I have always been trim, and active. however, there are just some periods in our lives probably when you just suddenly wake up to a pair of tighter jeans, and a shirt that used to be loose.

in times like those, i tell myself, maybe the cloth shrank.

then i go on with my life. food. drinks. dessert.

i can no longer wear those jeans.

people comment on how i look.

i notice it finally. i am big. i am fat. i wouldn't accept it at first. but today, upon reading what you guys in this forum has to say, i am admitting it.

and i acknowledge. today.

that i need to lose weight.

Sounds like you are motivated, finding motivation is always the first step!

Regarding your poll, there isn't a single fod that "makes" you fat. Eating too many calories makes you fat. Eating supersize fries from mcdonalds 3x per day will likely put you over your calorie limit and cause you to gain weight - while eating 1 single french fry once a week will have no effect whatsoever. You could very well gain or lose weight while eating that salad as described, depending on its total calories, and the total other calories you eat in a day.

Good luck! I understand the "shirt that used to be loose" thing completely. I am totally dealing with that now. My favorite, fit-me-perfect dress pants? They've been in retirement for a while.

Well said, MAR1984!

I voted no. I love salad with tuna, and eat it a lot (and diced chicken). I make my own salad dressing out of mostly olive oil and vinegar, with just a tiny splash of ranch dressing, and lots of different seasonings, like onion and garlic powder, lemon pepper, Italian seasoning, and whatever else suits your fancy (as long as it doesn't contain sugar or too much salt). It's pretty low in calories and you don't need very much, just enough for flavor. Depending on the seasonings you use, a little can go a long way. I put it all in a bowl, seal it, and then shake it vigorously. It coats everything nicely, tastes great, and makes a great meal.

It's one thing to know that you are overweight, but it's great to be able to say, "I'm tired of it and want to do something about it!" I'm with you there, because I just made the same decision myself.

I eat pizza and i still lose weight. I eat M&Ms and I still lose weight. I had a chocolate chip banana nut muffin and I still lose weight.

It's all about moderation. It's not a whole bag of M&Ms, just a small amount. It's not a whole pizza with everything, it's a slice with basil, sauce and cheese. It's not a whole muffin but half the muffin.

What kind of question is this? This is like asking if having sex will make you pregnant.
The answer depends on the context.
