Finding the fox within! Take two......

So I have to admit as much as I was looking forward to getting back to the gym I felt really out of place this morning. I joined an all women's gym hoping to find some like minded peers and I'm sure they're there somewhere hiding amongst all the tight, fit gym bunnies(wow, judgemental much?) but I just felt "fat". I think it was the realization or gravity of being labelled "obese" that has bought me down. Yes to look at me I am undeniably overweight but I would not consider myself obese. It really was shattering and disheartening! There I got my little grumble out of the way!

I was up and at them at 0540, off to the gym 0600 when they opened the doors. Interval training on the treadmill 25 minutes, 4 sets on the rowing machine, 15 minutes on the bike and some stretching for my cool down. I came home with blisters on both my hands from the rowing machine.

Food intake included natural yoghurt with almonds and seeds, protein shake, mini protein bar, an orange, 5 x prawns and side of brown rice with mushrooms.Approx. 2L of water, 1 cup of black coffee and 1 cup of tea.

I'll be back....my famous last words!

You are back KC!
Those gym fit bunnies better watch out because the roller derby queen is in the house!

Rookie mistake!! Today I decided to go attend BodyPump, my first group fitness class in donkey ears, just about died! Just kidding, class went well the squats and lunges were the killers though. My legs were quivering by the second half of the session. My mistake was this, doing my first group fitness class the day before my first session with my new PT. I'm so damn sore my legs are struggling getting up and down the stairs. How am I going to fare at the PT sesh tomorrow?!?! 8months off my skates and all my leg muscles seem to have shrivelled up and died.

Ate super well, only one coffee and one tea!

Ok, well, yesterday I was sore today whoa!!! Whole new ball game, legs stiff as board, slept like crap every time I moved I discovered another aching muscle which I had forgotten existed. I was dead certain I would have to cancel the PT session I had booked for 1800 tonight. I ummmmed and ahhhhed about it right up until the drive home from work, pulled into the local chemist and picked up some goanna oil ointment(the equivalent to Deep Heat). Stacked that onto my thighs and headed down to the gym, 15 minutes warm up on the treadmill then the PT had me on the rowing machine doing sprints.....felt like my thighs were shredding but I gutted it out. Once I stood up ,well, I thought I was going to break down crying in the middle of the gym. She had me roll out my legs on a foam roller which is suppose to help release the lactic acid from your muscles, certainly helped and I sucked it up and finished the session(needless to say we worked on upper body strengthening today).
Although I might have been foolish or a little over eager today, I'm proud of myself for seeing through every rep and set of my PT session. Even after a soak in the tub with some Epsom salts tonight, I think I will make tomorrow my rest day this week.

Food wise, really good....protein shake for breakfast and lunch, snacked on almonds and a muesli bar followed by fresh fish, steamed vege and rice for dinner.

Fluids, a good 3L of water, 2 black coffees.

You are a tough one my friend. Happy soreness to you!
Let's think of something more positive to call the aches and pains of getting in shape. How about fitness twinges? Yeah I like it! Your not sore, you have fitness twinges.

Well, after a couple of rest days, the fitness twinges are almost gone. I was really struggling for a few of days.
Ate well over the weekend didnt get too side tracked. I allowed one alcoholic beverage yesterday afternoon.
I have now eliminated my black coffee from my intake which has been replaced with green tea. LOVE IT!!! T2 have opened a branch in my city. Nobody really likes Mondays, even those that say they do secretly dont Im sure of it! However 05:40 my alarm sounded and I rolled out of bed and headed off to the gym. 30 minutes on the treadmill(interval training), 3km on the stationary bike and 1km on the machine. I need a new playlist...song recommendations.

He enters with a empty coffee mug:
Hey can I get a cup of coffee in here? What? No coffee? Gasp!

Ha ha just kidding...I like green tea too.....just not as much as coffee
Thanks for calling me back to the thread...I need a thump on the head from time to time.

Chumbawumba....Tubthumping, nice choice, Brawny!!!
I love my coffee too but the weight is just not shifting yet and well every little bit helps, right?...... Right?
2nd PT session tonight went well, I swear this woman is the devil in disguise! Just kidding she's lovely but I'm so outta shape and she seems to have me doing all the exercises I just have never been able to perfect. Leg day this week....plenty of wall hold squats, lunges, leg presses, mountain climbers, weighted squats all the fun stuff topped off with planks. :/

Ate well, breakfast - natural yoghurt with almonds and birdseed.
Snacks - Almonds and orange
Dinner - chicken breast, Brussels sprouts, carrots and sprout salad.

Anyone else that wanders past my diary feel free to reccommend songs for my playlist.

Song report:
So I was walking on the track last night and had my iPod on shuffle. I have 2200 songs on there including all my old stuff and my teenage sons stuff so I never know what's gonna pop up. If it's not upbeat, I skip on by it. So I was fading a bit and an oldie but goodie came on that got me going for a little longer. It was "I want it all "by Queen....good one

PTs are the spawn of satin dressed in spandex!

Funnily enough during my session she asked how I was feeling, my reply was " F@#ked", she just laughed and said that's the whole point of PT sessions didn't you know?!?!

She did however comment out of all of her clients I complained the least, that's got to be a good thing, right?

Queen is always a winner when it comes to workout tracks, Brawny!

I shocked myself today, I got up and had coffee(my treat) with my breakfast. Then decided you know what I'm going to go for a workout! Me??? wanting to workout on a Sunday!?!?! It's simply unheard of! And it wasn't just some piss ant little workout, 5km on the treadmill, 6km on the bike, 2km on the rowing machine and some dumb bell exercises. I feel good!

I have a huge collection of music but I flipped on some GirlTalk today and no they aren't some teeny boppers. They sample heaps of artists so their stuff is quite hard to get your hands on but great to workout to!

Oh did I mention 11.5cm lost this week, go me!!!

Super job on the workouts KC! And the loss! I am at the point where I really miss the workout if I skip it but my scale seems to be stuck. I may need a scale repairman...or a sledgehammer ha

Hahaha, well when the scale repairman is done at your place send him over to my place, who knows he might give us a discount.

I had great difficulty sleeping last night, I think I may have managed 3-4 hrs so I thought it a good option not to go workout so fatigued. But the alarm is set for an early morning session tomorrow.

Food intake was great today! Snacked on some almonds and oranges, protein shake for brekky, chicken salad for lunch and steak with sautéed Asian greens for dinner. A few cups of green tea and a couple of litres of water.

Just a quick check in, 6am cardio workout, check!! Treadmill, stationary bike and rowing machine. I seriously need to invest in some workout gloves that rower is giving me blisters!!!!

Food intake was almost identical to yesterday save for the dinner, which was swapped out for savoury mince and veg.

I'll be back tomorrow, keep it real!

Hey ho! I'm still here! Daily check in time.... I had an upper body session with my PT tonight and the first two sets of the circuit I was doubting I could do much more, third set I thought this isn't so bad and fourth and final set I was thinking Ive got this!!!

Circuit included - strict dead lifts above the head, frontal forearm lifts, punching dumbbells above my head, another type of lift single arm above my head, wall ball throws, bear crawl(not impressed) and power walking with some heavy frigging dumb bells straight by my sides after the four sets were done and dusted straight onto the rowing machine for sprints.

I think I will be sleeping well tonight. I bid myself Adieu!

Week four and still going strong! Haven't checked in over the weekend but I am happy to say this is not an indicator to say I slipped off track. I did surprisingly well considering the annual show was on Friday. Surrounded by sugar filled show bags and deep fried food! Hubby and I both opted for fruit salad for lunch and drank water all day. 6 hrs on my feet was enough exercise for the day.

So I weighed in this morning and I have lost only 1.4kgs so far and 13cm! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the loss but I thought I would have lost a bit more by now.

Tomorrow is another day and the alarm is set for another early morning gym session.
