on me with "the forum rules" because you didnt get a submissive reaction. I know nothing about you and merely asked what your physical condition is given that you seem to study a lot of medical research regarding health. Just like bringing my car to a mechanic, I wouldnt be very quick to take on board his information if he couldnt get his own car running (not the best analogy but its late). Good to hear you are in good health. Your good diet may not require you to do anything to assist your digestive system but I am no angel and mine needs assistance at certain intervals.

Now I could go about playing the quoting game but frankly it bores me, I dont play the part of Internet warrior very well.

I will merely state again - my EXPERIENCE is my EXPERIENCE. For anyone who is considering cleansing their intestine and colon I would highly recommend it, based on my experience. I do not use commercial "cleanse" products which have ridiculous claims and I do not do it to speed up my digestive system, as incorrectly stated above.

The purpose for my twice annual digestive system clear-out is to remove any waste that has lined the walls of my insides. I know when it is time to do this because my digestive system is not functioning as it should. I may have excess gas or may not be regular every day and begin to feel bloated and rundown or tired. Usually this is accompanied with some spots on my skin. After my clear-out the bloating is gone, skin is much better and I have far more energy not to mention the weird stuff that comes out.....

The claims regarding speeding up my digestive system are rubbish, I merely bring it back to a good working speed and regain regularity. For a month following this clear-out I take natural yogurt everyday to build back up healthy bacteria. It is amazing how good it feels to eat and have a clear run through your body so that waste is eliminated in a timely manner.

This is far from a placebo effect.

EDIT: I just saw that you gave me negative rep for sharing my experience. You are a very petty individual. Attempting to bully people who have a different viewpoint to your own. First threatening me with the forum rules when I never made any personal insult and then giving negative rep for sharing my experience, you are a very sad individual.

::shrugs:: I just know medical science which counters what you say. That is where I posted links to actual information.

As far as the attacks..Take another look at what you wrote...Can you honestly say that what you wrote had no personal attacks? There is a civil tone we can and strive to keep here. We can disagree and debate but keep the hostility out of it.

Again, you go with stuff you read online and I will go with my own personal experience.

What I wrote had no personal attacks, if you perceived it as such I am sure you now feel better after pressing the negative rep button.

EDIT - and now a warning is issued... thanks Jericho you are not pathetic you are a cool guy. I will give you some positive rep now to show how much I really really mean that. I am very sorry for challenging anything that you say, I wasnt aware that having a different opinion to yours was not permitted on the forum, please except my unreserved apology ;)

So another 5 miles done tonight, that makes a total of 15 in the past three days. My tshirt really told the tale tonight, it was soaked! When I was done I had to wring it out *ewww*

I love the feeling of progress and cant wait until next week when I jump on the scales and see the fruits of this weeks toil.

It has been in the 90's every night and its not easy running in that heat but I love the sweat you get going in it.

My feet are blistering up but that is to be expected given that I have taken a break for a while so my hard skin has gone but soon I will have my feet of iron back :) I want to start hiking again in the next couple of weeks so will need my feet toughened up by then.

I am taking a banana for breakfast and then a meal around 4pm which is usually a footlong turkey sub or something similar. Given the calorie deficit and the increase in exercise I hope the results will come quickly.

Hard work hard work hard work hard work - nothing else will do it.

wow. :(....

Great on you for your 5 miles tonight. Hard work does the trick! ;)

lol - hey Alta you know me I just keep smiling and loving life. When you coming over to visit me ;)

yes it is the key to success - getting out there and sweating like mad, its not the easy way but it is the effective way :)

Effective is the key!!!

Where are you at these days, back in Ireland? You were traveling in Georgia that last time we spoke.. :) Remember, you were sad about a girlfriend...? :) Got a new one yet?

Still in GA - sweltering in the heat! but loving it.

We managed to sort everything out and all is well again :)

How about you? Last thing I remember you were taking over the world and making cool videos!

Awww.. same here! All is well in my neck of the woods, & we sorted everything out over here too. That's cool that you stayed in Ga! One of my good online friends (which I've met from this forum-in real life also) lives over there!

I'm so happy that things are good with your partner, by the way. You deserve happiness. :) It is pretty hot... I'm still making videos. I don't know about cool, but they are there. You can always see me! :D! Literally. LOL! I make them a couple times a week. I post links on my page..

Awwwww I am delighted for you :) I know how sad that whole situation made you but I knew if it was meant to be it would work out in the end - things do.

Why don't you have private messaging?

...were you punished for being a bad boy on here?! LOL!!! :reddevil:
Whoops it was off - back on now! Dont mention anything about being punished - apparently its not permitted *shusshhh*
Oh and be careful what you put in private message as they are easily read by others - dont go confessing your undying love for me or anything :)

:smilielol5:!!! Well, damn. If private messaging can't get my undying love for you out, then were? :D!! Hhahaha!!!

You are one wild man.

...and yes, when things are meant to work out they do. So far, so good. :)
