First Diary, New Effort......

You are doing Great with your workouts. I remeber when I use to jog on the treadmill. I thought I did that long enough and I could jog around my nieghbor hood. Well, I sure learned something new that day. LOL!! It is very different joggin on the pavement then on a treadmill. I love it. It's a good workout.

Well, you have a Awesome day and Keep Positive. Dont forget to drink your WATER!!!!

Yes, for the first time in a while I was sore all over, and I attributed it to the outdoor jog, it's also a more peaceful jog, it feels more comfortable and exciting at the same time than a gym jog.

:D

Mar. 10 ---

I had my meal replacement shake in the morning along with a banana and my vitamins. In school I was super busy in the morning and was only able to eat two nutri-grain bars and two orange juices.

I finally got to eat at around 4 p.m. But it had to be at Taco Bell, at least I got me some healthy choices! The fresco chicken burrito supreme (which I consider pretty healthy because of what it has inside, chicken, chopped tomatoes and onions, beans, and rice) you can't go wrong with that. And also a chicken soft taco. Unfortunately they gave me the wrong one and it had some kind of green sauce in it, but hey, more fuel for the fire eh?

I went the gym at 5 p.m., I did 30 mins on the cross-training machine, took a water break, then did another 30 mins on the same machine.

I came home and need to eat me something........

Mar. 10 ---

I ate at 9 p.m. I cooked a large chicken breast and split it with my brother, I also had it with some rice.

I'm bout to hit the gym in a bit.

I'm not trying to overtrain or anything, though I think you really can't anyways if all your doing is cardio. I'm trying to loss a lot more this month, a bit of a challenge for myself, and I'm trying to do it by working out twice a day as most days as I can. I love to workout anyways, especially with all that loud motivating rock music bumping in my headphones the whole time. :D

Mar. 10 ---

I went to the gym, at about 10ish. I got on the treadmill for 30 mins at a high incline and alternating between 4.7 mph jogging with no incline.

I then jumped in the pool for a good 20 mins, I can definitely swim farther now :D

After wards I got in the jacuzzi for like 5 mins i think. Then I went in the sauna for 5 mins, and the steam room for almost 10 mins.

Mar. 11 ---

Yesterday I wasn't able to eat solid food until 4 p.m.! Since I was so calorie deprived I had a turkey burger AND fries. Now I hadn't had fries in a while, and these left me feeling bad, I had a bad feeling in my stomach and I could 'taste' the grease in my stomach, not good.

In the morning all I had was a banana and my vitamins, in the evening I had some dinner but don't remember what.

I was feeling tired yesterday and only did 30 mins of cardio the whole day.

Mar. 12 ---

I had my shake in the morning, with a granola bar. Then later near noon I had two sandwiches, mexican style I don't think they were too healthy but they were just two. I then went to the gym at about 2:30 p.m. I did 60 mins of cardio, 30 mins on the elliptical and another 30 on the treadmill.

At around 5-6ish I had me a nice full dinner, two chicken legs (not fried) with a nice serving of beans and rice, and some broccoli as well. I also had some fruit today.

I plan on going to the gym in a little bit.........

Hey Dude, I know what you mean about the whole greasy fries thing. I really can't drink sodas - I've been on just-water for almost four years, and that much syrupy stuff makes me... :ack2:.

You're really going to town with your exercise. And "just" 30 min of cardio is enough to wear me out. It looks like you're doing really great - keep at it!

^^Yeah, I'm giving it that extra effort to see if I can lose more or as much as last month. Since I'm going on a school trip to France in July, I'm also trying to lose as much as I can by then, I wanna look my best abroad. Wouldn't wanna represent too much of the American stereotype over there.

Mar. 12 ---

I went to the gym that night, it was about 10 p.m. I did 20 mins on the elliptical, then I did some 15 mins of weights, I got in the pool for 20 mins, jacuzzi for 5, sauna for 5, then the steam room for 10.

I was debating with myself wether I should weigh myself or not, I really wanted to beacause of all the exercise I had done that week, but I also didn't cause I just wanted to do it once a month, for that added 'effect'.

Well I ended up weighing myself, and was disappointed with the number :(. I ended up going on a bit of a binge before I went to bed, I promise myself I'm not doing that again (weighing myself prematurely and eating so much).

Now that I think about it, I always weigh a good 2-2.5 pounds less in the morning than the night before.

Mar. 13 ---

Today I didn't have time for breakfast, so all I had were my vitamins and a plum. I got to eat at 12:30, I had a chicken sandwich with a side of steamed broccoli over at Sizzler's. I also had one of their buttered toasted slices of bread, very good.

I had some bread my mom made, it's a bit greasy so I got that greasy feeling in my stomach again.

I bought me a measuring tape so I could take my measurements, I will post them in a bit, then I'll re-measure myself on my next weigh in date, April 5th. Then every month after that.

nice to see a fellow gym-a-holic on these forums! keep up teh good work man, although i could never do 2 times a day.

Measurements

Ok, today I took my measurements, some of these are embarrassing :blush5:, but for the sake of record keeping, here they are........

Chest: 46"
Arm (bicep while flexed): 15.5"
Stomach (Abdomen): 47"
Waist: 43.5"
Thigh (dead center between knee and waist): 26"
Calf (across widest part): 18.5"

I took a measurement everywhere I could take one, I took them all over, head, feet, hands, forearm, wrist, ankle, knee, forearm, butt, and neck. These I'm keeping private until I've reached my goal.

hey dude,

been reading through your journal and had a couple questions and comments. hope you don't take offense to any.

questions:
when you say high intensity on the elliptical, are you turning up the resistance or just going faster? i am just curious, as i have not turn up resistance yet, but i am at the point to now.

when you do weights are you on free weights, or the machines? i would recommend moving to free weights as soon as you can, as it works a bit more muscles.

how much water do you drink, that plays a key in getting rid of that fat as well!

comments:

make sure you sleep. Sleep is KEY to losing weight. you need a good amount of sleep to let your body do it's thing.

keep up the great work, and since we both ahve these gym addictions, i think i will be checking your diary more often!

Hey man, thanks for reading......

I usually get it to a point where I'm pushing, meaning it's not really easy for me, so I don't really go that fast, usually under 5.0 under the speed reading, but I'm pushing to make it go.

:iagree:

I'm pretty much always on the machines. I'm not sure how to properly use free weights, but your advise sounds good, I think I'ma have to educate myself on how to use them.

I've been drinking lots of water. On most days I go through 3 bottles of 1 liter and 33oz of Dasani water. The days I carry my own bottle, it's a big one, could probably fit those 3 in there. Then there's the glasses of water I drink from the fridges water dispenser.

I've been drinking so much water it's basically all I drink these days.

It's rare when I don't sleep all night, I get my sleep like 98% percent of the time, sometimes I just have stay up cause I let my work pile up, but otherwise I think my sleep is pretty good.

Do you have a diary? If you do I'll be checking it as well. Good luck on your goals man, may be both get where we wanna be. :)

i have a diary as well. just click my username, click the statistics tab, and find all threads started by me. i believe that is the only one i have, so it won't be hard.

as for the elliptical, i was just curious. me i have mine on the base setting and try not to go under 8 miles an hour for 65 minutes straight. last time i hit a new record of 9.03 miles, which i am very proud of. it helps your stamina out so much, doesn't it?

yeah as far as free weights go, in my experiences there is usually that one guy who wants to help everyone. let him help you. i go before teh craxk of dawn (literally) and its the same guys there every day. we've gotten to know each other, and have no problem helping each other out or giving tips or pointer without fear of offending anyone. you don't particularly have to use the barbells, you can use the dumb bell started out and it would still be better than using the machine, unless you really are just tryong to isolate one muscle to work. i guess i'll be seeing you in my diary soon

Mar. 13 ---

I decide to take that day off from going to the gym, instead at night for dinner I ordered some pizza. :blush5:

My mom and brother ate from it too, but I feel I ate too much, the last slice I kinda was forcing myself to eat, and ended up getting a tummy ache cause I ate so much. :(

Mar. 14 ---

I got me some good sleep last night, woke up around 11ish today. For breakfast I had one of my shakes, along with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat, and a pop tart too :).

I went to the gym around 2ish. I did 60 mins of cardio. 30 mins on the treadmill and another 30 on the elliptical.

I then got in the jacuzzi for 5, sauna for 5, and finally steam room for 10.

I'm about to get me something to eat, me be hungry.......

Mar. 14 ---

I had myself a turkey burger for dinner along with some steamed broccoli. A little later I was still kinda hungry so I had some chicken mole tortas, dunno how healthy those are, but I finally felt filled up.

At about 9:35 p.m. I went jogging outdoors at night. I did four miles. Of course I can't jog them straight non-stop, so there was a lot of walking involved too, but I made sure my hear rate was always elevated. This took me about 1 hour to do.

Skip Machines..

Hey man, thanks for reading......

Hey Congrats on all your hard work! I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised when you go to weigh in next month.

I too am working hard at the gym and doing some research as to what the best types of weight routines are. Although machine are good, most of the time you are sitting and isolating only the muscles being used ex: bicep. One way to really get the most out of your exercise is to use a larger muscle groups. So do curls on one of those half ball things to engage your core and legs... you'll really feel a difference!

There is a really good you tube video I came across that is a total body work out with 25lb free weights. I will attach the link but there are lots of similar videos that can give you some ideas.

Try it out, let me know what you think!

I just bought 1o lbs weights to do this, 25lbs would kill me at this point!

Take care,

h.

Look at you, Always finding new ways to workout. Good.. I heard that info on my Turbo Jam videoa. She said it's good to use all muscles when weight training so u burn more and longer. LOL! My mind just went to the gutter :blush5:

Well, You have a good day and Dont forget to drink your WATER!!!

Yes, now that I think about it, working out like that makes seems to be the more productive way to do it.

I sure have been drinking my water, how about you? :D

Mar. 15 ---

Today, being Sunday, I slept till my hearts content again.

For breakfast I had my shake, a small piece of cinnamon bread, and some nutricious cereal.

I'm going to the gym in a bit, maybe in an hour or so.

I've decided to no longer go to the gym twice a day. I weighed myself this morning and I don't think the result accurately represented all the work I've been putting in. So my conclusion is I have been working out too much and my calories haven't been high enough to gain anything out of that, and I went into 'starvation mode' thus my not so great loss this past week and a half.

So from now on I'll just go to the gym once a day, about an hour or an hour and a half if I'm doing both cardio and weights. Then at home I'll do a bunch of sit-ups, push-ups, planks, ab exercises and things of that nature for like half an hour (if I can last that long) just to give me that extra push.

No worries! As for the pain.. no pain no gain?! The first few times will be a challenge to get through it for sure. AND THEN.. you will feel amazing, and hopefully get great results. I wouldnt mind having obliques like that... in a less manly more feminine kind of way. You get what I mean, the man has zero spare tire.

Good Luck!
