Hi Luzz how are you doing? I know you haven't been feeling your best lately but I want you to know that absolutely fabulous! I don't know if I would've been as strong as you to turn away from those 'indulgence' muffins, your description alone has my mouth watering sheesh! How did you feel after swimming? Good I hope, and btw what's popchips?


Is it chips that are 'air popped'? Or is that just the name of the brand? Either way keep us updated on your wrkts and how you're feeling okay?

I just wanted to say i hope you feel better! and also, one of my friends had some of the same issues and they said going in a jacuzzi really helped them. do you have one at a gym nearby? you might be able to get a week free if its too expensive to join.
 
Hey everyone... It's been like, a whole week. Ooops. I'm going to be completely honest and tell you what happened and how my retarded mind worked:


Well, I weighed in on Tues expecting my weigh in to be around half a kg less, so around 67kg (after I'd managed a 4000cal deficit for the week) and to my horror I saw 68.7kg. So I thought fuck it, I'll be really good today and weigh in tomorrow... But I never got that far, I was just angry so ate a shitload. Kinda had a few good days and a few bad days this week, the bad outweighing the good. But then after a really horrible day at work yesterday I was incredibly bad and just decided it wasn't worth the food, and it was making me feel worse. I have been swimming however, pretty much every day for about a fortnight. Only missed 2 days!! So this morning I jumped on the scales (even though I knew it'd be way out from all the shit I ate yesterday) and yea, it was 69.6kg... but I've lost 2% body fat which I thought was crazy!! And NONE of my measurements have gone up. I was being generous with the tape too!!! Haha maybe swimming is better exercise than I thought?? Anyhoo...


Also completely random, it's exactly 12 weeks till I go home on holiday. Not going to go for the month anymore as I decided the loss of money isn't worth it (neither is being away from my husband for that long) so holidays on the 23rd July for a week... and I really want to be 62kg by then!!! I'm actually enjoying swimming, and I know that where I am the winters are still around 30 degrees celcius (and it's the dry season), so I can swim all the way through too!!! I PROMISE I'm going to come in here and write every single day like I did before, it seems to be one of the big things keeping me sane. So...


Todays plan

I made it with Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Mix, almond milk, and coconut sugar.... absolutely blew my mind. It stayed kinda gooey on the top and bottom so was like self- saucing choc pudding!!!! Also I worked out the calories (for how I made it) It was: 279cals, 14g fat, 37g carb, 2g fiber, 5g protein (all healthy fat from the coconut oil!!! If you haven't read about it's benefits, I strongly urge you to google it!)

S- Choc peanut butter quest bar (trying to get rid of the last of these, they are made with whey and I'm trying to get rid of all the dairy in my diet. Don't want to throw them out though!!)

L- Homemade pizza on a GF base, topped with spinach, fresh tomato and homemade 'uncheese'

D- Little instand Pad Thai noodle cup (because I'm lazy and it's my day off. So NER.)


Also going to swim for at least half an hour- I've worked out that 30mins is going fairly hard up and back 160 times, it's enough to make me feel fairly exhausted at the end too considering how weak I am!!! I kind of run in the shallow end, and then breast-stroke to the deep end.

DMR- I would like to say that I WISH I had been able to resist the next day... I tried the choc cherry mudslide one, OMG. Felt kinda sick all afternoon afterwards though!!


Gettindere- Pop chips are supposedly 'air popped'- to me they taste kind of like pringles that are puffy? Haha, they are yummy, and an entire family size bag is only 360cals. Bluebird- Thanks for the advice!! Unfortunately I live in a really small remote community in the middle of the desert, and it's a mining town... There is 2 gyms, pretty much exclusive to the miners though as the companies give them memberships for working for them. It majorly bumps up the price (of everything actually- electricity, rent, domestic flights to and from here) so a gym membership is something ridiculous like $150 a month.... which is huge compared to the $40 a month I used to pay in the city!!! The only reason we are out here is for my husbands job, and the company is paying for our house and half our bills... It really isn't worth it though, as cost of living is ENORMOUS. Like our last 2 power bills?? $1500 each!!! And that's only for 2 months!!! I used to pay like $150 a month... eeek! We are stuck out here for another 15 months though as buying our way out of his contract his impossible... we would have to win lotto or get sent somewhere else by the company. It sucks!!
 
YAYAY. Most exciting news- hubby and I are planning a trip to New Zealand for Nov!!! My mum has just been back to visit her family, and she said she was going in November... and I just kinda said we will come around the same time! Going to do our own thing but will drop in on the grandparents etc... going to go for like a fortnight. It's gunna be awesome!!!! It's been like 4 years since I went last and my husband has never been.


Anyhoo, onto yesterday... I'd eaten as above all my calories for the day, and then hubby came home and said we had to go to the store managers farewell dinner!!! Arrghghgh. Frustrating. It was a buffet, think I did ok though. Loaded up on salad and steamed veg and had some roast chicken and kangaroo... think I ended the day on around a 300 cal deficit?? I can't really say how much I ate but it would've been at least that. Haha ate no desserts or anything either, go me!!


Todays plan

B- The same as yesterday- 1 minute chocolate cake haha!!! Better day-off breakfast than pancakes, and no clean up!

S- Choc peanut butter Quest bar

L- Gluten free pizza base topped with homemade uncheese, fresh tomatoes and spinach

D- Instant Pad Thai noodles


Exercise is swimming of course- doing 170 laps every day at the moment (did it yesterday too!) Going to increase it each week by 10 laps so I'll be doing 200 by the end of the month.

Argh so today I've been really binge-y, not really sure why... I was genuinely hungry when I got out of the swimming pool, and then kinda went downhill from there!! I made sure everything I ate was healthy, and I went for a 20 minute walk to undo some damage... actually wasn't SO bad, will be ending the day with roughly 150cal deficit. So didn't go over at least!!! Want 5 perfect days for the rest of the week though to reach this weeks goal!!!!
 
Ending the day on a 215cal deficit, managed to squeeze in another walk because I was bored!! Working the next 5 days, so I'll be posting food plans the night before.

Good to see you're slogging on! You seem a bit happier in your posts as well, somehow.. how's your physio going? I also love swimming - it's a great all-over body workout in every respect! Do you swim at the beach or at a local swimming pool?

And man, your plans always sound so DELICIOUS! I wasn't hungry until I came to your blog - now i am, damnit! I sense a peanut butter sandwich in my near future! :D


The trip to NZ sounds amazing.. that's in one of my top two spots in the world to visit at some point! Take lots of pictures!
 
I don't have to see the physio anymore, my kneecap moves again... I just have to keep exercising every day and stretching. Seriously the last few hours of my shift get so hard, I have to stretch every 15 minutes to be able to stand!!! It's pretty awful! She said swimming would help it heaps, and have to say it has. Actually this house has a swimming pool, so that was a win!! Means I don't have to swim in public!!! I so wouldn't swim at the beach here- there's crocodile sitings all the time. And sharks. Plus millions of crabs. Eek!
 
Worked an extra 45mins today, so had something slightly higher in calories when I got home. Ended the day on a 964cal deficit! Had heaps of issues with my legs at work today, had to stop and stretch every 20mins from when I started! Don't normally need to do that until the last few hours. Arrgh it's my freakin hamstrings, they get so tight I can hardly move!!! It was sweet relief going swimming this arvo though.


Officially booked time off work for our holidays too- taking off the 9th-26th of November!! Going to go to NZ for 2 weeks. Yay!! Going to start planning it now!!!

Hey there Luz! I'm sorry I've been absent for a long time, but I just finished school and will be having more time to post in my journal and keep up with yours. I see you started swimming. That's great! I love swimming and really wish there was a pool near me or I could afford a gym that has a pool. Sorry to hear about you getting so stiff. I know how hard it is to work when you're in pain. My left knee has been giving me problems the last few months. Somedays I just want to cry it hurts so much. I was on an arthritis pill for awhile and then I stopped taking it. Refills ran out and now the only way to get back on it is to go back to the doctor for a visit and I just can't afford it, so I guess I'll be suffering for awhile. Well enough of me complaining. So exciting to hear your Holidays are getting closer and that you're planning a trip to New Zealand! How exciting!?!


Keep going girl, I know you'll make that weight goal you have for yourself! :)
 
Hey Munch!! Swimming is all I can do right now, my legs feel too unstable to walk around any more than I do at work... Getting there again, but it's pretty slow going!!! Still feeling fairly disabled.


Bit of drama this morning, Wade ended up leaving work in an ambulance. He's been sick with something for a few days and was feeling better yesterday so came in today and collapsed. So that was scary!! He's fine now, has to take another couple of days off work... apparently it's some random virus that's been going around that attacks your brain and affects your body functions. But yea, it was a scary few hours!!!


Got home from work just before 1:30, but I sat down a lot more today than I normally do so eating as I did above, I still only managed a 918 cal deficit today. Still happy with that!!

Glad to see you are still on here....I just caught up with your diary today and think you are doing fantastic....I would have all bad days if I worked the hours you did so good job keep going, I would love to be able to swim every day. I miss swimming to work out now I only do leasur swiming with the kids a few times a year!
 
Last night ended up being a pretty big fail!!! After posting I had a little nom nom fest... went 600cals over maintenance!!! Going to subtract it from my running total... Not going to reach this weeks deficit goal, but going to work harder next week!! Today I've been good, stuck to plan. Worked an extra hour back today and about to head out for my swim...

Ended up not swimming and eating more!!! Was determined NOT to go over maintenance, but I did eat right up to it! Then TOM came this morning and I was like oooooooooooooh, that's why. Haha!! Didn't do too much damage calorie-wise, but guess the scales wil tell me tomorrow!

I'm so sorry for being such a crap friend these last few weeks. I have neglected everyone :(

I've been struggling with food too, and failing but as of today i am back on track, no excuses. I have been craving, and eating lots of what i shouldn't.

Ooooooh New Zealand!!!! That is my ultimate place i want to go to, i'm so jealous :)
 
Arrgh I've been pretty bad for a few days too!!! Ended the week with only a deficit of 1472 and then started this week badly!!! Planning to be really good the rest of the week, I think I'll be happy if I can get a 3000 cal deficit.


I do have a few things I'm proud of last week!! I actually managed to finish on a deficit, I had only one coffee a day, and I exercised 5 out of 7 days!! So getting better!!!! This week I'm going to cut my coffee intake back again to one coffee with only one shot instead of 2... and I plan to exercise 6 out of 7 days. And have double the deficit of last week lol. This week I'm up to 180 laps of my little pool! So aiming for at least a deficit of 800cals a day to make up for all the crappy food I ate yesterday. Bring it!!


One of the girls I work with (who is really the only friend I have up here) is leaving, she got a new job and goes on holidays next week, then is going straight to her new job. Argh I really need a new job too!!! Sucks being stuck where I am!!!!


Anyhoo... Have today and tomorrow off and I'm at home alone again cuz everyone else is working. Poos.
 
I thought I'd post a couple of pics from the last time I was in NZ- haha didn't realise so many people were keen to go! My parents are from NZ, and my older sister was born there... Oh, and technically I'm a NZ citizen. My mums family still all live over there and her parents (my grandparents) are getting too old to travel and both have various illnesses... So thought it'd be a good idea to go and visit since I haven't seen them since my wedding! Getting super excited for it too, already worked out an itinerary... Only doing north island as we are only going for two weeks and that's hardly enough time just to do that!! Anyhoo...here are some photos! (from '08)


This is the view from my grandparents back door- the building in the background is my aunty and uncle's 'castle' they are building. Actually they're still building it, they're doing everything themselves by hand... Just the tower took like 9 months, you can't see in the pic but the entire roof of it is mosaic! And yes, the river in the background is on their property too...went kayaking down there a few times!
