You've made it to your March goal already - and there's days and days of March still to go!

Your five day moving average must be showing something worth looking at. Do we get another graph pic? :)

Thanks, felici. I haven't made it for sure yet, but I'm allowing myself some hope. Here's the graph:

oh thats a nice graph, what did you use to map that? :)

Mine bounces up and down like that as well, its annoying and frustrating. atm im about 6lb up from what i was yesterday (though to be honest its arvo, i have my shoes on, and i just ate a massive breakfast and lunch).

Ah hah!!!

I knew you had it in ya big guy! For sure you da man for my corner!

I can't wait till I hit 242. Good job Tom, that goal is right around the corner!

It's just a regular Excel graph. Geez, if I weighed myself with my shoes on and after breakfast, it would be like starting all over again!

Thanks, sirant. Well, not exactly "around the corner" -- more like a year and a half away. But, in the context of 58 years, I guess that is just around the corner.

So yesterday, when I weighed in at 243.0 again, I thought maybe I was back to the plateau again. But this morning I came in at 241.2 -- my lowest weight in 8 years! :D :D I'm still not 100% sure, but I have a feeling I've got this plateau licked.

Thursday was my off day, so all I did was some walking on the beach for exercise. Still, I came in with a deficit of 323 calories for the day.

Yesterday was a blockbuster deficit, what with good eating during the day for only 2,159 calories and a 1.75 hour beach walk in the morning and a hard interval session in the afternoon, burning off a total of 1,234 calories, and leading to a deficit of 1,234 calories for the day.

I decided to take most of the day off from the internet yesterday -- sometimes you just need to restore some balance in your life. I feel better for it.

Marlene and I went out to get our weekly piece of chocolate yesterday, and I was looking at a pair of pants I bought 5 months ago that were WAY too small. At the time, I was going to return them, but then I thought it would be a really cool feeling one day to be able to put them on, and have them fit nicely. And that's what happened. A small victory, to be sure, but sweet nevertheless.

I'm pretty confident about meeting my goals for this month, not just for weight, but for everything else. So far, I'm right on track. It's been a bear, it really has. You just have to be patient. I'm beginning to think that plateaus are just the way I lose weight now, and I have to have the patience to ride them out. Eventually, if I just keep doing the right thing, my body will respond.

Thanks, Mal. And hopefully a warning to all those young whipper-snappers what it's like if you postpone this life change until you're my age!

Your exercise days sound incredibly strenuous. It's great that you are getting the payoff for them on the scales and with the trousers. :)

From your chart it looks like you most often do have a higher weight day immediately after a low one. It's very jagged! The downward trend is definitely there now though.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Yeah, that's why I started looking at the 5 day moving average as well. Otherwise you can drive yourself crazy with all the peaks and valleys.

Tomo

Congratulations on your breakthrough Tomo. That's wonderful news. And enjoy wearing those new pants. You must have a smile on your face today.

Workout Log - 3/24/2007

Thanks for all your support, daise and kelly! It's one of the things that helped get me through this last plateau.

Now for today's workout:

Weight Training, Group 1 - 49 min., 543 calories.

a) BB Squat, 1 x 5 @ 95 lbs. [warmup]; 5 x 5 @ 185 lbs. [Difficulty = 2]
b) BB Bench Press, 5 x 5 @ 155 lbs. [Diff = 2+]
c) DB 1 Arm Row, 5 x 5 @ 65 lbs. [Diff = 2]
d) Pullups, 5 x 5 @ level 16 [Diff = 2+]
e) Stdg. Military Press, 5 x 5 @ 100 lbs. [Diff = 2+]

Notes:
Overall, not a whole lot of progress from last time, but still a good workout.
a) Had a difficulty rating of 2 for last 2 times, so next time I'm going to raise it to 190 lbs. I'd love to be squatting 200+ lbs. on my 59th birthday this July. Form was better than usual -- I could feel my hams right on my calves, so I know I was getting down low!
b) No progress here, but I upped the weight too much on 3/17 (20 lbs.), so I'll need some more time at this weight.
c) Some progress here. If I have one more time with a diff of 2, I'll up this to 70 lbs. I'd like to hit 75 lbs. by my birthday.
d) Not a whole lot of progress here.
e) Seemed tougher than last week even. Maybe I was tired. I think I'll need at least 2 or 3 more weeks at this weight.

Yay!

So glad for you--nice chart! Yes, I feel you--I reached my lowest weight in 4 and 1/2 years, which is a long time for a snot-nosed kid ;) Glad you have confidence--that's probably a factor in your ability to lose weight! I really believe mind power has a big part in anything we do. Sometimes I run across people who aren't ready to let go of something emotionally or mentally, and things dont happen for them--but it you want something 99% (I could say 100% but I'm choosing not to--hey we all have our other sides) you WILL achieve it. :D

When's your b-day?

You're working really hard as usual. :)

I bet your family is really proud of what you are doing.
