Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Even though I think it's just a case of "super tough work-out = post training tiredness" I still wanna play the "what made Tom tired" game:)

Could it be the previous night's ETOH? Seriously, that's the reason I had to cut out my measly 2 glasses of red wine on my weekly girl's nite out Thursdays....I started noticing that my lifts were for crap on Friday and I was more tired than seemed warrented...couldn't figure out if it was the lack of sleep or the wine...so I started leaving earlier but it didn't help, started drinking h20 instead of wine, and bingo. Of course, I'm a real light weight when it comes to alcohol in any form so probably a problem/solution unique to me.
 
HMMM. . . Maybe. But gee, I only had one measly glass of wine for dinner the night before. If that is the reason, then I think I'll just have to accept being a little wiped out after next day's workout. :)

What is ETOH, anyway?
 
Hey Bruce. Same to you. I had a good night sleep, so I'm ready for my workout today. Too bad it's SS Cardio day -- my least favorite.
 
Hey Tom.. I actually got some sleep last night myself! FINALLY!! Ready for the gym today.. Back/Bicep/Calves day for me.. but only get an hour to lift then I am off to my softball game! Doubt I'll be eating tonight.. won't get home until probably 7:30ish! Ugh!! Oh well, there is always yogurt!! :)

I drink them after a hard workout -- either my weight training or HIIT. I do it because otherwise it's hard to get in enough protein. And they taste great!
 
I usually have my Whey Protein shake in the morning with my breakfast. which is usually a yougurt or something. It's vanilla flavored so I mix it with some OJ.. tastes like an orange julius! I should have one later in the day after my workout too...

For some reason, there were lots of people in the squat cage, which is right next to the step mill. I watched 10 people do squats. 9 of them stopped well before parallel, and 1 went to parallel. And these were mostly young guys, in good shape. Pathetic.
 
I love protein shakes, I definately have a hard time getting in protein so it's a very good for that reason! I like vanilla to mix with things, the chocolate ones are good by themselves. I should try the whole vanilla powder with orange juice, sounds yummy.

Sorry you had to endure SS cardio, but I'm positive you did awesome at it anyways! About the squats or any type of weight lifting exercise, that people just have the knowledge on proper technique. I know if I tried to go and do a squat I wouldn't be doing it right and it's not because of the shape I'm in, but because I just don't know the proper technique. So those guys some may just be half assing it, most probably don't know any better and think they're doing it right, heh.

Yes, what you say is definitely true. I shouldn't blame them. It's just sad that almost everyone doing that particular exercise has bad form. I don't think any other exercise in the gym is as "abused" that way. I guess 2nd are bicep curls, where a lot of guys seem to think it's really cool to load up the ez-bar and put their entire body into it.

Hey dats my favorite! Ha... guess I didn't like weights dat much. Prob cos i used to be a bowler and lugging those balls in a bag around on buses was enuf for me.

That's when you squat down far enough so your thighs are parallel to the ground. A lot of people think they are saving their knees by going short of parallel, but actually they are putting more stress on their knees that way.
