Flyer's diary

And even once you're vaccinated you're not bullet proof. It helps, of course, but it still makes sense to be careful until the numbers drop to a more sensible level.

from what i understand about the few cases that were infections of a test candidate who had the real vaccine was that none of those cases was anywhere near severe. maybe not 100% certainty, but any good news is somewhat heartening.

That knife looks glorious! I seem to remember something about knives being bad-luck gifts but gifts to yourself probably don't count there :) Also: my mom calls the siblings of siblings-in-law cold in-laws. If anyone has an official English version I'll be interested to hear it.

lol... a little late on that advice.
wedding gift i sent my nephew about a month ago now... :)

i put your exact words into a Google search and there is a general superstition... even as far as...

"It’s especially bad luck to give a knife as a wedding gift ..."

yet, ... it's not like i gave them his & hers Bowie knives.
i'll have to bring this up with them sometime.

:rotflmao: I´m sure only the most superstitious wouldn´t risk a bit of bad luck for a good set of knives. Good tools are invaluable, especially ones you use every day.

feck·less/ˈfekləs/
adjective
  1. lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible.
the only positive i can take from the political rhetoric this year has been an increased vocabulary.

i have to say i'm getting lazy(er). i haven't been for a walk longer than across the street to get coffee in more than a month. this year of isolation is beginning to get to me. i've got to say the only bright spot is that the country will be rid of the disastrous Trump administration in a few weeks. it wasn't a great feeling knowing that more than 8 million more people voted for Joe Biden and yet the electoral college so tilted toward a minority part of the population (only 41% of the American population is currently represented by the Senate majority party) made it closer than it should have been. another hope is the two democrats will win in the upcoming Georgia runoff for their two Senate seats. without control of the Senate, the redumblican leadership will certainly try to stall any recovery with obstruction. after their lies fell through in filling a Supreme Court seat, they are likely the least trusted politicians in U.S. history.

It is hard to stay consistently motivated to be active when all days are pretty much the same. At least it is for me. Let´s hope things change for the better in 2021...

i used to trick myself into walking a good distance when i'd purposely miss picking up the Wednesday newspaper (the best puzzle of the week + the Food section..!) knowing a place they would save the old news for a while that was about a mile walk ... UNTIL ... i discovered the place the market right across the street keeps their old papers .... :(

hey U.S. congress... some of us are actually redirecting the stimulus checks we've gotten. so far i've donated $900 to food banks and i'm sure my overtipping on morning coffee to support local businesses has totaled at least the other $300. so sad that redumblicans seem to always think the worst of people while they spout their lies. so far everything they predicted with a Trump loss has gone exactly the opposite way. they said the stock market would crash if Biden won... since the election, the stock market has been soaring knowing that Trump got badly defeated. if Georgia tips the balance of congress toward a party who will actually get work done without constant obstruction, i might just give up not drinking alcohol for a day or two.

the bottom line, though... in 3 weeks we'll at least get rid of the worst president in U.S. history.
in that respect, it is definitely going to be a very HAPPY NEW YEAR.

aughhh... the first time i thought about trying on my favorite jacket since i've been 50 lbs lighter...
consensus opinion by the checkout girls seems to indicate it's too big ... now.

i don't think there has been a day this past week i haven't seen multiple moving vans around the neighborhood.

when i asked that guy "how's business been?", he just forced a slight smile and replied there is more than they can keep up with.

It does look big, but not stupidly so. If you like wearing it I say wear it. Are people moving because they can´t afford the neighborhood anymore or what´s going on?

a large part of the workforce in San Diego is in the hotel and tourist business sector which has taken a severe hit this year. i've got to think some of this is thinning out those workers who simply cannot find employment right now.

as long as i keep the jacket open i can get away with it, but my suit size went from a 44+ back to a 38. i have a suit i haven't worn in a few decades and the jacket fits just fine, but unfortunately that darn last little stomach pudge i still have is keeping the pants from fitting. frankly, though, even my poor eye for fashion is telling me that fabric and cut are too dated anyway.

i have a huge pile of clothes to donate as soon as the country starts to get COVID-19 under control. unnecessary social contact is not something i am about to engage in yet. the end of the insanity of Trump is in sight, only 3 weeks away. of course things are not going to turn around overnight, but it is comforting to realize the country finally has some hope along with a president who will care about something other than his overinflated ego.

Looks like a painting, very pretty.

lol... maybe a MS Paint(ing).
that's all i used to take out the power lines... :)
