Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Way to go! If you're going for longer than an hour, I would look into a couple of supplments. One is Carbo Load, which is a pure carb replacement that you mix with your water. This will let you replace about half the calories you lose in an hour, which is just about right. The other is ThermoLyte, which is good for replenishing salt and electrolytes, and keeps you from cramping.

Yes, thanks--my legs were VERY UNHAPPY when I got off the bike!!

I got bored after 1 and 1/2 hour. Then I was Ok. Then the last 1/2 hour all I wanted was to get back to the brewery ;) How do you go for 6 hours?!?!??

Weight 229.2 - Round 6 Day 15. I can't say I'm surprised. Yesterday's reading, like I thought, was just the scale gods getting knocked off balance by all that exercise.

Hey you know, I was 144 this morning while Friday I was 142.5 or something, and yesterday I was doing all that exercise. I think both of us will probably get back down 3 lbs. I caved in last night and ate 2 bagels before bed. Talk about glycogen stores!

LOL, when you get my age, you enjoy slowing down and smelling the roses, so to speak. :)

Tom you spent 6 hours on a bike ride. REALLY?? I'm with Val on that one, after two hours I would be ready to do something else, that's a long ride! So am I reading your post correctly, your on another plateau?? My scale didn't move a pound the entire month of June, can you believe that?? I'm going to trick my body this month and go for the gusto!! It's probably in shock that I didn't have oatmeal today, HAHAHA Oh well, something has to get it going again. I did lose inches, so I'm not complaining one tiny bit!. I would love to be the one to break this plateau this time, okay?? Hope you have a wonderful rest of your Monday!
Kim

How do you smell the roses when you're whirring by those roses at 30mph on a 60 mile bike trip?

nope try again... not buying it.

LOL, yes, on the downhills I may be going 30 mph, but on the long uphills, I'm lucky to hit 6 mph. At that speed, you would almost leave me in the dust going on one of your walks!

Yep, the Saturday before last one. I'm planning to do it again on the 21st, when I hope to complete my first 100 mile ride.

Yes, I'm on Round 6 now. This one has only lasted 15 days so far . . . I probably have another 15 or so to go. At least you're losing inches -- that's the most important thing. Thanks for visiting!

I think Tom isn't just riding that far just to ride per se, but he's in training for the century ride. That would be a major accomplishment to complete the century and it definitely requires lots of training to build up to that level. Aside from my ass hurting like hell after so long on the bike, I think it sounds like a really nice way to spend the day and get in a ton of exercise and fresh air at the same time. Now running, to me that is grueling and not at all fun..every second is pure misery.

*chipper grumbling* :D

I see you around alot and wanted to drop by and say Hi!:)

Hi! Thanks for dropping by!

Yeah, I can't run like Val. And with a bent, my ass doesn't hurt at all! As long as you can get out of the mentality of having to be the fastest bike out there, it's a great ride.

Exercise Log, 7/9/07

Today was Weights 1 - upper body:
View attachment 3869

I was really struggling with the bench press today. For one thing, this was the best I've ever done on it; for another, supersetting a bench press and a Pendlay Row really got to me. I was able to complete the first 3/5 set, but on the last 1x8 set, I only got to 7. If I had a spotter there, I would have gone for #8, but I don't relish the idea of being pinned there on the bench yelling for someone to help, while I have 170 lbs. resting on my chest.

The other exercises were tough too, I guess because I raised my weights on almost everything.

After that, I went for a 65 minute bike ride. I went 22 miles, and I guess I was going at a pretty good clip, because I averaged about 21 miles an hour. Using my new calculation of 40 calories per mile, I burned 880 calories. That, plus the 430 calories I burned in weight lifting, gave me a calorie expenditure for the day of 1,310 calories, which should give me a nice deficit for the day.

My daughter's dating a personal trainer now. He trains some big name celebrities. I guess I can't talk shit about PT's anymore! :rotflmao:He sounds like a really nice guy, though, and he treats her really well.

Struggling and tough and the best you've ever done - sounds like a recipe for satisfaction to me. :)

LOL How very interesting that your girl is going out with a PT! :D I guess having him treat her well is the bottom line.

Hahahaha :) you'll have to zip it! He sounds great. How old is your daughter?

Always fascinated by your discipline and how you record everything in detail :)

Round 6, Day 15. Up, down, up, down -- that's the way this Round seems to be going. I land a punch, the scale gods land a punch. But they're weakening, I think. A couple more weeks of this, and they'll be running for the corner.

Yesterday's food came to 2,317 calories:
Fat: 69 gm, 26%; 8 gm saturated, 3%
Carbs: 301 gm, 48%; 45 gm fiber
Protein: 149 gm, 26%
Alcohol: 10 gm, 3%

With my NARM of 2,330 calories, plus 1,310 calories from exercise, I ended the day with a deficit of 1,323 calories, giving me an accumulated deficit in this Round of 7,989 calories, and a deficit of 4,493 calories month to date.

Morning Tom!! What was your weight today?? The same?? Your going to hit one of those days again when you jump on the scale and it's dropped 5 lbs you watch!! With all that exercise and bike riding, Oh yeah mark my words on that one! How fun to be able to ride around on a bike, I don't get home in time to do that right now, maybe later next year. :rotflmao: Have a wonderful day today!
Kim

Hi, Kim. Yeah, I have a lot of fun on the bike. It's hard after a tough session with the weights, though! Say, I still have that offer open for you to come fix my back yard. . .

Have a great one!
