I see you around alot and wanted to drop by and say Hi!
Hi! Thanks for dropping by!
I think Tom isn't just riding that far just to ride per se, but he's in training for the century ride. That would be a major accomplishment to complete the century and it definitely requires lots of training to build up to that level. Aside from my ass hurting like hell after so long on the bike, I think it sounds like a really nice way to spend the day and get in a ton of exercise and fresh air at the same time. Now running, to me that is grueling and not at all fun..every second is pure misery.
Yeah, I can't run like Val. And with a bent, my ass doesn't hurt at all! As long as you can get out of the mentality of having to be the fastest bike out there, it's a great ride.

Exercise Log, 7/9/07
Today was Weights 1 - upper body:

I was really struggling with the bench press today. For one thing, this was the best I've ever done on it; for another, supersetting a bench press and a Pendlay Row really got to me. I was able to complete the first 3/5 set, but on the last 1x8 set, I only got to 7. If I had a spotter there, I would have gone for #8, but I don't relish the idea of being pinned there on the bench yelling for someone to help, while I have 170 lbs. resting on my chest.
The other exercises were tough too, I guess because I raised my weights on almost everything.
After that, I went for a 65 minute bike ride. I went 22 miles, and I guess I was going at a pretty good clip, because I averaged about 21 miles an hour. Using my new calculation of 40 calories per mile, I burned 880 calories. That, plus the 430 calories I burned in weight lifting, gave me a calorie expenditure for the day of 1,310 calories, which should give me a nice deficit for the day.
My daughter's dating a personal trainer now. He trains some big name celebrities. I guess I can't talk shit about PT's anymore!

He sounds like a really nice guy, though, and he treats her really well.
