I'm not looking forward to my next electrical bill as I have had a heater in our bedroom since we got back from Queensland. We never have heating in our bedroom. 500g of potatoes? Wowsers. You must have seriously needed some catching up. I hope you can get back to regular eating again with the A/C. It's nearly Chinchilla time.........yay!
 
I think Hegel will just accept the ac as part of his new surroundings. Let's hope you won't need it too often though because I'm already sick of this hot, muggy summer weather.
Yay for appetite!

Let's hope so! I still need to put up the plastic sheet that covers the open window. For my peace of mind I may need to come up with something sturdier to block the open window too, as if something happens and the little man attempts another jailbreak, he'd be falling down from the 7th floor... Obviously I would never leave him unattended in the room, but just in case he got out of his cage somehow and went to explore...
 
I often see mesh screens on the windows and balconies of cat kingdoms. Maybe that would be useful for Hegel as well?

Mesh probably wouldn't help, I'm looking into plywood and insulation elements. Both can also be gnawed through but the material has to be something that would keep the man busy for a while in case of a jailbreak, which would increase my chances of catching him in time, and also maybe giving him time to realize that the window is too high up to jump from. Chinchillas have bad eyesight but as a mountain-dwelling animal I think they must have some way to gauge distances based on how their whiskers sense the wind, drafts etc. So if he would gnaw a hole into a sturdier material he'd probably realize jumping would mean death. Thankfully ex-MIL has some stuff lying around, I'll go check those out tonight in a few hours.

I've had chia slime, frozen fruit, frozen peas, and two ham quesadillas today. Took my ADHD meds and did laundry and changed the bedsheets. Next I'll go pick up a carrier for Hegel and more meds for me, and more grated cheese too. Yay, the doctor is next week. I had a few drinks in the weekend as well as vaped ganja with my ex but yesterday I started a mini abstinence just in case the doctor wants to take drug tests or test me for alcoholic metabolites on 13.7.. 10 days should give me clear results of both especially as I've been drinking and/or smoking very infrequently. Which is actually something I want to congratulate myself about. I didn't go apeshit with substances even during the worst of my flashbacks.
 
Given all you've been through the past couple of weeks you've done extremely well and you 100% deserve to be proud of that.

I picked up the carrier box from the post and put it together and I'm so excited!!! Scared but excited!
 
Yay, ex-FIL is going to McGyver me a plywood window cover to give a lil extra protection until I figure out the best way to keep Hegel secure :)

I didn't really sleep last night. I watched "Possessor" by Brandon Cronenberg and it was a great movie in all its nihilism, but struck a pretty painful nerve about questions of identity, family, and mental soundness. I managed to doze off a tiny bit before heading to the dental hygienist with an autism assistance person. Turns out I had slight inflammation in my gums but that should be sorted out now that the tartar's out. I should get it removed once a year but due to covid I missed last year.

Spicy instant ramen with egg and cheese, my first meal of the day.
 
This is wild. In a Finnish town, some folks tore down Pride flags and set up a home made explosive in a library. The police brushes this off as dumb teenagers being dumb. When this is in fact homeland terrorism.

Kinda weighing in the possibility of scoring a cishet hubby and withdrawing from society as my options seem to literally be between freedom and death o_O
 
If you have a choice between freedom and death it seems pretty obvious :p Sorry, I know what you meant. Dealing with external factors would obviously be easier if you pretended to be cishet. If that would be worth the inner torture is something only you can decide.

Tonight is my last night in a pet-less home, maybe for two decades if god so wills it.

I cleaned up. Set up a plastic cover for my window where the AC exhaust pipe goes out of. Bought food that's easy to eat as I'll be busy with the little dude as he settles into his forever home. Even bought -30% steak that will expire today. And of course ordered hay, quality pellets, appletree sticks, pumice stones, a cozy hammock, and good quality bathing sand for my man.
