Flumes Journal....

Back when I was younger my mom thought it we were eating healthier, she'd sautee a bunch of fresh garden veggies (zuchini, tomatos, etc.), stir in cheese and all over a huge pile of pasta....sooo good. But yea...its no wonder I was still packing on the pounds, lol. My huge weakness is breakfast....hashbrowns/homefries and sausage gravy especially. Thankfully I can make a fried egg sandwich or eat a bob evans breakfast bowl (hashbrowns and sausage gravy) and get around it pretty easy. It's amazing all the convenience food that isn't diet and also isn't that high in calories....and sure tastes alot better. Yea I know I should cook more but I work ten hour shifts so having box food like that at work stops me from hitting up fast food on the way home at 9am, lol.

On a side note, I know I'm a few days late and a dollar short but you had me laughing at the whole asparagus thing so like you said, I had to google. Found this about it

Use fresh asparagus if you find some. Big difference. Dont know if youll get the full effect with canned.

heheh I think, being British and naturally therefore more refined, I have the non-asparagus-pee-smelling gene!! Whereas Flumes, you are obviously in the other Darwinian camp!

Imagine if we lived in a world where all there was to eat was asparagus and large blind dinosaurs with sharp sense of smell roamed the land....you guys would be gonners!!!

Well...I'm back from my first run....run/walk...what ever you call it.

I am dying. I did a variation of running, walking and reaching for my heart every cycle for about 25 minutes. I am sooo out of shape.
My lungs/throat feel like it has just smoked a pack of cigarettes in an hour.
My legs feel like jello...I(which is ok sometimes...but right now its nowhere near that great.)

Now that I am not sweating anymore, and caught my breath, I feel somewhat better....but there were times where I just wanted to walk back to the vehicle and give up. So hopefully next time, I'll do better.

Food today <cough> <cough> was not <cough> that <cough> <cough> good.

Same-o same-o Oatmeal brekkie - 400
Snack - grapes (about 6 oz) but they were soo darn crunchy...yumm yumm
and a fat free turkey and lettuce wrap 130 + 270
Lunch - Chicken breast and 1/3 sweet potato 3 oz kolbassa - 500
Snack - fat free turkey and lettuce wrap 270 had to (finish it off)
D-salad and tuna and cottage cheese 300

I'm still hungry. I think its the worst day for hunger I had in a long time. I had my dinner after I ran and I am still hungry. But I won't eat junk. Gonna try the water trick...and see if that curbs it a bit.

So thats it in a nutshell. Golf tournament tomorrow....I think its going to be a tuff day :(

Today I weighed in at 202.6!!!!!!

Thats 1.2 lbs down from my last 203.8 weigh in on June 13th.

Today on the other hand was a not a good day as far as food goes but I knew it was coming. It was my first golf tournament. And it was hot...around 32C and sunny for most of the day.

B-Oatmeal like usual - 400
S-Hotdog on bun ? - 300
L-Beer Beer 340
S-Hotdog on bun, 1 more beer, 150 gms hard Italian salami 600
D-1 beer 2 pieces of roasted chicken, lotsa veggies, salad and 4 small meatballs and piece of cake 550
And dats it.

So way over on calories. But I didnt pig out or drink like a fish.
I could have went way overboard as most people were half cut and the food was delicious but i had some restraint. So I am happy.
I also golfed fairly well and earned the respect of my squad after a couple of nice balls. So happy there too.

Tomorrow is either gym or running....dont know which yet. And my diet will be a little cautious.

Well...I'm back from my first run....run/walk...what ever you call it.

Way to go Flumes!!!! I'd be interested to know how you feel a day or 2 after your run. I was surprised that I felt great the morning after, but today - OUCH! It's a whole other story! My legs are killing me!

Looking forward to watching your progress!!!
 
Hey Flumes, glad to hear that you didn't go overboard on the golf day - these thigns can be so tempting so sounds like you struck the right balance between enjoying yourself, having a treat but not going mad.

Your legs are going to feel the worse maybe 48 hours after a run...and then they start to feel better. One thing I've learnt is that a niggling muscle pain/ache at the start of the run usually wams up and goes away ( unless somethign is like seriously wrong...obviously don't run through an injury, I'm talking about like...stiffness and soreness) and even having a stitch/being a bit out of breath - I've foudn that adjusting my pace and breathing, I'm able to run through these and they wear off after a few mins - whereas previously I would have just stopped and said "oh I obviously can't do this. I need to rest".

Anyhows, have a good weekend and let me know how you get on with the second run!!! You can do it IN the gym as part of the your bigger workout you know!?!?! I did my first 2-3 months of running on the gym treadmill before I got the confidence to move outside.
 
Glad to hear you did well in the golf tournament. And congratulations on staying on your eating plan. I have heard the refreshments at golf outings are super tempting and delicious.
 
Flumes! Only 0.1 pounds until you smash half of your weight loss! You're doing amazing and are going to be under 200 in no time!

This weekend...well there was the cottage, and company and of course Father's Day.....so what can I say.
First, to all the fathers on this site and fathers of those on this site...Happy Father's Day! Hope you had a great day for bein a great Dad!

So...back to the weekend. Foodwise was not the greatest but could have been worse. I stayed away from all snacks except the sour gummy worms and sour keys. (Had two of each). No chips and dips and no dessert.

But the meals werent the best...here we go.
Sat
B-Oatmeal
L-Turkey patty and 1/2 cucumber and some cherries
S-100 grams hard salami and 1 piece italian crusty bread to go with it
D-burger and fries. (I went lite on the fries but really enjoyed my burger so I ate it all! nom Nom
S-Campfire hotdog.....who could resist!
Add about 4 beer and 1 glass wine and a double rum for the day. :)

Sunday -
Was up at 6:30 <eeek>
Made coffee and cooked my oatmeal.
I went for my 2nd day of Coach Jjjays running program at 7:40 and ran/walked the highway for 25 minutes. I was pretty sweaty when I got back but not nearly as wiped as the first day. Happy Happy!
Ate breakfast (oatmeal) and had 1 L of water
L-2 egg and cheese omelet 2 pieces bacon and 1 piece of toast. (kids cooked)
S-sunflower seeds in shell and 1 glass wine
D-steak rice mushrooms green beans almandine and 12 med shrimp
Just got home now so its my double rum time before bed :)

I didnt eat great but I used some moderation and got my run in.

We'll see if I can make 201 by Friday. I'll run tuesday and thursday and hit the gym mon and wed. And my toes are crossed so I'm sure that counts for sumtin! ;)

your killing me with the rum. i love rum and would drink it by the gallon if i could. that whole letter and all i absorbed was the rum comment. ok im going to go sulk now.
 
It was terrible rum. All I could drink was a couple of ounces. Almost had to spit it out....

Honestly, I apologize if it offended anyone. For some reason, having a drink or two or a couple of beer is more acceptable than eating a snickers bar. I don't know why...hopefully someone has an answer.

Lol, I think we see drinking as okay and eating crap on different levels because in our minds drinks cannot possibly be that awful, I mean thats why starbucks is so popular, it does not click in our minds that having a latte is like having a candy bar, even though both are equally as packed with sugar and both equally capable of causing weight gain.

Don't be sorry, you work hard! This is a lifestyle, everthing is fine in moderation. Lol, coming from the girl who will have a twinkie everyonce in awhile, i just know I either have to work out more or eat a little less to compensate, or pay the price and gain some weight that I have to relose.
