Finally serious about losing weight - with an important deadline.

On a depressing note, I decided to try to take some "before photos"... OMG I look horrible!!!! I thought it would be funny to put on an old bikini/cute board shorts that I used to be proud of wearing. I could barely pull the board shorts up... forget buttoning them! Wow! It's so crazy to think that I didn't even notice my weight gain until some of my jeans (which are forgiving) began to be snug... It's so sad. I feel the most sorry for my loving boyfriend. No wonder our sex life has been lacking. :(

Well, at least you are on the right track now, and in no time you will be noticing that those boardshorts look great again.

Oh, and by the way, sex is a GREAT way to burn some calories!!! Hee..hee...

Okay.. I have a dilemma. This weekend may just do me in with all the hard work I've already done...

My brother won the grand prize on the radio for backstage passes to the Van's Warped Tour (huge concert venue) for Sunday and then on Monday, a professional driving school complete with limo pick up. I'm so excited to go to these all day events, but worry that my diet will suffer. I highly doubt that these beer and hot dog catered events will have anything remotely healthy or in low car. Ugh.. what am I to do? I can't really bring my own food in...

Maybe I can just pack up some energy bars and hope that will tie me over.

Good luck :)
I'm just starting out with being serious about it also.

You can chat with me anytime, everyone else can as well, if you need help or motivation or just a friend. :)

Gawd... I'm dreading the weekend. Too many temptations!! First, my boyfriend's brother's bday bbq & his out-of-town friend's bbq in the same day! Then the concert to deal with... Wow... this is going to be something else! Wish me luck! There better be fruits & veggies at these places...

Oh man, the Warped Tour is amazing! I haven't been to one in about three years, but yeahhh, the bad stuff is everywhere, I won a chugging contest there once, lol.
It seems like you've been doing really well, I kinda skimmed your diary- its amazing how your calories stay about the same every day. I try sooo hard to keep em the same, but it never happens  Keep up the good work, have a great time at the concert- don't fret to much! If its still an outdoor thing like it used to be, you'll be sweating enuf to burn off the boozin lol :)

Well, here I am between bbq's... Man this is rough! I normally would have been snacking on all the chips and dips but stuck with the fruit and had a turkey burger with water to drink. I'll come back and edit in the rest of the food I may have tonight.

Well, so far sounds like you are doing good at the BBQ's. At least they had turkey burgers. And if you do eat something "bad" don't beat yourself up too much about it. You can balance the rest of the week out with salads and other light meals. There is no rule that every day has to be good and healthy. This is a lifestyle change, after all...

Good luck, and more importantly, HAVE FUN!!!

Wow!! What a weekend and start to the week!!!!!

On Sunday I went to the Van's Warped Tour, got back stage, and were ON stage while Rise Against played! :hurray: I can't believe how crazy that crowd got! I'll definitely have to post up some pictures/video that I took. :) I don't think I even want to think about the calorie intake I had, but I walked so much and all day I'm sure it evened out. And... even with sunblock I managed to get a gnarly sunburn. Oh the pain... lol (So worth it though!)

I believe on Sunday I had:
Breakfast: Banana & Meal replacement shake (330 cal)
Lunch (1pm): Carne Asada Burrito (beans, meat, onion, cilantro, and hot sauce)
Dinner (5:30pm): Buffet line with mashed potatoes, steak w/ onions & mushrooms, fried cheese sticks (I know...), baby carrots, broccoli, and I think that was it.. I skipped out on the dessert.
Late Dinner (10:15pm): Subway 12" Roast Beef on Wheat with mayo (I opted for mayo and ditched the cheese), lettuce, tomato, onion, bell pepper, olives, s&p, o&v.
I drank water and diet root beer so at least no calories there. However, I did have 2x 14oz bud lights, which I can't stand. I wanted the wheat beer, but thought it would have more calories than I really needed.

But today.... I hung out with Tom, David, and Atom from Angels and Airwaves. They are such down to earth and cool guys! We all went over to Irwindale speedway to drive nascar-style cars. :driving: We first were picked up in a "racing" limo (I'll post pics of this too) from my brother's place and driven out there. Once there, went through the orientation, got on our fire retardant suits, and went 3-4 at a time around the oval (about 15 laps total). We all got pictures with the band and I had them sign a bag I got yesterday from Warped Tour. Freaking Awesome!!!

So far today....
Breakfast: Meal replacement shake (230 cal) & Starbucks coffee (just the daily drip) with nonfat milk & splenda (5 cal?)
Lunch: Sandwich roll thingy with lots of veggies (cal--??) & a bag of baked doritos (90 cal)

I'm STARVING right now and may splurge with some Mexican food, but who knows.. I'm typing this while I'm waiting for the bf to finish up in the bathroom. lol

I wonder what the scale will say tomorrow... Be afraid, people... Be very afraid. :p

Last night I did end up having Mexican food (chunky beef burrito) but only could finish half of it. I'm not sure if I even want the other half... lol

So, I got on the scale this morning and am down another 2 pounds! :D I guess all the activities that I did during the weekend really paid off. I was so afraid that I was going to gain...

I uploaded some of those pics, so here they are!
First 2 are from Warped Tour when we were on stage during Rise Against's set.

#3: The crazy limo that picked us up.
#4: Me getting into the car I was to drive.
#5: Group photo with my brother & friends, and the band!
(Top: Our limo driver, John (brother's friend), Jeff (my brother), Not sure who this guy is, Tom DeLonge (Angels & Airwaves), and Ryan (brother's friend). Bottom: Jim (brother's friend), Atom Willard (Angels & Airwaves), David Kennedy (Angels & Airwaves), Ryan (my bf), and Me (looking horrible!))

Congrats on the weight loss! Yes, I definitely think you got enough exercise in to account for the extra calories.

And, you do NOT look horrible in that picture... Silly! Thanks for sharing. It sounds like a blast!!!

Actually . . . that's a really cool story on how you can get through some major events with some wicked food and still be okay. It lends a lot of credence to the idea of working hard so that when special events do come around, it's not diet-killing, world-ending, or zombie-producing.

And YEAH! You have tattoos too! That's so cool. I was concerned I'd be the only illustrated one here.

Day 16

Thanks everyone for such awesome support and feedback! You rock! :grouphug:

Speaking of zombies... wow... I was such a zombie today. Not on the level of eating brains, but just that I was really sluggish all day and sore from the weekend. I guess it doesn't help that I got one of THE worst sunburns of my life! It hurts to raise my arms over my head since the skin on my shoulders are so tight from the burn. I'm hoping that tomorrow evening I'll be feeling more up to going to the gym. It's weird feeling withdrawals from not going for a few days...

Back recording my intake...

August 19th, Tuesday
Breakfast: Meal replacement shake (230 cal)
Lunch: The other 1/2 of my burrito (yeah... I caved in and ate it) - (about 400 cal)
Snack: Bowl of corn flakes (250 cal)
Dinner: Hearty helping of "Garden Vegetable Soup" (150 cal)
Dessert: 1/2 cup Fat-Free Instant vanilla pudding (90 cal)

Total Calories: 1120

I think I perfected the recipe for Garden Vegetable Soup. It's a weight watcher's recipe, so I'll make my changes in red. :)

Garden Vegetable Soup
2/3 cup sliced carrot - About 5 or 6 baby carrots
1/2 cup diced onion - About 1/2 an onion
2 garlic cloves minced
3 cups fat free broth (vegetable, beef, or chicken)- I used 1 can of veggie and 1 chicken. For those that like more broth, add an extra can of your preference.
1 1/2 cups diced cabbage
1/2 cup green beans
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon dried basil - I used about 5-8 fresh leaves, minced
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup diced zucchini - 1 zucchini diced
1 celery stalk diced
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
1 can of stewed italian tomatoes

In large saucepan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, saute the carrot, onion, celery, and garlic over low heat until softened. Add broth, cabbage, beans, tomato paste, basil and oregano and salt; bring to a boil. Lower heat and summer covered until beans are tender, about 8-10 minutes.

Drain tomatoes, reserving 1/2 the liquid. Cut the tomatoes into bite sized pieces. Stir in tomatoes and their liquid along with the zucchini. Heat only 3-4 minutes (or zucchini will be mushy). Serve hot. Makes four 1 cup servings. Per serving 42 calories, 0g fat, 2g fiber.

*I think with my alterations, the calories may be between 50-60 per cup which is still great. :) By adding the can of stewed tomatoes, it made the soup have more of a minestrone type appeal. It was pretty darn good.

I hate sunburns, I hope you have aloe. I once had a sunburn that was so bad I could not walk for 3 days. It was on my knees and I couldnt bend them.

Enjoy your day and I hope yoiu heal fast.

Thanks for the post for the soup. I have a couple of different Weight Watchers cookbooks, but it is always great to see what people actually make, and if they enjoy it. I love recipes and I'm trying to make one new recipe every week.

I love to cook, but it is really amazing that we had gotten into such a bad habit of eating out ALL THE TIME. It's not even necessarily easier (cuz Monday I just threw a roast w/some veggies in the crockpot and then yesterday I made green chile stew out of the leftovers... way easier than driving to the restaraunt, deciding what fat induced food to order, and then eating it.)

Have a great day today. Put some more aloe on that sunburn & you'll be back to normal soon. Maybe at the gym you can just walk the treadmill or ride the bike, something that doesn't require a lot of arm swinging...

Day 17

Today has been a bit of a roller coaster...

I woke up with a really bloated feeling and pain/cramping in my abdomen. :ack2: Spent quite a bit of time in the restroom before I could even get in the shower. (TMI, I know, but that's the theme of this post today.)

Then I started out the day dealing with some car trouble, ran errands with my mom while I was waiting for it, ended up taking the car to a different mechanic for a 2nd opinion and magically, the problem disappeared and everyone has a different theory as to what's wrong with it. UGH!! As much as I am a car person, I hate dealing with car problems that involve random noises as part of the diagnostics. And of course, when you take it somewhere, you can't recreate the sound that you heard at home.

After quite a crazy day of running errands, feeling bloated, and having to run to the restroom on several occasions...I'm surprised that I managed to wash my car. I did try to take it easy for the rest of the night since Project Runway & Shear Genius were on. :) Dinner was simple and tasty but then the intestinal pain came back and man...I feel drained (no pun intended!).

So I'm left with debating on whether or not I should ride my motorcycle to work tomorrow or take the car. If I do take the bike, then I have to deal with being hot and having helmet hair. Or... I can chance take the car and hope no mysterious "bad mattress spring" noises come back.

I'm just glad to finally be in bed and hope that I'll be asleep soon and more recovered from the sun burn and the "issues" I had today.
:chillpill:

Blame the burrito! It's always prudent to blame the burrito!

Have you slathered your sunburn with aloe vera gel yet? Not only is cooling, but it's supposed to heal sunburns like crazy.

The soup recipe looks really good too, so thank you for that. I hope your tum feels better soon!
