Food

I'm a bit curious about what happens when you continue eating random junk, but still work out. I'm extremely picky with the types of food I eat, and everyone is telling me that I need to get accustomed to new things in order to loose weight, which I understand, but for me, I just want to gain some muscle and maybe drop a few shirt sizes.

its all about cals inn vs cals out. You can loose weight eating crap from McDonalds every day, it just depends how much of it you eat.
Thats just the hard truth. But with eating crap, its gonna be really hard to loose weight, becasue crap food has so many cals inn them that in order to exercise to burn it all, you will have to exercise so much you might overtrain.
Not to mention that eating junk is very unhealthy for you.

Here's what would happen... most likely:

1) You will lose some weight
2) You will start seeing some changes in your body shape
3) You will think I'm eating the same stuff as before, I don't need to exercise any more
4) You regain all the weight because the exercise somehow burned off the excess calories you eaten before

However, if you eat healthy and throw out the junk food, you can loose weight without even exercising. Exercise promotes a overall better body condition.. you can think of it as what's on the other side of the door... diet is the key to open this door. Of course, you can break and enter this door by simply doing exercise, but pretty soon the diet police is going to come looking for you and when it does, you're going to feel it 10x.

Don't feel bad if you continue eating junk food along with heathy food. Just slowly take it off and you'll see how easy it is to maintain a healthy diet.

I've always been active but not always so great about what I eat, and I've definitely noticed a difference in energy levels when I eat healthier. My workouts are better, and I start to look fitter. So even though I might be able to run as well, or lift as much, what I put into my body makes a difference as to my results - both in looking better and feeling better. I'd say avoid the junk as much as you can to see better results!

You can still build muscle while eating junk food it's just not ideal and you'd make far better progress eating decent food. It's not just a case of calories here, 'junk' food is often lacking in things like vitamins, you might end up losing weight but lacking in energy with poor skin

I know that's very basic but my nutrition knowledge is pretty basic :)
