Flumes Journal....

We have cucumbers from hell in the garden. There is sooo many and they gotta be on steroids. Seems like we can't pick them quick enuff! But I love em!

I know the feeling! Between cucumbers, green beans, peas, turnips and now tomatoes we are drowning in veggies here. Lately I notice I've been eating a lot more veggies than fruits, but once the season is over, I'm sure I'll be switching back the other way. The store bought produce hasn't got anything on the home grown stuff! Doesn't even taste like the same thing half the time! I wonder if home grown veggies have a few more cals in them because they taste so much better? I HOPE NOT!

HEEEEE'SSS BBBAAACCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

Vacation is just about over.....if I am lucky, I might get a couple more days at the cottage but for now, I can say this was the best summer of my life.
The weather was great, and the fam really enjoyed themselves with little bickering from the kids and surprisingly no bloodshed between the adults!
lol

Yesterday was my official back in the groove day...

B-oatmeal with blueberries, raspberries, 6 oz milk and protein powder.
L-2 chicken breasts that were slow cooked in broth and one cucumber
S-2 oz of old cheddar cheese
D-One can of tuna and 2 rice cakes
S-One peach (gawd theyre sooo good when they gush on the first bite!)

I just got off work and had to have something in my gut since I last ate something around midnite...so I had 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. (luv the stuff)

Going to be a quiet day here today...hopefully I can get some decent sleep but its raining here and the kids are sure to be indoors and noisy. Oh well....

I got to peruse a few diaries last nite at work...Looks like we lost a few journalists over the summer....hopefully they come back with even more inspiration and motivation to share.

Well. hope you all are doing well and look forward to catching up with everybody!

Have a great weekend!

Really happy to see you back :D
I hope you manage to get the last few days at the cottage and well done on getting back to your healthy eating :)

WELCOME BACK! :D I'm thrilled you had an amazing time (no bloodshed is also good!) but I'm sure lots of people will be happy to see more of you here, including me. :)

Also, cottage cheese is... a bit of heaven on my tongue. That feels so strange for me to write because until about a month ago I could not have imagined it and even loathed it the first time that I had it. But it is some seriously tasty stuff. :D

I hope you managed to get some of that sleep in. Rain always does wonders to put me in a relaxed mood and I hope it did some of that for you. :)

Good Morning!

(Actually good nite here......hopefully hittin the sack in a few minutes; end of my niteshift.)

Yesterday, I managed to get about 4 hours sleep. The kids did the best they could to keep the noise down but it was shortlived. So I got up and puttered in the garage.
I had my regular oatmeal brekkie and was very hungry by suppertime. This and little sleep made me a little grizzly to say the least. I think my wife was happy to see me off to work last nite :/ .

Supper was a really nice steak dinner with fresh garden bean salad and fresh cucumber spears. I passed on the rice as I wanted every mouthful of steak my calorie alotment would allow! lol

But it wasnt long after I got to work I was hungry again....
So I had about 2 oz of old cheddar. Then about an hour later I had a huge pear. And then it was a small peach....and shortly after a can of tuna.
(But then I found the previous shift had food brought in and there was a tonne of leftovers (pasta sausages and meatballs).....and I caved. Two sausages later and luckily I was satisfied without trying the pasta or the meatballs.
And that settled me for the rest of the nite.
I'm sure the sausages put me over my cal limit as they are rather high...but I just couldnt seem to feel satiated.

Going to try to balance the cals today with high volume low cal foods.

Well...thats all I have to report. Hopefully I'll be home in a few minutes, maybe then peruse a few more journals and then crash for probably another short sleep. With anyl uck, my wife will have the cubs out somewhere but I'm afraid the weather isn't looking too good right now. Oh well....bears have been known to eat there young sometimes! lol

Have a great day guys!!

Years ago....(I hate when that happens cause it also makes me realize how old I am getting)...I hated cottage cheese. The texture, the name, the fact it was related to diets! lol.

Now I crave it. Plain, with some salt and pepper....Mmmmmm. I am a little leary to try it with fruit like alot of people eat it, but someday I might give it a go....maybe when I get bored of eating it plain.

Take care!

but I just couldnt seem to feel satiated.
I get days like that and I eat everything healthy in sight and then still end up eating something not so healthy before I feel satiated. I may as well just eat the junk straight away as I end up going way over my calories just on the healthy stuff.
Hope you manage to get a bit more sleep today :)

Welcome back! I've been away for a few days and am just trying to catch up on a few journals before bed.

I've been experimenting with cottage cheese lately myself. I like it best with diced onions, all season salt, pepper, and garlic powder - YUM! I have tried different fruits but don't care for it as well. The worst was a concoction I made with diced apples, cottage cheese and cinnamon. The taste wasn't all that bad, but the texture bugged me - crunchy apples with squishy cottage cheese.

And of course when all else fails - I still love it just plain right out of the container! I'd like to hear about any good variations you've tried too!

I'm still enjoying it pretty plain and simple. Why ruin a good thing right? Reminds me of when I was a kid....a kid who loved iceceam and Coke. Well my dear Aunt thought to make icecream floats with vanilla icecream and Coke when I was about 12...and I puked soo much, I still have the taste in the back of my mind!!! lol (Gawd that was horrid) Lucky I still like icecream and Coke, but not together!

So...I'm gonna wait for the guinea pigs like yourself to try the variations I think! lol

(But I will keep my eyes open for anything interesting)

I'm in a rut. An exercise rut.

Foodwise has been very good....no junk, only healthy and in moderate quantities....but exercise is just not that appealing to me right now.

My neck is still bothering me, (but only a fraction of what it was) and I feel really blah. I don't know why. Maybe I need a kick in the ass or something.
Any takers?? lol

I am working dayshift (yesterday and today) and again have been getting by with minimal sleep. (about 8 hours in two days.) Maybe thats why I'm in a rut....who knows. But at 5:30 this afternoon, Flumes is off for a long weekend.

Hopefully head out to the cottage again and get started on redoing the roof. (Shingles and fixing any soft spots from previous water damage) I'm sure I'll be sore and tired for the next few days. It won't be a fun weekend, but it needs to be done and the weather looks favourable.

Not much else to report.....if I can think of anything, I'll be back :)

Time to do some work :(

I LOVE icecream floats. We used to crumble chocolate Flakes into them. Yummy

Time to do some work :(

I know what you mean. I'm having a hard time getting back into it after not doing any while on vacation. I'm grasping at anything and everything to use as some sort of motivation. Truth is I'm just getting bored with it I think. Maybe it's time to change up my routine or something?

Roofing is probably good exercise I bet (at least from what I remember from the times I've helped). So it's not like you are laying around on the sofa in front of the TV all day every day. And the eating is good - which in my opinion is how we lose the weight anyway. The exercise just makes us look sexier when all that weight has fallen off from eating well. :reddevil:

Boun giorno,

Today was a great start to what soon turned into a mess.

Breakfast was oatmealless. Didnt make any last night before bed and my fridge supply was consumed yesterday morning.

So I had a grilled chicken breast for brekfast at 7 am! lol. (I was staring and had been up since 4:30 am. and it was the leanest thing I had in the fridge.)

I drank a litre of water and kept myself from snacking until lunch, where the company surprisingly bought chinese for everybody as a treat. Thats where it fell apart.
After an eggroll, 4 chicken balls, some peppered beef, fried rice, and then seconds of more rice and some chop suey...I'm probably over my daily allowance. But then, the desert tray came out....from the best Italian cakery no less. Aye karumba! So I sampled the 'peach', the canoli, and the rasberry chocolate square. It could have been worse, (had it been a year ago.)

So now I'm feelin like a shmuck.

I'm off work in a few minutes and headin out to the cottage for a last glimpse of summer.

I hope you all have a great weekend and if I get some time, I'll check in from out there.

Take care!

Ciao! Ciao!

Flumes, just think of the chinese as damage limitation. Picture the plate you ate the other day and then mentally compare it to what you would have eaten a year ago...all lined up on the table...then shudder!!! Lucky escape huh?!? In that context, I'd view it that you faced a real challenge and DIDN'T slip back into your old eating habits. Sure you probably ate a fair amount compared to how you eat now but jeepers, you aren't becoming a trappist monk, you are changing to an overall healthier lifestyle - there's a difference!

As for the kick up the ass...don't tell me I have to hop on a plane and come and actually do it?!? Consider yourself VIRTUALLY KICKED UP THE ASS..feel the kick coming through them optic fibres and connecting with your ass! Come on. Sure your neck hurts but there must be something you can do - if you can't run, go out walking! If you can't move your shoulders, do something with your legs.

:)

Flumes!!!! :grouphug:!! How are you Buddy!??!!!! :D! Long time no see!!Ahhhhh...The cottage!!!! I loveeeeee your cottage! I hope you had a wonderful last intake of the summer!!! You deserve it!!! :D!!! Hope life has been treating you well lately!!! I was reading that you are bored with your routine!! I hear that!!!

I know I've fallen off many times because of that, I'm actually changing it all up too!!! :D! Keep it FRESH right!?! ;) OooUuuU! Have a great day! :D!
