Finding Myself in Me

B.t.w. 5k is 5 kilometres, right?

Yes. 5K is 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles.

My pace ended up being 14:41 - a little slower than what i wanted, but hey.. I'm happy with it :)

Hey, well done Neon :beerchug:

Don’t worry too much if the time wasn’t what you were aiming for, the thing is you did it!!
And now you’ve done one you have a benchmark set for reference.

YOU DID SO GOOD!!!
I was super proud!
it was a great time, you suffered, you were a real champion!

I'd run with ya anytime.

we will work on your launch, and get soem speed work going, and all that, no worries.

you rule!

Yea well done neon, time shouldn't even be a worry at this stage. You f**king did it and thats what matters! Pushing yourself to the limit and doing your best is the way forward ;)

Even if you were last, (which you weren't) you should be very proud to have finished and not sat your butt on the couch like so many others.

Getting out there and making the best of every moment is what it is all about. You inspire me to run a race soon! I looked at a trail run and got a cold shiver of "can I do this?" last night. I am still feeling torn but if I look at you then what excuse do I have for not going out and doing it?! Thanks for leading by example and not being a slacker despite what your visor says.

By the way, I have a personal prejudice towards visors but I am rethinking my narrow minded ways due to your sporting such. :D I will no longer automatically relegate someone to douche bag status upon viewing that head gear. Well, I will atleast pause before doing so...heh. I think you may be an exception to the rule. The word on it definitely helps to make it kewl.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not been a member of this site for a long time, but I have noticed that despite differences in opinions, time zones, countries and physical attributes, we are all truly pulling for each other.

Athleticism contains no boundaries.

After posting my race results, I am surprised how many of you have responded with congrats and encouragement. That alone is worth the journey.

It’s funny & sad really… I have received support from a group of people I have never met, but not from the peeps at home.. hmm

So… to this group of athletes (and some farm animals-hehe) thank you so much for everything. It truly means a lot to me.

Now that I've gotten the mushy, sappiness out of my system... time to go kick some butt... hehehehe:action11:

good- back to the weight training / cardio sculpt program. Glory time is over.

AND- you 5k in Nov will simply be another run.

Tues -weights (day 1)
Wed -run "tempo" training
thurs - weights (day 2)
Frid - off - find a happy hour ;)
Sat - play day with sweating / run "pace" training in evening
Sun weights (day 3)
Mon - school

GET BACK ON TRACK! You have come sooooo far, take it to the dirt thru the holdiays.

One thing about family support - you can neither give them the credit for your new body, nor can you blame them if you trash it!

That's because we understand you and your motives :D

Nobody in my family, not even my wife cares in the slightest about my training. If I tell her I've added 10kg to my squat PB she'll respond with the same fake 'that's nice' that I come out with when she's talking about her family :D

Plus we all follow your journal because you're so nice (and very pretty :action4:)

well I think you said it all when you said, that other athletes understand. I recently told one of my sisters and mother in passing that I was working out, and she asked what could I bench press. I told her 80 lbs. Now, even I know that ain't much, but she comes back with "OMG!!!I couldn't do that!!! and I'm like .... huh? Then mom chimes in with "well, don't get too big..." LMAO...I wish........

I don't think they can understand what it takes to do what you are doing. But the fact is, you do it for yourself, and you are doing a great job :)

geeee- guess I wasn't veru compassionate about the family thing-- I meant to say-

F-em! maybe even give them the double- > :action10:

Live large for yourself! you're worth it!

was that better :)

omg...

too funny... but you're right on both counts.

I can take the credit for what i've done and tell them to scratch.. hahahaha

10/13

My workout last night was a tempo run.

What became obvious is that the "routine" I have now, needs to be tweaked - meaning I got my sweat on, but it was lacking oomph...

When I first got the current timing schedule, it would have taken me 30-35 min to complete. Last night it took less than 30. This is good! This marks improvement - at least on time.

This also means I need to be challenged on time - make the run time longer.

My form/posture still needs to be a focus as well. Part of my posture issue is genetic, however that does NOT mean I am going to submit easily. hehehe

So! tonight when I hit the gym - I am going back to the weights and fully expect to walk out feeling my back shredded!!!

Besides... i gotta bring sexy back ... LOL

Gonna go run tonight and attempt a full 2 miles

We'll see.

I may break in the mantra - Knees do not exist - and see how that goes.. hehe

It would uber-cool if the "runner's high" would actually kick in too..

Wonder how to kick endorphins into overdrive?

Ha, ha, I get exhausted when I run, not high. Been wondering about the so-called runners high too.

I have felt the high. It was great thought I could run forever but getting to it is at least 30 min for me and 30 min is rough on me. Good luck

I feel the high when I do fun runs. I love it :) I also feel the high when I go running with my PT because he pushes me and it works. I beat a time then I get a smile on my face cannot get off!
