Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Glad to hear you had a nice holiday...

Though working 10 hours a day seems a little less like a holiday than I would have imagined. But the quality time I am sure was well worth it!

Glad to hear you ate heartily and enjoyed yourself. Proof that we do not need to be calorie counting machines every second to get to our goals. I experienced the same when I went to Thailand this year. I ate like a king and drank a few beers and fruity cocktails myself, and didn't have the expected massive increase on the scales. I suspect that little vacation will be the kick start to a whole new round of succesful weight loss for ya Tom! Good on ya!

But now, time to get back on the wagon and start counting those calories.

Onwards and Upwards!

Weight: 239.6 - Body Fat - 25.9%.

Definitely starting plateau #3, but I'm totally fine with that, since I'm already way ahead of target for the month. Even if it takes a record 40 days to break through this plateau, I'll be on schedule!

I was all set to hit the gym yesterday afternoon, around 4 pm, and when I got there, it was closed. Doh! Forgot about closing early on Easter. So I'll just chalk up yesterday to "managing fatigue" and start my new 18 day regimen today. I was supposed to do HIIT, but that seems a bit too ambitious after being off for 12 days. Steady state cardio it is, then, and Weights "A" tomorrow.

Did pretty well on the intake side yesterday - 1,999 calories (44% fat, 21% carb, 35% protein). Most of the fat came from a chunk of salmon, so only 12% of my intake was saturated. Ended up with a deficit for the day of 324 calories.

We talked to our son last night, and he spent the rest of the weekend cleaning up his apartment. He's totally thrilled with the way it looks.

Here's a photo of the two of us, after construction, but before cleanup.

Thanks for dropping by. My computer got totally hosed last week. I've had to start from scratch reinstalling everything. What a bummer!

Welcome back Tom! Definitely a great picture of the two of you!! Glad to hear you are ready to get back into the swing of things. :)

Hi Tom - You look great in the picture with you and your son!!!! Such a lovely picture of two happy, hard working guys! Welcome back!

Jerry, Steve, Rachie, Valerie, Kelly, Daise, & Cannon -- thanks for all your nice comments. My son is the handsome one!

Today's workout - Day 1 in my new 18 day regimen:
Steady state cardio, 65 minutes, 1,000 calories.
Avg. HR = 150 (89% of max)
Avg. speed = 155 rpm at level 11
5.9 miles

Off to a good start!

You are both handsome ones!!! And as for your workout... wow! Kicking some serious butt. Off to a VERY good start!

hah!

Rachie & Daise, you sure know how to make an old guy feel young!

Just you wait buddy, soon you will be making all those young guys feel old! You are only as old as you feel, and you my friend, you have the heart and soul of a younger man than I have been most of my adult life. Good on ya!

Great picture! & congrats on the work u got done. ehm! do you have any snaps of u two hunks, all bare chested & sweaty with all that carpentary?:D

Weight: 238.4 - Body Fat 26.1%.

OK, the scale's messing with my head, that's for sure. It is a nice "tease" though. Eight years ago, I got down to 234, so I'm getting very close to that, and once I drop below that, it'll be the lowest since 1988.

Food intake was very high quality yesterday -- nothing but healthy stuff. 2,603 calories total. Fat: 105 grams (37%), but only 20 grams of saturated. Carbs: 267 grams (39%), with 36 grams of fiber. Protein: 132 grams (20%). Alcohol: 10 grams (3%), from 1 glass of wine at dinner.

With the 1,000 calories from my SS Cardio yesterday, I ran a deficit of 719 calories for the day.

Today's deficit will be a bit smaller, since today is my "Weights A" day, and I'll burn a little over 500 calories. I'm actually looking forward to doing weights again. The poundage will be 10 to 15 pounds lower than what I got up to before my vacation, just to ease myself into it. I'm hoping by the end of April to be pretty much where I finished in March, and then to make some small gains in May.

ps. Rashmi & Sirant -- thanks for your nice comments.

do you have any snaps of u two hunks, all bare chested & sweaty with all that carpentary?
:p LOL, that'll be the day! Well, maybe I'll do it on my 60th birthday!
